KCET 2019 General Paper Analysis

KCET 2019 was conducted successfully on April 29 & 30. Students had mixed reactions towards the exam. While some said the exam was of moderate difficulty level others believed that exam was easy and quite high scoring. All the sections in the exam had moderate difficulty levels. However, Physics and Chemistry had a comparatively higher number of questions from class 12th.

Paper Analysis 2018

KCET Paper Analysis 2018

  • KCET 2018 was conducted successfully on April 18 and 19 in pen and paper-based mode.
  • A pleasant surprise for the students was that the OMR Sheets came with pre-filled information like name, hall ticket number and version code of the question paper.
  • The pre-exam session of 15 minutes used earlier for filling details was reduced to just 10 minutes.
  • Biology and Mathematics were scheduled on April 18 while Physics and Chemistry were reserved for the next day.

Day 1 Analysis

Mathematics: The paper was easy to solve and most of the questions were asked from the prescribed syllabus of First and Second year PUC as per the claims made by some of the experts. Judging by reactions of several students, 40 questions can be categorized as easy while remaining 15 were of medium difficulty and 5 were difficult questions

Biology: A vast majority of questions were from class 12th (almost 75%) while only 15 questions were asked from class 11th syllabus. Again, the questions were strictly based on the first and second year PUC curriculum. The paper was not very lengthy and an attempt of 45 to 50 questions could be considered quite good.

Overall, both the papers were of easy to moderate difficulty level without too many tricky questions.

Day 2 Analysis

Physics: Like Biology, topics from the second year PUC curriculum predominated in the Physics Paper. A well-prepared student could easily get 80-85% questions correct. Although, some candidates claimed that as many as 10% questions fall in the difficult category. However, no major hiccups are expected as all questions fall well within the curriculum of 2 years of PUC.

Chemistry: As per the candidates, the Chemistry paper was equally balanced to favor all the aspirants. The majority of questions were conceptual and easy to solve. This year, lots of numerical questions were asked in the examination. The paper had 17 questions from the first and the rest from the second year PUC Curriculum. Read More KCET 2024 Syllabus

Paper Analysis 2017

KCET Paper Analysis 2017

Based on last year’s patterns, the overall analysis deduced that the exam was more difficult than expected with 60 questions which were to be solved within 80 min. This year, candidates needed to buckle up to get good scores.

This analysis will provide some knowledge about the important topics which should be emphasized on and the level of the exam.

Physics: “The exam was well-structured. A perfect combination of conceptual and application-based questions. Only Electrostatics was believed to be tricky”. This is the response of a student about the subject.

Chemistry: This year, the paper was tough when compared to other sections. Experts predict that normally, a well-prepared student could achieve success. Looking back at the last year, one must not take any chances and study thoroughly by practicing more conceptual questions as compared to application-based questions.

Mathematics: Unexpectedly, Mathematics was the easiest amongst all. Any candidate who had prepared well had a great chance to score well in this paper.

KCET Paper Analysis 2024 FAQs

Ques. What is the difficulty level of KCET?

Ans. KCET difficulty level is usually moderate. But let's consider section-wise difficulty level of the previous years. Biology paper is more often easy to moderate, while questions from Physics are on the higher side of difficulty level. Chemistry questions are also easy to moderate.

Ques. What is the weightage of Chemistry in KCET exam?

Ans. From PUC I Some Basic Concepts of Chemistry, Classification of Elements and Periodicity in Properties, p – Block Elements, s – Block Elements carries 6 to 8 percent weightage in the exam. From PUC II, important chapters in Chemistry include Magnetism and Matter, Alternating Current and Electromagnetic Induction

Ques. What is the weightage of Biology in KCET 2024?

Ans. From PUC I of Biology, Neural Control and Co-ordination, Photosynthesis in Higher Plants, Respiration in Plants, Biomolecules, etc are most often asked. At least 5 questions are asked from these chapters. From PUC II, Human Reproduction, Microbes in Human Welfare, Organism and Population, Ecosystem, etc are important as 6 to 7 questions come from these topics.

Ques. Is KCET tougher than NEET?

Ans. If we compare KCET with NEET, KCET is less tough than NEET. KCET is a state level exam specific to Karnataka state and admission are given to colleges located in Karnataka. Whereas, NEET is a national level which is conducted fro admission to around 700+ medical colleges in India. For KCET more than 2.5 lakh students register every year, but for NEET more than 20 lakh students register every year.

Ques. Is 120 good marks in KCET?

Ans. Yes, 120 marks in KCET is considered good. But for admission to top colleges in Karnataka, you should aim at scoring more than 150 marks in KCET 2024.
