Course Curriculum Overview

4

This college is a research oriented college and not like the nation's other engineering colleges. They focus more on practical applications and lab work than theoretical rote learning. Its a very unique experience to be studying in this college.

Internships Opportunities

5

IISER PUNE is famous for its summer internship programme. They offer summer internships for various courses in IIT Madras, Qintern etc. Some intership programs are given even abroad in places like Weizmann Institute of Science, Israel and some institutes in Australia and other such contries as well. Students can choose subject of their own interest for these internships.

Placement Experience

3

Students are eligible for sitting for summer internship programmes of iiser pune. Not many software companies visit this college for placements as most of the students of this college sit for higher studies for their PhDs or publish research articles. However a student who wishes to get a job in corporate can get an online course of computer science done and apply for off campus placements as the IISER PUNE tag value along with good skills are more than enough for you to get a high paying job.

Fees and Financial Aid

IISER Pune classifies the fee structure into two categories. The first category stands for Gen/OBC/EWC/KM and the 2nd for SC/ST/PwD. The total fees for the first category(including hostel) is Rs 71,502/sem and for the 2nd category is Rs.27047/sem. This includes Admission fee of 3k for both categories, Hostel Admission fee of 1k, Alumni fee of 1k, Convocation fee-3.5k, Tution fee-44455 and other sports, library fees.

Campus Life

5

The campus life is awesome here like any other government colleges. There is no in time neither for college gate nor for hostel. There are many fests and festive celebrations throughout held the year. We have a huge library that has plenty of books related to science and other genres. The library is open to access 24/7 for all the students here and gives us a peaceful environment for studying. This college is very great for all the sporties out there! We have a huge cricket ground, football ground and what not. Overall the campus life is great here!

Hostel Facilities

5

The hostels here are extremely affordable, not charging more than 5k/sem which is very low compared to other colleges. We have 2 bedded sharing system. We do not have facilities of air conditioner or stuff but thats not much required either since the weather here in pune is cold anyways. We need to purchase our own mattress and other stuff like buckets etc from or outside the campus as that is not included in the hostel room. We are provided with a good study table, night lamp, cupboard and all the essentials.

Admission

Since my childhood I have always had a very keen interest in the world of science and it was my dream to become a research Scientist. This college is the best suited college for fulfiling this purpose of mine. I had appeared for JEE exam and had got accepted into many colleges but I never wanted to follow the rat race of engineering so this was the college I opted for. For taking admission in this college you need to give the IAT entrance exam. If you qualify this examination you will be able to get admission in one of the most top research colleges of India namely- IISC banglore, IISER Pune, Bhopal, Mohali, TVM, Tirupati(in priority order).

Faculty

4

The faculty to student ratio is decent like how it would be for any other college. Since the intake for IISER Pune is low hence it creates a peaceful and competitive environment to study. There are enough TAs to help the faculty and students in the labs and tutorial classes. Famous and reputed researchres like Mr.Bhas Bapat for physics and Mr.Pramod Pillai also teach in this college.Examinations in the forms of quizes are held almost every week apart from the mid sem and end sem exams. However it is a little difficult to get a good cgpa here due to very high competition as one of the most brilliant students across the nation come to study here.

Interview Experience

5

No, there were Group Discussuon, interviews etc. You just need to write the IAT entrance test and on the basis of the rank you score, you will be allotted in the top research colleges of india including IISC Banglore and other IISERs.

Night Life

5

No in time for hostel or campus. Students can roam around or outside the campus whenever they feel like without seeking permissions from anyone. There are no restrictions as such for anything in the college. The library is open 24/7 for the access of students. We also have MDC or the mid night canteen where we can satisy our mid night cravings. The campus is extremely safe for all students to roam around even at night. The watchmen and other staffs here our very friendly.

Placement Experience:

Our college encourages diversification but due to the primary aim being research, most people go for a career in academia but placements are also provided in major companies but the percentage of students going for this choice is low.

Course Curriculum Overview:

The curriculum is great in doing what it is meant to, and as a structural BSMS course. It gives you more information then a classical Bsc course and prepares you entirely for a PhD is the topic of your choosing. What got me here is the freedom of choosing, you can choose whatever courses you want, regardless of what major you want, and best of all, you dont need to qualify for a major to graduate. Hence there is a complete freedom of choice over what cources you like and what you want to pursue later in your academic carrier. There are a few nooks where teaching methods could be better but that translates from professor to professor and is not a complete view of the college itself. Exams occur every two months, and there are many quizzes in between, this leaves no time to rest for students who are jumping from one quiz to another and are instantly faced with exams. The difficulty level is again decided by the course coordinator and is mostly okay for all.

Course Curriculum Overview:

Course contents are good but could be too lengthy for some as the semester is only of 4 months which is not sufficient for such large course contents. The grading is relative which gives fairness to everyone.

The courses which are offered are very up to date and give and actual conceptual understanding of the topics the courses are such that it is relevant to the real world applicantions and program our mind in thinking in a research and analytical perspective. I think the current course curriculum is enough and really good no need to improve further. Frequency of exams are 2 months Midsems and endsems and quizzes in Between then.

Placement Experience:

The campus is one of the factors why the IITs are hyped this much. The placements are good with the average placements clocking somewhere around 23.5 LPA. Students become eligible for placements from the third year, where they can complete an internship, and if they get a PPO, they are good to go. Companies like JANE STREET, BANE AND COMPANY, NVIDIA, and FANG visit the campus for placements, providing offers as high as four crores per annum. The 4 cr was offered by JANE STREET for HIGH-FREQUENCY TRADING. The percentage of students graduating is close to 80% , the remaining are students going for higher studies or preping for some government exams, there is rarely an unemployed graduating student.

Placement Experience:

Placement opportunities at IIT Bombay are very good. But getting a high paying job depends on an individual - how skilled and qualified they become after 4 years. If you lay focus on academics and build your personality with all the resources and networks you have IIT Bombay, you'll definitely land at a very good place in your life. There are also startups and business opportunities. Entrepreneurship is encouraged by the departments.

Placement Experience:

As there was placement in the year 2021 which is nearly 56 percent. Around 20 companies visited campus like TCS, AKASH, CIPLA etc. for placement. But most of student do not like placement becuase they have their plan about research so they do phd and post doc in their career which they think best according to their opinion. But in 2021 the avg. package was 8 lpa and each participant have 2 offer. Also the highest package is 13 lpa, which is very nice as compare. but the main reson is research that's why placement is not so higher.
