NIT Trichy for B.Tech in Civil Engineering is a solid choice if you're looking for a high ROI, considering its impressive placement stats with a 100% placement rate, average packages around 27.27 LPA, and affordable fees compared to Jadavpur University’s BE in Computer Science, which has a decent placement rate of 79.8%. While NIT Trichy has various scholarships to alleviate costs further, Jadavpur also offers financial aid based on family income, but the overall fee structure is higher. So, if you’re more inclined towards civil engineering and want a strong placement prospect with better value for money, NIT Trichy is the smarter financial choice. However, if you prefer computer science and are okay with potentially higher fees for the tech field, Jadavpur University could be the way to go.

They often think they are superior to all NITs/BITS, etc. If IIT KGP wasn't in Bengal, they might even claim JU is better than IIT B.

Listen, if you're getting CSE at NIT Trichy, choose it without hesitation. JU is a state college, and it will stay that way. Don't pay attention to NIRF rankings; VIT being ranked above NIT Suratkal is absurd. The same goes for JU being ranked over NIT Trichy.

NIT Trichy for B.Tech in Civil Engineering offers a solid placement record with a 100% placement rate and an average package of around 27.27 LPA, which is impressive, especially considering the high demand for engineers in the job market. On the other hand, Jadavpur University for BE in Computer Science and Engineering also provides good internship opportunities with reputable companies, but its placement percentage is about 79.8%. While both colleges have strong curricula and internship offerings, NIT Trichy's higher average salary and placement success gives it an edge. If you're more inclined towards civil engineering and looking for higher salary prospects, NIT Trichy is the better choice. However, if you prefer computer science and the flexibility of varied internship opportunities, Jadavpur University could be your fit.

JU is a fantastic choice. While I'm not a JU student, I can confidently say that JU CSE is an excellent option. You won't regret it, trust me!

However, if you have the chance to get into NIT Trichy for CSE, which is the best NIT in the country, don't pass it up. If fees aren't a concern, go for NIT Trichy CSE. It's on par with the top 5 IITs for CSE and IIIT Hyderabad. JU is just a step below NIT Trichy. So, choose what feels right for you, but in my opinion, NIT Trichy is the way to go.

P.S: I'm not a student of JU or NIT Trichy. No bias here! :)

Jadavpur University is indeed a great institute for a B.Tech degree, no doubt about it. However, I would recommend you opt for NIT Trichy. Here are my reasons:

  • NIT Trichy has a stronger brand value across India and even internationally. People in the western and southern parts of India may not view JU as being on par with NIT Trichy.
  • Since your home state is West Bengal, studying away from home will provide you with a wealth of learning opportunities and experiences—not just academically, but also in managing life and making decisions independently. If you’re not prone to homesickness, NIT Trichy is a great choice.
  • NIT Trichy attracts students from all over India, which is not the case with JU. You’ll have the chance to interact with peers from Kashmir and learn about South Indian languages. You’ll also gain insights into diverse cultures, like why Gujaratis name their snacks "atom bombs" and the traditions of Nagaland. This cultural exposure is less prevalent at JU.

My assumption in this comparison is that you’re considering the same branch at both colleges. If that’s not the case, choose the institute that offers you the better branch.

. All the best! :)
