Jalandhar, Punjab: Recognizing the need of student-centred teaching in the era of digital transformation, LPU organized a two-day faculty development program (FDP) on ‘High Impact Teaching Skills’. Training Consultant from the USA headquartered ‘Dale Carnegie and Associates, Inc.’ and Dr. Vinita Yadav conducted the training program. Dale Carnegie & Associates has its presence in 90 countries, trained 8+ million people worldwide in 25+ languages, with 400+ of the Fortune 500 companies as its clients. Playing a pivotal role for the up-gradation of knowledge and skills of faculty and staff members, Human Resource Development Centre (HRDC) at Lovely Professional University (LPU) keeps on organizing development programmes, not only for the betterment of available human resource but also to help the global society at large.

The program was spread over 8 sessions, where participants were mentored individually with respect to their presentation skills. The output sessions were video recorded for self-analysis and constructive feedback. There was a rich mix of individual and team activities making the training program interesting and interactive. The emphasis remained on planning presentation structure, effective opening, closing and attention catching presentation skills. It enabled participants to bring forth productive teaching for the general benefit of the society.

LPU Chancellor Mr. Ashok Mittal shared: “LPU is committed to providing world-class faculty development programmes at its campus with the larger aim of enhancing the quality of teaching. LPU would welcome the academic fraternity from all across India to participate in such programmes to help realize LPU mission- ‘Transforming Education, Transforming India’.” He also added: “I think that it is very important to develop full-fledged orientation programmes for old and newly recruited teachers alike, in all educational institutions.”

All of the participants were appreciative of the gesture shown by LPU in a choice of the trainer, appropriate learning environment, infrastructure, study material and content delivery.
