Students in the program have the opportunity to engage in internships at prestigious institutions such as IITs, IISc, NITs, and IISERs, with nearly all participants completing at least one internship during the 5-year course. While internships with companies are less frequent, some students manage to secure international internships. The institution hosts diverse research labs run by professors, offering numerous opportunities for students to explore their fields of interest, with professors providing support through letters of recommendation for external internships.
Students from SC and ST categories benefit from tuition fee waivers, and about 30% of students receive Inspire scholarships. However, post-matric scholarships, while helpful, do not cover all expenses, and there is no tuition fee waiver based on income, which is a noted drawback. BSMS students face limited job opportunities due to their rigorous academic schedule, which primarily involves classes, tutorials, and labs. Nonetheless, online jobs with flexible work hours are available as an alternative employment option.
