Dr APJ Abdul Kalam Technical University, Lucknow, has released a notice regarding the conduct of semester examinations in the offline mode.
According to the official statement, AKTU Lucknow will hold the odd semester examinations offline from December 28, 2021, to January 15, 2022.
On the other hand, students are not happy about the university's choice to hold examinations in the offline format. According to the latest reports, university students have strengthened their online protest against the institution holding tests for students in the offline method in the middle of the escalating COVID-19 scenario.
B.Tech student Ashish Deshpande said,” What is the Use of being a technical university when during a pandemic it is not taking use of the technology? Students count in AKTU is not in thousands but in lakhs and the university is not realizing that it is risking so many lives”.
The students have started a Twitter campaign called AKTU Online Exam Lekat Rahenge.
Students from the university's 763 affiliated colleges, including all Engineering and Management students, have filed complaints about the university's decision. Students have also taken to social media to protest the university's decision.
Students from a private engineering college in Ghaziabad reported that Omicron has entered their city and that conducting offline exams is risky in such conditions.
“Two Omicron cases have already been reported from the city. There are a number of AKTU colleges in Ghaziabad and NCR region hence the university should not be irresponsible to hold offline exams”, stated B.Tech student Harsh Mishra.
On the other hand, AKTU spokesperson Asheesh Mishra added,” University is monitoring the Covid situation, students should begin preparation as the exam will be held in the offline mode.
Shauryaveer Singh, national secretary of NSUI, had previously expressed support for the protesting students, stating, “The government cannot suppress the voice of AKTU students demanding online exams. Till such time their demands are not met, we will continue to support them.”
Meanwhile, applicants should check the official website-aktu.ac.in for the latest information on odd semester examinations.
