Faculty

The faculty to student ratio is decent like how it would be for any other college. Since the intake for IISER Pune is low hence it creates a peaceful and competitive environment to study. There are enough TAs to help the faculty and students in the labs and tutorial classes. Famous and reputed researchres like Mr.Bhas Bapat for physics and Mr.Pramod Pillai also teach in this college.Examinations in the forms of quizes are held almost every week apart from the mid sem and end sem exams. However it is a little difficult to get a good cgpa here due to very high competition as one of the most brilliant students across the nation come to study here.

Campus Life

The campus life is awesome here like any other government colleges. There is no in time neither for college gate nor for hostel. There are many fests and festive celebrations throughout held the year. We have a huge library that has plenty of books related to science and other genres. The library is open to access 24/7 for all the students here and gives us a peaceful environment for studying. This college is very great for all the sporties out there! We have a huge cricket ground, football ground and what not. Overall the campus life is great here!

Faculty

I think nearly 1:2 .this for maths department . faculty are the very friendly with students and faculty are the mentors of student they teach us how to do good in life rather than academics and all . I liked my all faculties of maths but I liked most prof mp Rajan , prof utpal manna , prof sheetal dharmati , prof dhanya t rajendran prof viji z Thomas .this are the very good proffesor they taught me how to do good in life as well as academic .in maths the exams are too tough reason behind this to develop critical thinking in students .this course Is relevant to develop entrepreneurial skills , business and innovation idea , to solve problems .I think 10% students fail in exam then they will give repeat exam then some of them will pass and remaining will fail and they have to again repeat that course if the student fail more than 4 subject then he have to repeat whole semester .to approach faculty we can mail or we have their contact no. Also so we can send a sms as well

Fees and Financial Aid

The year wise fee for iiser TVM is 1 lac for gen and for sc st and PWD tution fee is waiver means they have to pay only for hostel , mess and other facilities . Tution fee is 40k , admission fee is around 35k , lab fee and other including charges is ~ 10k for all hostel and all for mess is ~14 k this is all for per semester .and for sc and st and PWD they don't have to pay tution fee . There are many scholarship which was avail by my batchmate and me , I got inspire scholarship from dst gov of India and amount of scholarship is 60k per annum while my friends got reliance foundation scholarship and amount is 40k per annum .for inspire scholarship you have to be in top 10 k in jee advance and top 1% in state .

the population is very less that including all batches it is less than 2000 members. we have club activities every now and then, college fest once a year, a common science day and respective days like phy day, chem day etc.all festivals are celebrated as we have a very diversified population which means that there are people from almost every state of india, we have top class lecture halls but the main library is still under construction we have two smaller libraries ,the main huge library bust be opend somewhere in 2025.the lab facilities are very good needs no comparison. we have inter isser sports meet and cultural meet every year too.sport and culturals are given importance. we also go to iit tirupathi which is very close to iiser to have matches

Faculty

the teacher student ratio differs for each year as we choose our major only in 4th semester .until tht all our batch are taught together which will be 1:273 . as im just in 1st sem I'm not fully aware about existing faculties but as aspiring scientist we have great researchers in the campus. even our professors are primarily researchers rather than teaching staffs so the exposure we get towards research and deveopment is excellent. we usually have 2 quizes, mid sem and an end sem which is relatively graded. the exams difficulties is above average but since even if an individual is pcb or pcm students in 12th ,it'll be mandatory to study math an dbio for all in first 3 sem which would be difficult.

We have two semesters Vasanth and Varsha. Vasanth (Jan to May) has a fee range of 43k-50k. And Varsha(Aug- Dec) whis is again for 43k to 50k depending on which year you are studying in. Mess fee is separately 17-20k per semester. For SC/ST students it's shockingly low prices which is like a total cost of less than 30k per semester. There are scholarships available for those students who aren't droppers they will get an amount of 50-60k per year.

Campus Life

Very good campus you will enjoy being here and the nature and greenery. Shuttle services are given to make your lives easy and also many restaurants are there other than mess. Labs are the most celebrated sites. Plus you have mountain view with drizzles all the time.

Campus Life

So many kinds of fest are there in this campus. Example: Anvesha(science fest), ishya (cultural fest). Time to time they will conduct some clubs event as well. They are so many clubs which are divided into two ie science related and cultural. About the Library, there's a temporary setup for that here which is a small but organised and neatly kept building. The Library is currently under construction, which will be done soon. The upcoming building is very big and spacious. The classroom are really provides best technological support. Equipment are of High quality. We have biometric attendance here. The facilities are really really cool in classroom. The level of cleanliness is exceptional. The sports activities are offered by campus. We have intra and inter iiser meet her per year. The facilities they provide for these are really good. There is student council here which is run by students. They make decisions regarding welfare of students, health center, cafes and their finances.

Fees and Financial Aid

The year wise fees payment for me will be close 1.2 lakhs. These include mess and sem fee. The tution fee is 40400 for my batch for the one semester. Also I have observed a trend fee change in each year. It's increasing new batches. As a conclusion, it's 49630 per semester, excluding the mess charges which is around 17000 and same for all batches in bs ms. I belongs to obc ncl category. I got admission under general category due to some documentation issue. The institution provide reduction of fees to SC ST community only. For them the course fee is completely deducted from the the sem fees. So I would say its around 9000 for them per sem. But they will have to pay the sem fees fully. I don't think institution is providing scholarship and financial aids to the needed ones. But they are constantly providing us information regarding deadline and eligibility for scholarship offered by other organisations. Example : reliance scholarship Overall it's a good institution

Campus Life is amazing. It's situated in the hills, even though there's no winter here. The scenery is perfect and you would feel like you're living in your dreams. There are different clubs, dance, drama, music, etc. which can be an amazing opportunity to portray talents and hobbies. There's a football turf, cricket nets, an indoor stadium for basketball and tennis, table tennis, indoor games like chess and carrom, a dance room and a music room. There's also a well functioning pride club. Different festivals from around the country are also celebrated here. The library is well equipped with the essential books and magazines available both offline and online. The mess is also student run.

Course Curriculum Overview

The Integrated BS-MS course provides the first two years of Foundation course where the student is supposed to study all the four science subjects, Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics and Biology, along with Computer science and interdisciplinary courses. It can be difficult for people without a strong maths background to study Mathematics in the first two years. This course basically introduces us to the interdisciplinary side of science, the side which lets us explore rather than the applicative side of science. Integrated BS-MS is good if a student wants to pursue research in any field.

Fees and Financial Aid

Tution fees almost remains constant once you reach third year. If there is a hike there is a little hike for foundation level. There are scholarship given like National Scholarship schemes, etc. The NSS covers almost 30,000 to 40,000 feess per year for the course and DST-Inspire covers almost 60k.

Course Curriculum Overview

I have interest in research so I opted for this institute. It is very similar to outside world because we have pure sciences and applied sciences too. They could make class more interesting for students and exams are on a moderate level. Nothing comes copy paste from book.

● Top Answer By Vishal Sharma on 20 Jun 24

Ans. I think I am qualified to answer this question as I graduated from IIT Kharagpur Geology and Geophysics department and I am working for ARM Group in the Middle East. IIT Kharagpur is ranked 6th in NIRF ranking while IIT Jammu is ranked 67th . IIT KGP focuses on holistic development and thus has a rich extracurricular culture that helps develop bonds between students of different branches. IIT Kharagpur has a median salary of 18 LPA , whereas IIT Jammu pays 17 LPA . IIT Kharagpur is one of the oldest IITs, established in 1951 . It has better infrastructure and a larger campus area of 2100 acres.Read more
