Fees and Financial Aid

I pursued my B.Tech from Shiv Nadar University in Electronics and Communication Engineering. My overall fee structure was around 16.8 lacs, In the initial year my fees was around 4.70 lacs which includes 25K security deposit(refundable) and 25k admission fees and rest 3 years my fees was around 4.20 lacs. There are many scholarships available in SNU, based on your JEE score and 12th score as well. If you talk about JEE Scholarship, you can get upto 50-80% of scholarship and on 12th basis your parents anual salary should be in a particular range.

Campus Life

At SNU, there are various clubs ( may be social and sports) and events like Breeze( Annual sports fest) which are likely to be held once in a year and there are sports fest as well which likely to be held in september-october in which many other colleges participate and we have a tough fight. The Classrooms are fully smart having multiple screen, projectors and ac's.

Placement Experience

The eligibility criteria for placement is to secure the traditional 7.5 cgpa but if you want a secure shortlisted, i would prefer yall to get around 8.0 - 8.5. Some of the MNCs who came for the placement intereviews were Google, Tesla, Schneider ELectric, ABB etc. THe highest package the student got this year was around 70 lakhs and it was in infosys and if we talk about the average package its around 10-15lahs. Around 50%+ students will get placed in higher componies while rest might go for mtech or get placed in low profile companies

Course Curriculum Overview

Why i did choose this course? Its simple, I love electrical and Computing Engineer and not gonna lie but my mother is an electrical engineer, so this course and the speciality and the pro and cones were all said to me by my mom and i got influenced by it. The Course curriculum in my college is balanced and they try to teach you everything with practicals included. The frequency of the exams is usually 1 month gap and the difficulty is seen in the paper too

Faculty

in vit vellore the faculty to student relationship is mixed it depends on how as a person you are if you are open and disciplined the teacher might really take a liking to you and help you in you studies and problems although all the faculties are very approachble and makes sure that the learning is intereactive. i really like my calculus teacher and physics teacher( jitendar behra) he was also the head of physics his way of teaching physics was really different and his notes were the best among all he used to make sure that everyone is understanding the concepts and make sure to also teach it in a practical way during lab hours. some faculties altough are the exact opposite they are horrible in teaching and make sure that you dont get good marks in exam like my friend had premkumar for physics he never came for most of the class and the back of the class coudnt even hear him and he wantedly cut marks a lot in internal exams now coming to the exam system we have 60 marks internal and 40 marks internal now in internals there are 2 exams cat 1 and cat 2 each is out of 50 marks and have 15% weightage so together thats 30 marks and the rest 30 makrs are from assignments and quizes that makes up your internals and the final test FAT is out of 100 marks and a 40% weightage is considered that is 40 marks which makes up 100 marks but an important thing is that its relative grading which means that the grade you get depends on the average of your class if the average is really low then the passing marks might go down but you do need to score a minimum 20 out of 40 in weightage in fat to pass that subject. now in terms of difficultivity i would say that it is average but cat 2 exam is open book and is generally harder than th normal exams

Course Curriculum Overview

i choosed my course becaue i was always interested in electrical componets and also in computer science and coding so this seemed like the perfect choice. in this course we are studying the core components of electrical and also of computer science like we have semiconductors, digital electronics, microprocessors and microcontrollers, python, java, c programming, software engineering, cybersecurity, this would give a wide knowledge of components for doing many cool projects and building stuff. i feel that this curriculam is really the what the future needs it really build you for the future by doing this course you would be excellent in robotics field it field or just electrical field and many more though this course might be tough at times due to its vast knowledge. i feel like this course must have a lot more labs than theory classes since this field requires practical learning.

Well there arebso many fests that take place in the college the biggest of them being ENDEAVOR and EPOQUE organised by collaboration of many clubs. These fests take place in March- June period. The central library of the college is quite fascinating I would say, I have found all the books I was ever looking for ( completely study basis). There is also a NGO namely Ek Prayas run by the students. Also the variety of clubs is awesome.

Faculty

1 faculty for 70 students in our branch. Our branch is new and established this year so the course structure is still being discussed and set. I especially like my maths faculty Ms Ritu Gupta, the way she handles the class with so much discipline and her way of teaching is incredible. Till now I have completed one semester out of 8 and I think the exams' difficulty level varies from average to hard. And only a few students failed.

