I’m currently in the B.Des program at DTU, and I’d say it’s pretty solid so far! The first year is all about building a strong foundation in design, covering everything from product to industrial design. I’ve heard that in the third year, we get a chance for internships based on our skills and performance, which sounds promising. Placements seem decent too, especially for interaction design students. I read that the highest package was around 1.8 crores, but the average is around 10-12 lakhs, which is quite encouraging! Campus life is amazing, with loads of fests and clubs to join. Overall, I think DTU is a good choice for design if you’re passionate about it.

I don't believe DTU is the best place for studying design. The motivation and atmosphere for design are lacking. About 85% of the seats are reserved for the Delhi region, meaning students who may not have a genuine interest in design, and with ranks up to 3-4 thousand, are enrolled. The design profiles of students there can be disheartening! There isn't even a separate building for the design department.

Currently, I wouldn't recommend keeping DTU as a primary option. There are definitely better private institutes for design. Consider Srishti Bangalore or MITID Pune. Yes, DTU is a big name, but it’s just not equipped to teach design effectively at this time. Perhaps the situation could improve in the next 4-5 years, but for now, it’s a big NO to DTU for design!

As a first-year B.Des student at DTU, I can tell you the course has a lot of potential. The curriculum was updated six years ago and is mostly relevant, but I feel like it could use some practical aspects to keep up with the fast-paced design world. I’m really looking forward to the internship opportunities in my third year, especially since the college has a strong student network and even offers paid internships through startups. The placement stats are also impressive, with many students landing jobs in big companies like Microsoft and Google. Overall, I think DTU is a great place to start a design career.

Pursuing B.Des at DTU has been an interesting journey so far. The course structure is good, and the foundation year helps you explore various design fields before choosing a specialization. Although I’m just in my first year, I’ve heard that internships are plentiful and relevant to our skills. I’ve seen that the placements for design students are quite decent, with some securing packages upwards of 1.8 crores, though the average is around 10-12 lakhs. The campus life is vibrant with fests and clubs. The fees are a bit high, amounting to around 15-16 lakhs for four years, but there are scholarship options too. Overall, I think DTU offers a solid experience for aspiring designers.

DTU is a great choice! It's a government college, and just like its engineering programs, the design department will thrive with time since the Bachelor of Design has only recently started. Here are some key points:

  • The faculty is excellent, with many professors coming from NID and NIFT.
  • The atmosphere is entirely focused on design, separate from engineering.
  • The campus is impressive, offering great facilities.

You won't regret choosing DTU!
