Course Curriculum Overview

5

The curriculum is great and inclusive, befitting a top college. It is relevant to the field and the professors are mostly great scientific minds of the community. It is also in touch with the standard of teaching in various top universities of the world.

Internships Opportunities

5

Various internship opportunities are available on and off campus in both industries and other colleges. Professors take and recommend students to labs where they can work and companies are willing to take students from this prestigious college

Placement Experience

5

The placement opportunities are great with various companies approaching students to snap them up in fields from consultancy to software to pharmaceuticals.lots of students also end up working on labs of various professors that they have built a rapport with.

Fees and Financial Aid

Year wise total fees are 63000 including lab fees, hostel fees, medical insurance, library fees, exam fees, exam transcript fees, etc. The mess charges are seperate but subsidised. Medical insurance covers a lot of expenses in hospitals.

Campus Life

5

The main college fest in Karavaan, typically held in February or March. There are various other events held including concerts and cultural and technical and scientific fests. The library is vast with a great availability of books and all classrooms are smart. There is an exceptional sports facility and gym and various clubs from Science based to film to art to entrepreneurship to literature and books.

Hostel Facilities

3

The hostel facilities are great with double sharing rooms of decent sizes and good furniture. There is a pantry and washrooms on each floor which are all quite clean. The mess is seperately housed in a different building. There are two caterers with average food and a Cafe Coffee Day is on campus that is subsided heavily

Admission

To get into IISER Pune, one needs to have atleast a 90% in the 12th board examinations in CBSE and then clear IAT examination with a good rank to get in. I chose IISER Pune above the other colleges that i applied to as I was interested in Pure sciences and biology and wanted to pursue that in the respected university .

Faculty

5

The faculty are great in teaching and help clear doubts. They offer internships and mentoring opportunities. The examination is semi continuous with quizzes, mid semester examinations and end semester semester, all with relative grading. They are also very flexible with the courses one chooses

Night Life

5

Gym amd library closes in the night while the sports complex is open till 12 am. Various public places and study rooms and labs are open over night for students. There is no in or out timing on the campus or in the hostel. There arre various hang out spots nearby from cafes and food places to malls and the area is quite safe at night.

Placement Experience:

Our college encourages diversification but due to the primary aim being research, most people go for a career in academia but placements are also provided in major companies but the percentage of students going for this choice is low.

Course Curriculum Overview:

The curriculum is great in doing what it is meant to, and as a structural BSMS course. It gives you more information then a classical Bsc course and prepares you entirely for a PhD is the topic of your choosing. What got me here is the freedom of choosing, you can choose whatever courses you want, regardless of what major you want, and best of all, you dont need to qualify for a major to graduate. Hence there is a complete freedom of choice over what cources you like and what you want to pursue later in your academic carrier. There are a few nooks where teaching methods could be better but that translates from professor to professor and is not a complete view of the college itself. Exams occur every two months, and there are many quizzes in between, this leaves no time to rest for students who are jumping from one quiz to another and are instantly faced with exams. The difficulty level is again decided by the course coordinator and is mostly okay for all.

Placement Experience:

Students are eligible for sitting for summer internship programmes of iiser pune. Not many software companies visit this college for placements as most of the students of this college sit for higher studies for their PhDs or publish research articles. However a student who wishes to get a job in corporate can get an online course of computer science done and apply for off campus placements as the IISER PUNE tag value along with good skills are more than enough for you to get a high paying job.

Course Curriculum Overview:

Course contents are good but could be too lengthy for some as the semester is only of 4 months which is not sufficient for such large course contents. The grading is relative which gives fairness to everyone.

The courses which are offered are very up to date and give and actual conceptual understanding of the topics the courses are such that it is relevant to the real world applicantions and program our mind in thinking in a research and analytical perspective. I think the current course curriculum is enough and really good no need to improve further. Frequency of exams are 2 months Midsems and endsems and quizzes in Between then.

Placement Experience:

The campus is one of the factors why the IITs are hyped this much. The placements are good with the average placements clocking somewhere around 23.5 LPA. Students become eligible for placements from the third year, where they can complete an internship, and if they get a PPO, they are good to go. Companies like JANE STREET, BANE AND COMPANY, NVIDIA, and FANG visit the campus for placements, providing offers as high as four crores per annum. The 4 cr was offered by JANE STREET for HIGH-FREQUENCY TRADING. The percentage of students graduating is close to 80% , the remaining are students going for higher studies or preping for some government exams, there is rarely an unemployed graduating student.

Placement opportunities at IIT Bombay are very good. But getting a high paying job depends on an individual - how skilled and qualified they become after 4 years. If you lay focus on academics and build your personality with all the resources and networks you have IIT Bombay, you'll definitely land at a very good place in your life. There are also startups and business opportunities. Entrepreneurship is encouraged by the departments.

Placement Experience:

As there was placement in the year 2021 which is nearly 56 percent. Around 20 companies visited campus like TCS, AKASH, CIPLA etc. for placement. But most of student do not like placement becuase they have their plan about research so they do phd and post doc in their career which they think best according to their opinion. But in 2021 the avg. package was 8 lpa and each participant have 2 offer. Also the highest package is 13 lpa, which is very nice as compare. but the main reson is research that's why placement is not so higher.
