NIT Trichy for B.Tech in Electrical and Electronics Engineering is a smarter financial choice compared to Jadavpur University’s BE in Chemical Engineering, mainly due to its better ROI and robust placement opportunities with tech giants regularly recruiting from the campus. At NIT Trichy, the fees are around Rs.60,000 per semester, with potential scholarships and waivers for economically disadvantaged students, allowing some to study for free. Jadavpur University also offers decent value, but its scholarship options aren't as extensive, and the interaction with faculty may not be as engaging. If you're looking for a strong technical foundation and lucrative job prospects, go with NIT Trichy; if you have a passion for Chemical Engineering and can manage the costs, Jadavpur is a solid option too.

NIT Trichy for B.Tech in Electrical and Electronics Engineering offers a robust curriculum that connects real-world problems to practical applications, which is great for hands-on learning. The college hosts numerous tech giants for placements, giving students an edge in job opportunities and internships. On the other hand, Jadavpur University’s BE in Chemical Engineering has its own strengths but lacks the same level of industry engagement and placement statistics as NIT Trichy. If you're aiming for better job and package prospects, I'd recommend NIT Trichy—especially since it has a strong track record of attracting top recruiters and providing ample internship opportunities. If you're more inclined towards Chemical Engineering and prefer a different vibe, Jadavpur could still be a solid choice, but NIT Trichy definitely leads in career outcomes.

If you’re getting ETCE in Jadavpur, I’d recommend waiting and hoping for an upgrade to CSE in the next rounds. If you do get CSE, take it over the others any day! The average placement is probably double that of NIT Trichy.

If you only end up with ETCE in JU, then Electrical in NIT Trichy is the better choice. Placement-wise, they may be similar, but the NIT tag will tip the balance in its favor.

Don’t get me wrong; I have immense respect for IIEST, but the placement stats look a bit rusty. Plus, I’ve heard the infrastructure isn’t up to the mark. That might change in 4-5 years with its new INI status, but you can’t be sure. It’s best not to take any risks.

Peer group-wise, NIT Trichy will have students from all over India, while JU will have a predominantly Bengali background. IIEST will attract students from West Bengal and other states due to its quota system. So, you might get to learn about different cultures in NIT Trichy, which can help develop your personality.

As for faculty, I don’t have much insight into that area.

Jadavpur University is indeed a great choice for a B.Tech degree, no doubt about that. However, I would recommend opting for NIT Trichy. Here are my reasons:

  • NIT Trichy has a stronger brand value across India and even internationally. People in the western and southern parts of India may not view JU as being on the same level as NIT Trichy.
  • Since your home state is West Bengal, studying away from home will provide you with a wealth of learning opportunities and experiences—not just academically, but also in terms of life skills, decision-making, and independence. If you’re not prone to homesickness, NIT Trichy is the way to go!
  • NIT Trichy attracts students from all over India, which is not the case with JU. You’ll have the chance to interact with peers from Kashmir, learn South Indian languages, and explore the unique cultural quirks, like why Gujaratis name their snacks "atom bombs" or the traditions of Nagaland. JU won’t offer this diversity.

This comparison assumes you’re considering the same branch at both colleges. If that’s not the case, choose the institute that offers you the better branch.

. All the best! :)

Honestly, I think NIT Trichy for B.Tech in Electrical and Electronics Engineering offers a stronger overall experience compared to Jadavpur University for BE in Chemical Engineering. NIT Trichy has a more hands-on curriculum with practical labs that connect well to real-world problems, while Jadavpur University might lack in student-faculty interaction. The campus life at NIT Trichy seems vibrant with various cultural and technical events, while Jadavpur University, although reputable, may not provide the same level of engagement. If you’re looking for better placements and a lively campus experience, I’d recommend going for NIT Trichy; however, if you have a specific passion for chemical engineering and prefer a different environment, Jadavpur might be the way to go.