Faculty

The faculty to student ratio is almost 1:40 . But the faculties are very much approachable and some of them are actually down to earth. The faculties that i liked are Radha Mam (Dept of maths ) and Sivagama Sundari mam(Dept of Electronic engineering) They both are too down to earth. They emphasise on teaching life lessons along with the subjects. The teachers i dont like were my class advisors Lekshmi And Nakeeran. Both of them were too rude. There are around 2 main exams midterm and end semester exam. Other than this class test will be conducted and the are for internal exam. 60 percentage of marks is for internals and the other 40 percentage is for external. In the first sem around 7 students failed to clear the exam. The course curriculum is almost relevant

Campus Life

There are two main fests one is ANOKHA and the other one is janmashtami both are celebrated way too grand. Janmashtami falls during september anf Anokha during october. The library has a wide access to almost all the research websites and also contains books that are much needed by students today. The classroom is also equipped with projectors and is furnished. We alao have bring your own device classrooma. Sports meet are often conducted here and are given importance. Extracurricular activities are also good There are many clubs run by the students like raga sudha, natya sudha and much more which performs during every fest.

The annual tech event of our college is vidyut but for the past 2 years it hast been conducted. So i dont know when the event happens .Many technical events happen in our college. These are the events conducted by different clubs. The library is filled with books and we also have digital library access also. The classrooms are smart classes with projecters and good light conditions.Different sports teams are there in our college but they are not as strong as the teams of other colleges . There are student run clubs like amfoss and bios. amfoss is the 2 nd top student led club in india. They participate in most of the competitions around the world. The club members work till late night doing some tasks. These clubs will be good to someone if they know to manage time very well

Faculty

We had one faculty for each subject and the faculties are good .They are friendly and cooperative . The evaluation pattern is 60-40 and for 60 for internals and 40 for end sem exams. The internals consist of mid term assignment and class test .Mid term is on 50 marks and it is coverted out of 30.The other 30 marks consist of assignments and class test .There will be 2 class test and 2 assignment each consisting of 7.5 marks. The exams are little bit tough but solving previous year questions will help us .The curriculum is modified every 4 years so the curriculums are upto date

Course Curriculum Overview

Aspects of the curriculum that influenced me to choose this course include the appropriateness of the topics with the current trends and as well as the fact that it is revised once every four years. The curriculum prepares me well for real world applications with equally good level of practicals and theory. Areas of improvement would be to not directly include core subjects without ensuring our basics are strong because then we find it hard to understand the subject in literal engineering sense. Frequency of exams is twice a semester, excluding the class tests conducted for internals. End semester exams are difficult but it would be better to conduct internal exams before midsems which helps us prepare better.

Campus Life

Overall campus experience is okay Celebrations and festivals include BMP (Bharat Mata Pooja) held in August typically, Garbha night which is held during October, Diwali which is held during November, Holi celebration during March, Ugadi during April, Onam celebration during August/September etc There's a lot of books accessible in library main being study related, novels are comparatively very less with most books being philosophical. Sports offered in the campus include badminton, basketball, swimming, football, volleyball. There's a few student run clubs in college which impacts student life in a good way

The faculties here are scene friendly and nice and they are really qualified also. The current semester has 7 papers and some of the papers are quite hard. The overall marking scheme follows a 60/40 ratio in which 60 percent is internals and 40 is end sem written exam.internals include midsems practicals assignments projects etc

Course Curriculum Overview

The course which i have chosed is really relavent because it contains both electrical and computer engineering fields so u can get jobs in both fields. The curriculum includes programing languages, machine language electric feilds, ai data structure also so its easy to get placed in both fields.

Course Curriculum Overview

My father was the one who mostly motivated me to take this course as this course eith this college certificate have great value in job opportunities. Labs and other subjects make this subject more reletaed to real life and interesting. The problem is all the assignments cmass test and semester examall come at the end and there is no enough time for submission. The assignments and the rest is not well planned.

