CAT Cutoff for Arts Students (General Category)

IIM CAT 2023 Cutoff (Percentile) Remarks
IIM Ahmedabad 99.5+ IIM Ahmedabad has one of the highest cutoffs. Arts students would need a 99.5+ percentile to be competitive.
IIM Bangalore 99.5+ Similar to IIM Ahmedabad, the cutoff is high, around 99.5 percentile for general candidates, regardless of stream.
IIM Calcutta 99+ IIM Calcutta also maintains a high cutoff at around 99 percentile. Arts students must ensure strong academic performance.
IIM Lucknow 98.5-99 The cutoff is slightly lower than the top IIMs but still very competitive, typically around 98.5+ percentile.
IIM Kozhikode 98+ A competitive cutoff of 98 percentile for Arts students. Focus on strong personal interview and overall profile.
IIM Indore 98+ IIM Indore has a cutoff close to 98 percentile. A slightly lower cutoff compared to top 3 IIMs.
IIM Shillong 95-98 For IIM Shillong, Arts students can expect a 95-98 percentile cutoff. Still competitive, but relatively more accessible.

There is no separate cutoff for Arts students in the CAT exam; the general cutoff criteria apply equally across all educational streams. Cutoffs vary based on the IIM's selection process and the overall candidate pool, with some IIMs considering diversity factors (like non-technical backgrounds) during final selection, though this doesn't directly affect the cutoff. Top IIMs like Ahmedabad, Bangalore, and Calcutta require 99+ percentiles, making them highly competitive, so Arts students must prepare well across all CAT sections. A strong CAT score alone isn't enough for admission; factors like academic performance, work experience, extracurriculars, and the Personal Interview (PI) and Written Ability Test (WAT) are also crucial. Newer IIMs like IIM Nagpur and IIM Kashipur have lower cutoffs (90-95 percentile), offering more opportunities for Arts students
