Jadavpur University is indeed a great institute for a B.Tech degree, no doubt about it. However, I would recommend you opt for NIT Trichy. Here are my reasons:

• NIT Trichy has a stronger brand value across India and even internationally. People in the western and southern parts of India may not view JU as being on the same level as NIT Trichy.
• Since your home state is West Bengal, studying away from home will provide you with a wealth of learning experiences. You'll not only focus on academics but also learn to manage your life and make decisions independently. If you're not prone to homesickness, NIT Trichy is a great choice.
• NIT Trichy attracts students from all over India, which is not the case with JU. You'll have the chance to interact with peers from Kashmir and pick up some South Indian languages. You'll gain insights into why Gujaratis name their snacks "atom bombs" and learn about the culture of Nagaland. This diversity is not something you’ll find at JU.

My assumption here is that you are considering the same branch at both colleges. If that's not the case, choose the institute that offers you the better branch.

And when I mention placements, I’m not just referring to bulk recruiters like TCS or Infosys. Still, there are plenty of employment opportunities with various companies that are already established and emerging.

Students regularly secure internships at Amul, Britannia, United Breweries, ITC, and more. So, if you excel, you can definitely find your way! Regarding academics, JU students consistently perform well. There are students from Food Tech who are going abroad for further studies.