Internships Opportunities

Internships are pretty good.all the studnets can apply for interships. But to go to internships its a bit challenging. You have to meet the dean and all. Its a bit tough process. Thats not a good thing. The college offers good interships but accessing them is the real trouble.

Placement Experience

The placement here is good. But you have to grill yourself as well. Nothing comes without doing anything. So if you want a good placement you’ll have to study well for that and maintain a good GPA as well. Top companies like Google, Microsoft, Adobe, McKinsey all come to our university. Highest package offered is 60 lacs while average is around 12 lacs.

Course Curriculum Overview

The faculty is very upfront and motivating. They will help you at your every step and solve your doubts. The exams are kept semester-wide and professors according to their needs hold quizzes quite often and other grading components are held aswell to clear and make the topic stronger for one student.

Ans. You’ll receive ample placement opportunities at BIT Mesra, given that you understand electronics well. You may consider joining Robolution, which will give you an edge over the others. Qualcomm visits the ECE department with good offers. A few years back, it appointed 4-5 ECE students for a package of 15 LPA. If you are willing to put in the extra effort and learn coding, you may get into good IT companies. Some of them being- Microsoft, Amazon and IBM. Academically, the ECE department of BIT Mesra isn’t the most ideal choice. This is because the department faculty is strict, and the curriculum is tough. If you couldn’t get CSE at BIT Mesra, you can try for IT instead of ECE. The ECE branch requires a lot of effort and time, which can be overwhelming.Read more

Ques. Is the electrical engineering department the best in IIT Bombay?

● Top Answer By Advait Joshi on 21 Mar 23

Ans. I haven’t heard of many people who actually join Electrical Engineering because they want to genuinely pursue Electrical. Rather most students take Electrical because their JEE Rank did not allow them admission to any other branch. In fact, some even take Electrical Engineering and opt for minors that match with their areas of interest. When it comes to interdisciplinary subjects, IIT Bombay provides the perfect chance to do so. What usually happens is that students are unaware of their area of interest while choosing their branch during admission. As a result they end up taking disciplines that match their ranks rather than interests. However, if you are clear about your choice of branch, don’t hesitate and go for it without thinking much of your rank. Although difficult, you can always change your branch if you later regret choosing that specific branch. I always suggest aspirants only choose the branch on the basis of their preferences and not the placements. Even if you land a good job, you will never be satisfied if you are working in an area that does not intrigue or excite you.Read more

Ques. Which is better, EE at DTU or ICE at NSIT?

● Top Answer By Tithi Aggrawal on 04 Jul 23

Ans. There is no better branch between EE at DTU and ICE at NSIT. It's all about preferences and inclinations. To help you make an informed decision let's talk about both the branches individually EE at DTU EE at DTU is core electrical engineering wherein you are taught concepts related to power, grids, electrical machines, etc.  For placements, core companies like BHEL and companies in the energy field visit the campus.  ICE at NSIT This branch has Control Engineering concepts along with electrical, electronics, and computer engineering.ICE has very light coursework and it's easy to maintain a good CGPA.  You also get enough time for your passions and extracurriculars. IT giants like Facebook, Google, etc. Don't allow ICE students to sit for placements.  Core companies that recruit students of this branch include Qualcomm, Texas Instruments, and others.  Non-tech companies like BCG, Bain, and JPMC allow all students to sit for placements. NSIT has a larger batch size and thus the competition here is less than DTU for placements but it still it cannot match the brand value of DTU. In all, both DTU and NSIT have similar opportunities and placements so with the right mindset you can do well at both colleges. Read more

Ques. Which is better: Engineering Physics at IIT Bombay or Electrical Engineering at IIT Roorkee?

