NIT Trichy B.Tech in Electrical and Electronics Engineering has a more robust campus life and better exposure to industry leaders, which is a big plus for placements. In contrast, Jadavpur University's BE in Electronics and Instrumentation Engineering offers a more hands-on curriculum but may lack the same level of campus connectivity and internship opportunities. While both colleges have their strengths, I'd personally lean towards NIT Trichy for its stronger placement record and overall student experience, especially if you're looking to get into top-tier companies. However, if you prefer a slightly more relaxed environment and are passionate about instrumentation, Jadavpur University could be the right fit for you.

NIT Trichy’s B.Tech in Electrical and Electronics Engineering offers a solid ROI with a fee structure of around Rs.60,000 per semester and a chance for significant scholarships based on family income, making it financially accessible for many. The campus has strong ties with tech giants for placements and internships, which is a big plus. On the other hand, Jadavpur University’s BE in Electronics and Instrumentation Engineering also has a good reputation but may not match NIT Trichy's placement opportunities as closely, especially for tech companies. If you’re looking for a better financial choice with robust placement opportunities, NIT Trichy would be the smarter option. However, if you have a strong interest in instrumentation and prefer a diverse cultural experience, Jadavpur could still be a good fit.

If you’re getting ETCE in Jadavpur, I’d suggest waiting and hoping for an upgrade to CSE in the next rounds. If you do get CSE, take it over the others any day! Its average placement is probably double that of NIT Trichy.

If you’re still only getting ETCE in JU, then Electrical in NIT Trichy is the better choice. Placement-wise, they may be similar, but the NIT tag will tip the balance in NIT's favor.

Don’t get me wrong; I have immense respect for IIEST, but the placement stats seem a bit outdated. Plus, I’ve heard the infrastructure isn’t up to par. That might change in 4-5 years with its new INI status, but you can’t count on that. It’s best to avoid risks.

Peer group-wise, NIT Trichy will have students from all over India, while JU will have a predominantly Bengali background. IIEST will have students from West Bengal and other states due to its quota system. So, you might get to learn more about different cultures in NIT Trichy, which can help develop your personality.

As for faculty, I have no clue about that area.

Jadavpur University is undoubtedly a strong choice for a B.Tech degree. However, I would recommend opting for NIT Trichy. Here are my reasons:

  • NIT Trichy has a stronger brand value across India and even internationally. People in the western and southern parts of India may not view JU as being on the same level as NIT Trichy.
  • Since your home state is West Bengal, studying away from home will provide you with numerous learning opportunities. You'll gain experiences not just academically, but also in managing life and making decisions independently. If you’re not prone to homesickness, NIT Trichy is a great option.
  • NIT Trichy attracts students from all over India, which is not the case with JU. You'll have the chance to interact with peers from Kashmir and learn about South Indian languages. You’ll discover interesting cultural nuances, like why Gujaratis call their snacks "atom bombs" and learn about the culture of Nagaland. This diversity is less prevalent at JU.

My assumption here is that you’re considering the same branch at both institutions. If that’s not the case, choose the institute that offers you the better branch.

. All the best! :)
