What Students Say?
Likes
- Campus: it's a great place. A newly constructed college. A hill view from balcony or window will make your morning and evening worthy. Hostels, academic, admin building, lecture complex, library construction completed.
- Academic: We don't have the burden of studying a lot. It's totally free here. U can read extra stuff. Rather than a syllabus and even discuss them with the senior or the prof. It all depends on its interest. The staffs are awesome here.
Dislikes
- The time boundaries is one of the thing I don't like. As we all are college students and we are not child anymore but after all this there are restrictions on us. You can't outside of the campus after 6 PM. We have to return to room before 12:30AM
- Funds are low for our students activities. So it makes us irritated sometimes.
Course Curriculum Overview
First of all, BSMS is an integrated course and in this course, you will learn all the aspects of science from depth to a greater levels. The subjects are made according to national exam syllabus. Everything is great here. For the first 2years, you will learn all subjects maths, physics chemistry and biology. In 3 rd year we got the option for major. Here taking one minor subject is compulsory and this will also help u in refreshing your mind. Exams: they don't ask direct questions or theoretical concepts directly, i fact they will ask you experimental questions so that you can think like a researcher. We have 2 quiz, one mid sem and end sem. Frequency is better for us.
Internships Opportunities
As this is a research college, internship is optional for us. College will not provide you internship. You have to ask professor of the college or different research institutes, college for internships opportunities. In internship, you will learn basic and advanced techniques and may do project also.
Fees and Financial Aid
The fees structure is different for general and sc, at. You may refer to official website also. Yes the tution fees is increased from past few years. Right now the fees is around 1 Lakh per year. As a government college, it's a bit expensive. For food, the pay and eat system is there. So no need to worry. But no need to worry as there are scholarships also for example NSP, INSPIRE, your State scholarship, Reliance scholarship etc.
Campus Life
As our college that is IISER Tirupati is newly constructed (except sports complex and some more things). We have everything that a student need in college. We all celebrates different festivals like Onam, Diwali, Saraswati Puja, Ganesh chaturthi etc. We also have our fest that is known as Vivante that usually happens in the month of March. Our library complex is not opened yet as they are currently in shifting process but we have a temporary library that have all books and journals that we require in our academics. If any book is not available, one can ask the librarian and they will share on your mail id. Classroom: As the buildings are new classrooms are equipped with world class facilities, the batch strength is around 200 that is big so to handle this we have 2 big screen TVs at back and that focus on board so that last bench guys can also easily see the board. Fully AC and comfortable seats. Different clubs are also there and it gives a positive impact to us.
Hostel Facilities
So our hostels are new and well furnished. I never face problems in hostel. 2 students in one room is the rule for the accomodation. We both get choice of taking room with whomever I want to. The room is equipped with 2 almirahs, 2 bed, 2 study table and 2 book shelf all are at both side. We have 2 windows in each room. The rooms are well furnished and I never face any problem. We dont have personal balcony. There is 2-3 common balconies in each floor. Food: currently we have the pay and eat system in our mess. Food quality is fine but not so much good. And it's a bit expensive too. Around 4-5k will be the cost of the mess per month, but it varies from person to person. The registration for hostel is compulsory for BSMS. BSMS have to stay in hostel only and the charges will include in the semester fees.
Admission
So basically admission is done through National level exam that is IAT (don't confuse with IIT). IAT that means IISER Admission Test. The application fees is Rs1000 (it may vary). So the syllabus is Physics, chemistry, biology and maths. Fresher, dropper and double dropper are eligible to give exam. You will find the application form on the website of IAT and all the details will be there only. Yes, I availed reservation and you will get benefit of reservation in fees of the college. The exam is currently easy to difficult. No need to panic.
Faculty
The faculty at IISER Tirupati are best and outstanding. They really care about students. The main thing is that you can interact freely. Professor are highly educated and have a lots of research experiences. You will really like them. Faculty number is better, they are recruiting more professors. Each student gets a mentor for the 5 year course.
Interview Experience
For admission, written test is compulsor that is IAT (IISER ADMISSION TEST) which includes class 11th and 12th syllabus (physics, chemistry, biology and maths). The difficukty level is easy to moderate. The counselling starts after results and it gives seat on the basis of rank.
