Shiv Nadar University, also known as SNU Noida is a private university established under Shiv Nadar Foundation. According to NIRF 2023, SNU is ranked 62 among universities and ranked 95 overall in India. Founded in 2011, the university is well-known for its B.Tech, M.Tech, MBA and M.Sc programs. Currently, the university offers 20+ UG, PG, Doctorate and Diploma courses under Management, Science, Arts and Research streams. Admissions to SNU Noida Courses are provided solely based on national-level entrance exams, such as JEE Main, GATE, CAT, MAT, XAT and UGC NET for admission to the UG/ PG and PhD courses. The University also conducts an entrance test (SNUSAT) for admission to B.Tech, B.Sc, BA and BMS. Candidates can apply by visiting the official website of the university.

The University also comprises of 5 constituent institutes: School of Humanities & Social Sciences, School of Engineering, School of Natural Sciences, School of Management & Entrepreneurship and Academy of Continuing Education. In addition, to give international possibilities, SNU has signed MoUs with overseas universities such as Deakin University and the University of California. High potential academic achievers are acknowledged by the university by receiving generous scholarships that cover part/ full expenses for the entire duration of the program. The opportunity of ‘Research and Teaching Assistantship’ allows students at the graduate level, to get the opportunity to delve deeper into their disciplines and teach the undergraduates. Merit-cum-Means Scholarship: The University extends its support to financially-constrained students with academic strengths and potential. The students with 92% and above score in Grade 12 Board examinations with a family income below INR 12,00,000 a year.

Rural Scholarship: SNU covers the academic and living expenses in full for high-potential students from economically weak backgrounds, whose family income may be below INR 3,00,000 a year.

Sports Scholarship: Shiv Nadar University offers up to 100% Sports Scholarship to winners or participants at international, national, state-level tournaments in respective sports/games, recognized by national/international sports bodies. SNU Noida Facilities

Hostels: The residential student hostels are state-of-the-art as well as gender-segregated. All rooms have basic in-built utilities and are designed as a comfortable independent unit. Each hostel is fitted with water coolers fitted with RO and purifiers, a pantry on the ground floor, microwave ovens, and other facilities. All rooms and washrooms are well-fitted. The lady’s washroom is designed well and feminine hygiene has been kept in mind. All the common areas of the hostels are Wi-Fi enabled. Both AC and Non-AC accommodation are provided for the students. The AC accommodation is provided on a first-come-first-served basis.
Library: The university has a centrally air-conditioned plush library that offers an extensive collection of books, scientific and technical journals, as well as electronic reference materials that satisfies the academic and research needs of students and the faculty community. The library also offers online facilities like Library Catalogue, Journals/ e-books, Repository, Resource Sharing, Thesis, and dissertations as well as E- Newspapers.
Transport: Transport services are provided for students and all members of the staff to facilitate travel to the city and any neighboring places during weekends. The services are provided to the students on a first-come, first-served basis.The student transport committee plans and manages this service, whereas the time for the bus service is decided based on demand and seasonal conditions.
Cafe: The central library building consists of a cafe that serves as a common area for the faculty members and students to interact over hot sumptuous food outside the classroom. The cafe also offers a variety of food, snacks, and beverages for a quick bite in-between meals.
Dining: The university offers several types of cuisines from all 27 states. There are two large Dining Halls (DH 1 & 2) that helps cater to the cultural and food preferences of students. The highest standards of hygiene consciousness are kept in mind. The dining areas are also well–furnished and fully equipped. Apart from the two main Dining Halls, there are also standards of hygiene consciousness and a food court in the main academic block; a cafe in the central library building and a variety of snacks are sold by the kiosks at the hostel block. The student-elected mess committee and the University administration closely monitors the quality of food served on campus.
Safety and Security: The safety and the security of its students and faculty members are taken very seriously by the university. The entire campus is constantly being monitored by a multi-tiered, 24X7 security system. The Campus Security Team is also on duty for 24 hours a day, 7 days a week as well as 365 days in a year which also includes holidays and academic breaks. The security personnel patrols the campus round-the-clock. High definition CCTV cameras monitor the academic areas, hostel blocks, and residential areas on the campus. Access to the campus is also strictly controlled.

Ques. What is the attendance policy of SNU Noida?

