Integrated Ph.D. Programme is a research programme. At the end of the successful completion, Master of Science and Ph.D. degrees are awarded.

The first three semesters will consist of core and elective courses specialized in one subject (Biology, Chemistry, Mathematics or Physics). The fourth semester will consist of advanced courses and project work. After the successful completion of comprehensive and project work, the student will continue with research leading to the Ph.D. degree.

• A Bachelor’s degree in Biological Sciences / Chemical Sciences / Mathematical Sciences / Physical Sciences / Engineering / Technology and related areas as applicable to individual Schools, under the 10+2+¾ system.
• Candidates seeking admission to School of Physics must have a valid score in Joint Entrance Screening Test (JEST).
• The minimum requirement for admission to the programme is 55% marks or 6.0 out of 10 CGPA in the Bachelor’s degree (as declared by the University).
• The minimum requirement in the qualifying degree is relaxed for SC/ST and PD candidates as per the rules of Government of India.

Note- Students appearing in the final year Bachelor degree examination are also eligible to apply. However, if selected, their admission will be subjected to fulfilling the minimum eligibility criteria for the individual school.

• Applications for the programme will be invited through press advertisement and announcement at the Institute’s website.
• Short-listed candidates who have applied for School of Biology, Chemistry and Mathematics will be called for a written test and those shortlisted in the written test have to appear for interview(s). In the School of Physics, candidates with a valid JEST scorecard will be called for the interview.

The shortlisted applicants will be invited to attend a written test/interview at IISER TVM. The final selection of the candidates will solely be based on the performance in the interview.

In the School of Biology, there will be two rounds of interviews. Applicants should complete the online application form at the official Ph.D. portal of IISER Kerala.

For the School of Biology, it is mandatory for all the candidates to submit a short research proposal of 300-400 words, which should clearly state a research problem you find interesting to address and how you approach solving this. While applying online, please upload this proposal under the section "Statement of Purpose". Please note the proposal does not need to be related to the research ongoing at the School of Biology, IISER TVM. The proposal will be used to evaluate your scientific aptitude and will be a major criterion for short-listing candidates for the interview.
