NIT Trichy’s B.Tech in Chemical Engineering offers an impressive 100% placement rate with top companies like Google and Microsoft, along with high average packages reaching 55 lakhs, making it a strong ROI choice despite fees of around 2 lakhs per year. In contrast, Jadavpur University’s BE in Electronics and Instrumentation Engineering has a slightly lesser reputation for placements, though it is still respectable; however, specific placement data is not as robust.

Both institutions provide scholarships, but NIT Trichy's alumni support system seems more extensive, enhancing financial viability. For students prioritizing placement opportunities and potential earnings, NIT Trichy is the smarter choice, while those valuing a more affordable option might find Jadavpur University appealing for its solid education and lower competition for internships.

NIT Trichy's B.Tech in Chemical Engineering really shines in placements with a staggering 100% placement rate for the branch and top companies like Google and Microsoft offering packages up to 55 lakhs, while internships are fairly accessible too, giving students a solid pathway to job offers. In comparison, Jadavpur University's BE in Electronics and Instrumentation Engineering has a reputable program, but the placement statistics aren't as strong or specific, and while they do have good industry connections, the average package and opportunities might not match up to what NIT Trichy provides. So, if you want the best job prospects and higher salary packages, NIT Trichy is the way to go, but if you're leaning towards a more diverse engineering field with a good reputation, Jadavpur University can still be a solid choice.

Placements for BE in Electronics and Instrumentation at Jadavpur University are quite good. About 30+ out of 40 students get placed in core companies. PSUs recruit through GATE and do not come for on-campus recruitment for IEE, but many private companies do. The average salary is around 5.5–6 LPA, which is obviously lower than CS/IT.

Companies that regularly recruit from our department include:

  • Cairn India
  • Vedanta
  • Oracle Cloud
  • OFSS
  • Reliance Industries
  • Bharti Airtel
  • Texas Instruments
  • Sankalp Semiconductors
  • HPCL
  • ZS Associates
  • HSBC Analytics
  • PwC India
  • Foster Wheeler
  • SAP Labs
  • Rockwell Automation
  • Linde India Ltd
  • ABB (ASEA Brown Boveri)
  • Siemens
  • Mu Sigma
  • CGI Group
  • Capgemini
  • Infosys
  • IBM

These companies offer compensation that aligns with industry standards. A good number of students also pursue higher studies at prestigious institutions, including IIMs and foreign universities. NIT Trichy's B.Tech in Chemical Engineering shines with its strong placement record and industry connections, boasting a 100% placement rate for the branch and top companies like Google and Microsoft recruiting regularly. In contrast, Jadavpur University's BE in Electronics and Instrumentation Engineering offers a solid education but may not match the same level of corporate engagement or placement percentages. NIT Trichy's curriculum is rigorous and well-implemented, while its campus life features vibrant fests and excellent facilities. Personally, I'd recommend NIT Trichy for those seeking robust placements and a dynamic environment, while Jadavpur could be a good fit for students looking for a strong academic foundation in a less competitive atmosphere.

I would personally prefer Instrumentation!

NIT Trichy is an excellent college for UG studies, but the department you choose is crucial. It influences your motivation and performance in college. Honestly, if you’re not interested in pursuing an MS or M.Tech, then Metallurgy or Chemical at NIT Trichy might not be the best fit. Instrumentation at JU is a better option because it has fantastic placements and also allows for higher studies.

Also, consider the fees. The total amount you’ll pay for NIT Trichy will be significantly higher than what you spend for your UG course at JU.

In the end, even though NIT Trichy is ranked a bit higher than JU, I would recommend choosing JU based on the department. The final decision is yours. Make your choice wisely!