Ans. All students are required to attend the classes in every registered course. A shortfall of not more than 15% is allowed in each course. The student may be condoned for attendance shortfall beyond the regular amount of 15%. This is however not beyond a total shortfall of 25% which may be due to medical or duty leave.

Ques. Does SNU Noida provide any On-Campus jobs to students?

Ans. On-campus jobs are provided to students to help earn additional income. This helps them to imbibe a sense of accountability and responsibility. The possible on-campus jobs offered by the university include assistance in laboratory and library management, managing help desks, aid departments, monitoring projects, conducting and analyzing various feedback in enabling functions of the University like Admissions. Jobs at Career Development Centre, Dean Student Affairs Office, Security, Hostels, Sports, and allied activities, etc are also offered under this policy.

Ans. The campus provides 24X7 on-campus Physical & Mental health services and has also tied up with ICICI Lombard to provide Medical Insurance Cover for all the students. This ensures that medical issues that require hospitalization beyond the on-campus services will be covered. The salient features of the Policy include: - Valid for 12 months, 4000+ hospitals are covered across the country under this policy, no room capping required, there's no waiting period. Ambulance charges may vary up to ₹1500 per hospitalization and also the Pre Hospitalization and Post Hospitalization for 30 days & 60 days respectively are covered as well.

Ans. Shiv Nadar University has taken several anti-ragging measures and follows a zero-tolerance level policy against ragging. It will be different in my case . I want to get into aeroplane field so I just wanted a degree. Besides that I want to know about people and adapt to fast culture. I found that Shiv Nadar University will fit perfect for Mee .

big campus of 350 acre ,ample to explore and roam around
not so many people are taken in on yearly basis

Dislikes

nothing outside campus ,village and everything is far away
proffs are only from IIT but dont know how to teach

this college was near to my house and siblings live nearby this college , admission in take is low as compared to another colleges .for engineer batch online or offline test or more than 95% in jee advanced

My experience at Shiv Nadar University

Likes

The campus infrastructure is beyond beautiful. It is the kind of infrastructure which makes you want to spend more time with nature and out in the open. The campus is home to a variety of plantations and animals.
The mess food makes sure that you dont miss out on your typical home cooked meal. The mess a heaven for non vegetarians with Chicken available in every meal every day. A midnight meds from 11pm to 2am is also there to cater to your midnight cravings.

Dislikes

The faculty for btech can be a bit rigid at times when it comes to the curriculum. Most of the students end up studying through online resources instead of the lectures provided.
The placement which is claimed to be good is actually nice but majority of students end up with an average package in some average company. The authority spots the children who they think are doing well and only help them when it comes to placement.

Admission:

I got admitted in MUJ, VIT, KIIT and SRM as well. However i decided to choose this college because of the freedom and lifestyle the i could get. As it is a residential campus it is compulsory to stay on campus, at the same time it is easy for me to travel back home during the weekend for major festivals. The campus is also just 1 hour away from the airport for those who are from a different state. I got into every college i applied to but SNU somehow had my heart. Due to it's curriculum flexibility and proximity to my home. You can get admission through your SAT, JEE aur SNUSAT score. The SNUSAT is an admission test carried out by shiv nadar university itself. It is a basic calculative and adaptive knowledge test. For a few courses a one on one interview is also held after you clear the SNUSAT.

SNU : An Expensive but Quality College

Likes

The male to female ratio is almost equal with females dominating in some courses.
Really amazing infrastructure. State of the art labs and sports facilities. Really amazing classrooms.

Dislikes

Scholarships have been heavily reduced in the past few years.
Hostel curfew for first year students after 12AM

Admission:

I was applying abroad but due to some financial circumstances I could not pursue that. I got acceptances from NYU, Dartmouth, Purdue, Bowdoin. I chose SNU because it is a uni like abroad but in India and ofcourse at a lower price. I had applied to SNU via collegeboard SAT. Exams accepted by my course are JEE,SAT,SNUSAT. Most students prefer SNUSAT. Its cutoff is not public knowledge. JEE cutoff for my course is around 93 percentile. SAT cutoff is around 1350 while I scored 1520.

Likes

The campus is really big and you will find yourself really close to the nature.
You have all the sports facility including horse riding.

