Analysts anticipate intense competition, with an average of 11 candidates fighting for each spot at all IITs. On May 26, the JEE Advanced 2024 exam will be held in two shifts: 9:30 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. and 2:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. On May 17, JEE-Advanced 2024 admit cards will be available.

1.91 Lakh Aspirants Compete for 17385 IIT Seats

According to the data, the number of registered candidates for JEE Advanced is 1.91 Lakh. Analysts have predicted that this year, 11 students will compete for 1 seat. 20% of the total seats are reserved for the female supernumerary quota. Of all the candidates, the percentage of male and female students is 65% boys and 35% girls. Thus, with the advantage of the reserved seats, the female students have an advantage in securing seats at IITs.

The JEE Mains 2024 exam similarly saw a huge number of applications. A total of 14,15,110 candidates appeared for the JEE Mains exam, among which 2,50,284 candidates qualified for the JEE Advanced 2024 exam. This year the qualifying JEE Advanced cut-off was also higher than the previous year. Among 2,50,284 qualified candidates, 1,91,000 registered for the JEE Advanced 2024 exam.

JEE Advanced 2024 Skipped by 60,000 Students

Based on expert-reviewed data, almost 60,000 qualified students out of 2,50,284 candidates did not apply for the JEE Advanced 2024 exam. The anticipated reason for this is the 75% marks in the 12th board exam criteria. Students who passed JEE Mains 2024 could not apply for the JEE Advanced exam because they did not score 75% marks in their 10+2 exam and are not eligible for IIT admission.

Additionally, students who have appeared for the JEE Advanced exam twice already and also have passed their 12 exams before 2023 are not allowed to take the JEE Advanced 2024 exam. JEE Advanced exam scores and the JoSAA counseling process are prerequisites for admission to the IITs. Starting on June 10, 2024, individuals can register for JoSAA counseling.