● Top Answer By Sumit Bose on 18 Mar 23

Ans. It would be suggested to pursue Engineering Physics at IIT Bombay rather than Electrical Engineering at IIT Roorkee.  When it comes to studying physics at IITB, there are some key differences between JEE physics and college-level physics. Here are some important points to keep in mind: In JEE physics, you study formula derivations after brief explanations of concepts and practice a lot of problems in that topic. College-level physics courses are typically more rigorous in theoretical and mathematical content, and problems are solved to help you understand the concepts more deeply. While EE does not have any pure physics courses after the first year, it focuses on making you an electrical engineer. Core courses include analog and digital electronics, signals and systems, network theory, electronic devices, microprocessors, power electronics, and some relevant math courses. EP, on the other hand, has core courses like quantum mechanics, electrodynamics, statistics, relativity, classical mechanics, waves and optics, nuclear physics, etc. There are also important math courses up to your second year. EP trains you in core physics concepts and prepares you for experimental physics and electronics, giving you many options for your career path. You can work in theoretical or experimental physics, electronics, statistics and stochastics, CS-related research, or pursue higher studies in physics. When choosing between IITB and IIT Roorkee, consider factors like the quality of professors, campus culture, and location. IITB has excellent professors, a beautiful campus, and great cultural and sports scenes, and is close to TIFR, which provides opportunities for collaboration. When it comes to placements, most EP students go for higher studies because they are passionate about physics. For EE, core and non-core jobs are similar to those for other courses in terms of job security and salary packages. Finally, the "brand" of IITs, especially IIT Bombay, provides a sense of job security that can be reassuring for graduates.Read more

Ques. Which branch should I choose: B.Tech (Electrical Engineering) in IIT Roorkee or Dual Degree (Electrical Engineering) in IIT Kharaghpur?

● Top Answer By Shruti on 03 Jul 24

Ans. According to me, B.Tech (Electrical engineering) from IIT Roorkee is a better option due to the following reasons: B.Tech electrical engineering is a 4 year program while dual degree (electrical engineering) is a five year program. This means that choosing IIT Roorkee will help you enter the workforce earlier. The B.Tech curriculum focuses equally on theoretical and practical learning. This will prepare you for industry roles.  On the other hand, the dual degree curriculum gives more importance to research and specialisation in electrical engineering. Here are the 2023 placement figures for IIT Roorkee and IIT KGP: Parameters IIT KGP (Phase-I) IIT Roorkee Highest Package INR 2.6 CPA INR 1.3 CPA (Highest International- INR 1.06 CPA) Top Recruiters (2024) OLA, OneByZero, SecPod, SIRION LABS, TCS Research, and others. American Express, Barclays, Chegg Inc, Flipkart, Google, Microsoft, Myntra, and more. Unfortunately, the branch-wise placements are not available for either of these IITs.  I would recommend you choose B.Tech Electrical at IIT Roorkee over Dual Degree in Electrical at IIT KGP due to the above reasons. Read more

Ques. What should I take, electrical engineering at IIT Delhi or CSE at BITS Pilani?

● Top Answer By Parth on 09 Jul 24

Ans. IIT Delhi and BITS Pilani are two highly reputed institutions for engineering studies in India. I am a second year B.Tech Electrical student at IIT Delhi. During my time, I was faced with a similar dilemma. But I ended up choosing IIT Delhi over BITS Pilani for my studies. I would recommend you choose Electrical Engineering at IIT Delhi over CSE at BITS Pilani because of these reasons: Brand Value: IIT Delhi carries the prestigious “IIT'' tag  which holds more brand value than the “BITS Pilani'' tag. This will become important to you when applying to foreign universities for your higher education.  Fees: As a government institution, the fees of IIT Delhi is much more affordable as compared to BITS Pilani. This in turn, gives IIT Delhi a higher position in ROI (Return on Investment) because it offers even better placements.  Here are the important comparisons between Electrical Engineering at IIT Delhi and CSE at BITS Pilani: Parameters IIT Delhi Electrical BITS Pilani CSE Course Fee INR 99,650 (for sem-1)* INR 3.32 lakh (for sem-1) Highest Package (Overall for 2023) INR 2.5 CPA  INR 60. 75 LPA Average Package (Overall for 2023) INR 17.60 LPA INR 30.37 LPA CTC Range (for 2023) - (IT branches) INR 11 - 38 LPA Campus Recruiters Microsoft, CISCO, Accenture, Brain & company, Jaguar Land Rover India Limited EY, HSBC, KPMC, HCL, IBM, TCS *This is the fee-structure for General/OBC students with family income>5 LPA. Thus, I would suggest you choose Electrical Engineering at IIT Delhi over CSE at BITS Pilani.Read more

Ques. How good is IIT Delhi Electrical Engineering (Power and Automation)?

