Likes

Campus : as in the whole campus has it's own vibe. It is a really big place and enjoyable for those who likes environmental friendly atmosphere
Night life: PU night life is one of those things that you can't miss out. It has its own beauty . The streets and the yellow street lights gives a different kind of aesthetic
Events: day after day PU has some sorta events happening which keeps students engaging and does make campus life less boring

Dislikes

Fees: compared to other central universities PU has higher fee structure
Unnecessary security procedures: I mean the security procedures are fine, but sometimes it gets out of hands
Social circles: There are many social circles based on region in PU mostly, Where people from same place just sticks together and never let people from other places get into that circle or neither get in to other communities.

Course Curriculum Overview

The course can be named satisfactory but still have some more work to do in syllabus. Half of the materials that we learn is not updated. And many stuff that we study now are not required in the field.

Fees and Financial Aid

The course fee is higher compared to other central universities even though it does not offer much room for intellectual development. So, the affordability for these course to people from lower strata is comparatively lower. And there is no actual placements happening inside there

Campus Life

Campus life is one of the major aspects that keeps the students stick there even though the curriculum is too tiring. Night life inside the campus blows our minds off. And inside the campus , the calmness it provides makes our creative mind work much more vivid

Hostel Facilities

The hostel facility is not that bad I'd say. I mean it is based on which hostel you get. The one I'm in right now is pretty neat and clean. And every single day staff comes to clean and tidy that place. The only negative is that the room is for accommodation of 2 people but it has 3.so it gets a bit congested

Admission

The admission process in general was not hard, but the center for examination allocated for many were not satisfactory. And also for the entrance examination the procedures were time consuming . The level of difficulty of exam on previous year was really high

Course Curriculum Overview:

In my course we are learning a lot of theory papers like cultural studies , gender and queer studies , subartern studies , critical approches to theories and so on. Even in the thrid sem i had a project of translation under one of the best facutly in our department. This strengthens my resume. These syllabus are really helpful to participate clear competetive exams like ugc net . We had a lot of questions from our syllabus in the previous exam. To tell about the exam , timing is 3 hour for every paper. We dont have any practicals or labs. Paper inclues 2 marks , 5 marks and 15 marks.

Pondicherry University - A Haven or Home? For students

Placement Experience:

The students become eligible for campus placements after their second semester. That is when recruiter officers approach students for their interest and interviews. Amazon is one of the main recruiters. The average package is 5lpa starting. 40% get placed. My plans are to pursue a PhD after my master's.

Remarks:

The college management is utmost attentive to any kind of lacunas in academic or hostel facilities for the students. It readily addresses all the problems of students. The management has made the system very transparent to make it feasible for the students to approach anyone based on their necessity. It works for the overall development of the university.
