Likes

Campus was good. The atmosphere is very calm and there's scenic beauty everywhere.
Hostel facility was available for students but everyone isn't eligible for availing this opportunity.
Some teachers are very good in their respective field. And they are very helpful.

Dislikes

The faculty was not upto the mark to teach a subject like mass Communication
Hod and some teachers were busy in favouring their selected students. There's lot of partiality in this department.
There's no facility for placement and internship. Studying Mass Communication from bu is a waste of a thing

Course Curriculum Overview

I wanted to study film making and advertising which prompted me to choose Mass Communication. There's less effect of the curriculum in real world application. Teachers need to look beyond favouritism and teach according to modern day technique. Frequency of exam was like 5-6month sometime it took 7 month sometime 5 month. Difficulty level was high.

Class Size: 58Course Fees: INR 25000 per year

Fees and Financial Aid

Complete cost of a education was around 30k in 4 semester. There's Swami Vivekanand merit cum means scholarship, single girl child scholarship for students. There's no scope for campus employment which you can choose.

Campus Life

There's social fest happening in july named muktodhara. It's a good programme. Lot of departments put their stalls. Various types of competition held and singers come to perform. There's a vast of book and journals available in the bu library. Within the classroom the facilities and technical aspects is totally zero. There's sport activity happened evey year during winter season.

Admission

Eligibility depends upon the graduation marks obtained by student. The official website of BU lands you to application form, fees and dates page. Everything you can find in the official website. Reservation benefits were available for students. Sometime exam happened after 7 month sometime after 5 month. And the difficulty was high.

Faculty

There are 4 teachers in the mass Communication department of bu for 60-80 students. Among 1 senior teacher is not even qualified for teaching class 8 student. Other 3 teachers were good but their technique were very backdated. There's very less opportunity for interaction with the teachers.

My Experience as an MA Graduate in Jadavpur University

Placement Experience:

Students become eligible for camous placemens from the third semester onwards. Companies that have visited the Departmet of Comparative Literature witth campus placements offers are SVF, Hoichoi, Radio Mirchi, Papertrue, LearningMate, among others. Highest package offered by companies is 8.5 LPA Percentage of students getting placements is 85% My plans after getting my MA degree is to go for a PhD.

Course Curriculum Overview:

This university has a widespread name for generations and so the courses taught here must be for not only students' academic excellence but also for their personality building. My course 'Political Science' has created my kin interest to study the subject in later life and when it comes with the name of Presidency University, it always offers better prospects for students. The faculties are very co-operative, responsible and student friendly except few in our particular department. The faculty-student ratio is 3:50. Most of the faculties believe in teaching in unconventional method, so they organize experimental modes for Internal assessment, exams and teaching courses. However the university has its biggest problem hidden in its untimely routine of completing syllabus and conducting exams or internals. Term exams are conducted just before the exams which is inconvenient, however the exams in our department are not too difficult to pass. The faculties give pass marks to all students.

I chose this course because it helped study about Psychology and socio political philosophy. The faculty members are highly educated. There were 2 semesters each year. If one attends all the classes regularly, it's not difficult to pass.
