The CAT cutoff 2025 will be announced after the release of the CAT 2025 result in the last week of December 2025. The CAT Cutoff 2025 will vary from different categories and colleges. As per the previous year's analysis.

For the General category, the overall cutoff percentile for top IIMs like Ahmedabad, Bangalore, and Calcutta is expected to be in the range of 98 and 99+.
While newer IIMs like Bodh Gaya, Sirmaur, and Amritsar will have the cutoff as low as 85–90. The cutoffs for reserved categories (OBC, EWS, SC/ST) will have the lowest in the range of 35–45 percentiles.

The sectional cutoffs are equally important, with IIMs like Ahmedabad and Kozhikode with the percentile range of 70–75 in each section (VARC, DILR, QA), while other IIMs like Indore and Lucknow are expected to have higher sectional cutoffs of 80–85.

Based on recent trends, a raw score of 88–97 is estimated to get the 99+ percentile, which is considered excellent. A score between 72–85 marks is expected to get a 90–95 percentile, which opens doors to good B-schools like MDI Gurgaon, IMI Delhi, and IITs.

CAT Cutoff for IIMs 2025

The CAT cutoff 2025 has not been released officially. So, as per the previous year's analysis of the CAT cutoff of IIMs, it is expected that the top IIMs like Ahmedabad, Bangalore, and Calcutta require a safe percentile of 99+ for general category candidates.

The Tier-2 IIMs like Lucknow, Indore, and Kozhikode are expected to have the cutoffs ranging from 91–99.5, with most selections happening above 95 percentile.

The New IIMs like Amritsar, Nagpur, and Trichy are expected to have the cutoff range of 95+ percentile, reflecting an increase in competition.

To stay competitive, aspirants should aim for 95+ percentile for newer IIMs and 99+ for the Tier-1 IIMs.

CAT 2025 category-wise Cutoff

The CAT cutoff 2025 will differ across the categories and colleges. The CAT cutoff for IIM for the General Category is expected to be high as compared to the other categories, with top IIMs like Rohtak expected to have 95 percentile, Indore and Lucknow will have 90, and others like Trichy, Ranchi, and Udaipur (92) reflecting a strong competition. The Tier-2 IIMs like Shillong and Sambalpur will have comparatively lower cutoffs of 75 and 74, respectively.

CAT cutoff for IIM cutoff for SC candidates will be lower compared to other categories, 70 percentile for IIM Ahmedabad to 35 percentile for IIM Sirmaur and Sambalpur, providing easier accessibility to reserved category candidates.
The CAT cut-off of IIM for OBC category is likely to range from 63 to 80 percentile with older IIMs such as Indore (80) and Ahmedabad (75) having higher scores, whereas the newer ones such as Sambalpur (45) and Vizag (63) will have lenient cutoff.
For the EWS category, cutoffs are typically near OBC, between 63 and 80 percentiles. IIM Ahmedabad and Nagpur will have the cutoff around 80, while others, like Vizag (63) and Sambalpur, will have a low cutoff of 63 and 40, respectively.

CAT Sectional Cutoffs for Top IIMs (General Category)

In CAT 2025, IIMs like Lucknow and Indore are expected to require the highest sectional cutoffs of 85th percentile in each section and 90th overall.

The IIM Bangalore and Calcutta are expected to require the sectional cutoffs around 75–80 and overall 85 percentile, whereas the IIM Ahmedabad is expected to require a much lenient sectional cutoff of 70 in each section with an overall cutoff of 80.
The Newer IIMs like Raipur, Udaipur, Trichy, and Ranchi will have the sectional cutoff of around 70–73, but a high overall percentile of 91–94.

CAT 2025 Marks vs Percentile

CAT Score vs Percentile provides the analysis of the expected percentile range as per the CAT marks scored. A score of 127 will provide the 99.9+ percentile, ideal for the top IIMs. Candidates scoring between 110-120 will fall in the range of 99.7-99.9 percentile, can get a seat in the top B-Schools.

94-103 marks will place the candidate in the 99-99.5 percentile, which is acceptable for top IIMs, and 85-93 marks will get the percentile range of 97-98, acceptable by mid-level IIMs.

72-84 marks are expected to put candidates in the 90-95 percentile, which is suitable for new IIMs and good B-schools, and the score range of 60-71 marks are expected to place in 85-89 percentile, for Tier-2 schools, and 50-59 marks will give an 80-84 percentile, suitable for Tier-3 schools.

In CAT 2025, a raw score between 102-120+ is considered an excellent score, which can place the candidate in the percentile range 99+, providing opportunity to get admission into Top IIMS like IIM Ahmedabad, Bangalore, and Calcutta.

A score range between 80-100 in CAT is considered a very good score, with the percentile range between 95–98. The candidate can get into Mid Tier IIMs like Shillong and IIM CAP.