Dislikes

They don't celebrate all the festivals like they should like janmashtmi etc
Sometimes the mess gets crowded so there are longer lines

Admission:

If I am honest when I saw the curriculum of my college I was hell-bent on taking admission here assuming I got it. They have a really flexible curriculum in which along with your major course you can have a minor and take electives. So I applied to this college and got in. I also little bit on the CUET exam but when I got into this college I didn't apply anywhere else. I know this was risky but it worked for me. I had applied very early in this college so I had the buffer of applying somewhere else if I didn't get it. I personally gave SNUSAT which is the entrance exam by SNU itself. Once you get selected you have to submit a form and then you have to clear an interview round. The exam is not that tough but you will have to study for it.

Life at SNU

Likes

The environment here is very good,with worldclass facilities. The mess provides a good variety of food with good taste and hygiene.
SNU has a large well trained staff force who are available 24×7.

Dislikes

Its locaton is a little off from the main NCR region having less modes of transport to travel,though they provide university shuttles on weekends to Noida.
Ragging here is completely banned and no senior even dares to do so, but in my opinion some amount of ragging should be allowed as it enhances your bond with the seniors.

Admission:

I got admission in SNU through SNUSAT exam, I also got admission in VIT Chennai CSE,Siddhaganga CSE but opted for SNU as i reside in Gurgaon and its nearby and its placement average is also good with good facilities.

MY EXPERIENCE AT SHIV NADAR UNIVERSITY IS NOW YOURS

Likes

Infrastructure is wide and beautiful with all sports facility, gym, biodiversity park and much more
As everyone stays in hostel so it feels good to stay there

Dislikes

Very hard to score good marks as most of the courses are not relative and difficuly is really high
Sometimes water gets clogged during monsoon near some hostels

Admission:

Admission process was not easy at all they took an online snusat exam which was consist of aptitude, logical reasoning, physics, maths components. This process can be improved by improving that platform on which they were taking the exam and also if they start taking interviews they can definitely select better candidates for the branch because i have seen some really worthy candidates in mechanical branch thayt were not offered cs and some really bad candidates who were offered cs who should have not been even given admission in this university

The Start of My Shiv Nadar University Journey!

SNU's fouc on holistic development: they go beyond academics by strongly encouraging extracurricular activities
The campus and the people are great as they provide a sense of comfort specially for those who experience the residential life for the first time

Dislikes

A lot of construction taking place (it is a new university in its development phase so temporarily it feels like there's a lot going on)
The location is a big factor for some people and the university is placed in a inconvenient location as there is not much around it

Admission:

For my course the eligible criteria is 70% aggregate in CBSE and for International baccalaureate which I took is 28. There are 3 ways you can apply 1) you can give the SNUSAT, once cleared there is a person interview taken. 2) if you have given SAT you can apply with those marks and if eligible will be taken for a personal interview. 3) same for, if you have given the ACT. They also do ask for undertaking of a anti-ragging form and a undertaking from guardian which is IMPORTANT and are very strict about. The exams only take place 2wice, mid-term and end-term but depending on the professor you can have multiple quizes sort of tests or assignments too. I don't think there is any issue with the admission process. Just remember to check the SPAM email thoroughly as the acceptance letter does get lost in there.

The Shiv Nadar University-Worth it?

Likes

The faculty is actually top class, the Institute actually give a lot of preference and priority to the professional professor.
Experiment and lab based learning can be seen here

Dislikes

Not gonna lie its actually kinda tough to make into this collage.
Very strict poliy regarding attendance (75%)

Admission:

First you must have scored above 70% in board in the core 3 subjects ex-pcm, my jeet%le was 90.82 and i got ece, well if your percent is low you can also give SNSUAT, collages own admission paper just like bitsat. (Imp-its not that easy). If you visit the campus they will give you a campus tour take you through everything in the campus. Exams are tough for me though it might be easier if you study har, though I am able to maintain a good score in the course.

The things that I Liked about the college were ambience, focus on studies etc.

Admission:

We had to take an admission test, based on which results we were alloted our preferred streams The application form is available on the college's official site. The dates to apply are around January to March. The exam was held in 2 slots, where I gave the exam in 2nd slot. The exam was for 2-3 hours, and the difficulty was moderate.
