I wanted to study film making and advertising which prompted me to choose Mass Communication. There's less effect of the curriculum in real world application. Teachers need to look beyond favouritism and teach according to modern day technique. Frequency of exam was like 5-6month sometime it took 7 month sometime 5 month. Difficulty level was high.

Faculty of Jamia Millia Islamia is really good they help you in every kind of things in the study and also apart from that like you need an internship while doing your course they help you throughout with it, also they keep you motivated every time and good thing is that the treat you as a friend you can talk to them on social media or on phone on even physically whenever you need. And this is the best thing which I have seen in Jamia which make me motivated all the time to talk freely about my problems to my professors.

The fees was minimal in comparison to other universities as AMU is providing the whole two years course with in 20,000 that is almost nil in comparison to others where the fees is in lakh. There is also an option of scholarship through which we get our fee back and that help us to complete our other important works. There is a setback here which is related to employment as there is no university placement which demotivate us as we don't get any chance of job from university side and we have to struggle alot to get job.

Campus Life

I have great experience with my campus life, course and hostel life Amu provide us the environment where we grow with nature view of campus and get multiple opportunities in form of taking participation in different cultural and knowledge events that runs side by side. The teachers and courses give us the guidance and knowledge which help us to achieve our goals and give us great vision. I learn alot form campus and with students that are diversified came form different background and areas of India.

Course Curriculum Overview

I chose this course, because I wanted to build my career in International Journalism and gain mastry in practical skills related to media. And this institute is one of the best for this course in Delhi. Faculty is industry experienced and also we have special mentors being called from industry for specific subjects each semester. Student ratio is quite manageable as only 30-40 students get admitted, which makes it easier for faculty to focus on individual. Teachers are highly qualified professionals, practicing or practiced journalism and giving us the industry worthy skills and insights. Teaching metjod is both practical and theoretical. Exams are held timely. Difficulty of pasing or scoring well in exams is higher as teachers practice strict checking standards.

Other than that there were scholarships to be given to students who excelled and the students belonging to Scheduled castes and scheduled tribes.

Course Curriculum Overview

From the very beginning, I had a keen interest in anchoring and wanted to become a sports anchor. Especially, a cricket anchor which is the very reason I chose this course. My faculty had two guest lecturers and three full-time lecturers. They all had Ph.D. qualifications.

Course Curriculum Overview

Being interested in writing from a young age mass communication is the best way of turning my passion into a career option. This course covers all the facets of mass communication, for example, field reports, writing articles, visits to various institutions and teaching in a theoretical and practical manner to convey subjective and practical knowledge. The communication language is mostly Hinglish (a mixture of English and Hindi) which makes it easier for the students to understand conceive and create better content in the context of current affairs while giving depth to contemporary. Not conflicting with the language skills and abilities to produce better lingual ideas. All of them are professionals connected to big news houses and language improvement groups. As of now it is 1:5 in our department and at the most across the departments is 1:10. Mostly exams are held on time in a few cases due to technical reasons.

Internships Opportunities

Students are provided with an internship opportunity from the 1st year to gain new and learned experiences in their respective fields. Many local media agencies offer internship opportunities to students. And the stipend varies according to the institution. Wherein I was given a chance to work with an editor who allowed me to host a program on dissent which was also broadcasted. Also, I got a chance to work with the hitvada newspaper as a content writer. This helped me in my camera presentation interview capacity research and control over the content.

Campus Life

The university's infrastructure is good. The university is well-kept and environmentally friendly. Wi-Fi, computer laboratories with air conditioning, photography labs with air conditioning, print media room, large classrooms, and other amenities are available at our college. The new canteen's food is merely adequate. The hostels are not on the university's campus. However, the hostel's infrastructurerooms, kitchen, gym, etc.—is in excellent condition. The pupils have access to all facilities.

Course Curriculum Overview

I have chosen this course because I am very interested in journalism and acting. Faculty ratio is 1:10. Every teacher have Ph.d degree. The professors are courteous, helpful, and competent. Course Curriculum Overview

The course curriculum is more practical than theoretical to provide students exposure to how the real world works and how they can succeed in their careers after they get out of college. The presence of practical knowledge was my main reason behind choosing the college. And, when it comes to faculty, there are 5-6 faculties for a class of 54 students. All the faculty members are highly qualified and have good experience in the field as well. The faculties have even worked in the film and news industry, so that experience comes in handy during the classes. And, the faculties like to draw from their own experiences and then incorporate them into their teachings. They always prefer practical knowledge over theory. The semester exams took place every 5-6 months, however, class tests were held twice each semester. The exams were not difficult to pass, as everything was taught practically and questions came in exams related to that, so it was easy to answer them.

Placement Experience

The students become eligible for placement from the third semester, and the companies start visiting from that time. Companies such as Viacom, Adfactor, Shareit, etc visit the college. The highest package is from Viacom which is 5.5 lacs per annum and the average package is 4 lacs per month. Almost 40% of students get placed through college, but the name of college helps in getting outside job offers as well.

Placement Experience

From the fourth semester, students become eligible for campus placements but this department has the worst record. They never ask any company for a placement drive as the placement coordinator doesn't have any time for this. She has more interest in selfies, trips and 4% of students got placed. I have to do a Ph.D.

Loan/ Scholarship Provisions

For the 1st and 3rd semesters you will have to pay 2681 rupees and for the 2nd and 4th semesters 600 rupees. You will get up government scholarship that to is for the students from Uttarpradesh. No financial help or job is provided. You will have to find yourself if you want to earn.

Remarks

Since it was near my hometown I opted for this university. The teaching staff is amazing here. They constantly push you towards achieving any goal, big or small. The department has its own EMRC building which consists of all the necessary equipment that a Mass Communication class needs. My admission was done through an Entrance exam which was conducted by the Mass Communication department. First, a written test and then the selected candidates were required to sit for a group discussions round. Based on the written test and GD, around 50 students were shortlisted out of 150-200.

Course Curriculum Overview

Mass Communication and Journalism at Dibrugarh University is really good. Teachers are amazing. However, there is one flaw, it doesn't have much exposure. There are not many placements for this course in the university and the placement cell is just ineffective. But if you want to learn theoretical knowledge you can go for the course in here. Teaching staff will do whatever it takes for you to shine bright. Exams were not much hard. It was easier for me atleast to pass. Exams took place after 4-5 months. And the average would be calculated in the end of the final semester exams.
