JGLS LLB (Hons.) FAQs

Q1. I am a non-law graduate. Can I apply for the 3-year LLB (Hons.) at JGLS? What is the minimum eligibility?

A1. Yes, graduates from any discipline (arts, science, commerce, engineering, etc.) can apply for the 3-year LL.B. (Hons.) at JGLS. The minimum eligibility is a Bachelor's degree in any subject with at least 45% aggregate marks from a recognized university. There is no age restriction.

Q2. Is the LNAT-UK test the same for the 3-year LLB as for the 5-year integrated programmes?

A2. Yes, the LNAT-UK test is the same for both the 3-year LL.B. (Hons.) and the 5-year integrated programmes (B.A./B.B.A./B.Com. LL.B.). It is a 95-minute computer-based test with 42 MCQs across 12 passages. You can only sit it once per cycle, and results cannot be carried forward to the next year.

Q3. What is the double-degree (LLB + JD) option at JGLS? How does it work?

A3. JGLS has MoUs with Seattle University, Indiana University Bloomington (Maurer School of Law), and University of Arizona (James E. Rogers College of Law) for double-degree programmes. Students can earn both an LL.B. (Hons.) from JGLS and a J.D. from the partner American university in about 4 years (saving up to 2 years compared to pursuing them sequentially). Students continue to pay tuition at JGLS and bear travel and living costs abroad. Partner universities have historically offered generous scholarships to JGLS students.

Q4. How does the internship programme work at JGLS for LLB students?

A4. JGLS requires students to complete at least one 4-week internship during each term break (summer and winter). The Office of Career Services (OCS) assists students in securing internships at law firms, in-house legal departments, NGOs, UN bodies, statutory bodies, and judicial clerkships at High Courts and the Supreme Court. International internships at firms like White & Case (Abu Dhabi, Singapore, London) and Allen & Overy (London) are also available for top students.

Q5. Can I pursue an LLM at JGLS after completing the 3-year LLB (Hons.)?

A5. Yes, JGLS offers a 1-year LLM programme with multiple specializations including Corporate and Financial Law, Intellectual Property Rights, International Trade and Investment Law, Taxation Law, Alternative Dispute Resolution, and more. LLM admissions at JGLS are through JSAT Law/CLAT PG/CUET scores, not LNAT-UK. Credits earned during the exchange semester at partner universities may also count towards the LLM degree.

Q6. What is the difference between the 3-year LLB (Hons.) and the 5-year BA/BBA/BCom LLB (Hons.) at JGLS?

A6. The 3-year LL.B. (Hons.) is for graduates who already hold a Bachelor's degree in any discipline and want to pursue law as a second degree. The 5-year integrated programmes (B.A./B.B.A./B.Com. LL.B.) are for students entering directly after Class 12. Both programmes have the same tuition fee structure (Rs. 7,00,000 per annum) and use LNAT-UK for admission. The 3-year programme is more intensive and research-focused, while the 5-year programmes offer a broader interdisciplinary foundation.