● Top Answer By Dipti Sinha on 03 Apr 23

Ans. IIT Delhi’s Electrical Engineering department has a number of branches like Communication Engineering (Communications Group, Electrical Engineering, IIT Delhi) Control and Automation (Control & Automation) Computer Technology (Computer Technology) Integrated Electronics Circuits (Integrated Electronics and Circuits) Power Electronics, Electrical Machines and Drives (Power Electronics, Electrical Machines, and Drives) Power Systems This allows Electrical Engineering students to choose from a wide range of topics and they don’t have to restrict their area of interest. However, to provide core electrical engineering education and research opportunities, there is a separate Electrical specialization in Power and Automation. Owing to the small batch size and top-notch lab facilities, IIT Delhi’s Electrical department is highly coveted and is funded by Industry donations and partnerships. The performance rate of the students of this department has been increasing over the past few years and these students continue to perform well in each batch.  However, it is important to note that academic rigor is high in this department and requires a high level of commitment. But your efforts don’t go wasted because of the excellent packages offered to the students of this branch. I have rated the program based on some aspects to give a better idea. Global recognition: Top 0.1% Scholastic Aptitude: Top 0.1% Work Ethics: Top 0.1% Placement assistance: Top 0.1% Program Support: Top notch  Infrastructure: Top notch  Faculty: Top 0.1% Research output: Not among the Top 50 global programs Do your part of the research and talk to people who have completed this program and then make the final decision.Read more

Ques. Which is a better option: IIT Bombay mechanical vs IIT Kanpur electrical vs IIT Roorkee CS?

● Top Answer By Vaibhav Bansal on 25 Jun 24

Ans. The general preference order is  College wise - IIT Bombay > IIT Kanpur > IIT Roorkee Branch wise - CS > Mechanical ~ Electrical. However, this is a popular trend, and you don't have to follow it. It is best to make a decision based on your individual preferences. Doing something that interests you is considerably superior in the long run to doing something you dislike solely for money since, after a few years, money no longer motivates you. Here are some information to make your decision easier:- The placement scenario for EE in IIT Kanpur is good and stands next to the CS department in the table. Though EE is the largest department when compared with others it still maintains its record well in placements. The NIRF Ranking of IIT Bombay is 3 , IIT Kanpur is 4 and IIT Roorkee is 5 . The Average placement at IIT Bombay Mechanical is 21.82 LPA with IIT Kanpur Electrical is 26.27 LPA and IIT Roorkee CSE is 22 LPA. More than 250 companies visited IIT Kanpur campus in 2023. EE offers specialisations like VLSI, SPCom, RF & Microwave, Power Engineering, Control & Automation . Placements for some of these specializations are  100 %, especially for VLSI, SPCom & RF. Keeping aside the public’s opinion, my preference order is  IIT Kanpur Electrical > IIT Roorkee CS > IIT Bombay Mechanical Read more

Ques. Which is better academically (preferably CSE and ECE branch), NIT Manipur. NIT Meghalaya, NIT Sikkim, NIT Nagaland or Tezpur University?

● Top Answer By Dona Ghosh, on 11 Nov 21

Ans. Before choosing an institute, think about what your requirements are. Here are some points that might help you make a decision. If your aim is a job in a corporate sector then the NITs will definitely be better options. Opt for either NIT Meghalaya or Nagaland.  Do not compare their placements with older NITs as it could prove disappointing. Tezpur University (TU) is also known to provide good placement opportunities but it is more concentrated to only the CSE department.  You may get placements from a few IT companies, but overall placements are concerned NITs are definitely better than TU. Students who are interested in learning and exploring research fields can opt for TU as well.  Tezpur University has very good faculty strength in ECE & CSE.  The two departments are much older too.  The CSE faculty and labs of TU are better than NIT Silchar.  TU has got a good research environment as there are multiple departments of Science and Engineering, which is not the case of the mentioned NITs. Therefore it is suggested that if you aim for an immediate job opportunity, go for NITs. For students who feel confident that they can get a job off campus or are more inclined towards academics and research can go for TU.Read more
