Behind The Seams: Life at NIFT Jodhpur.

The atmosphere inside NIFT is very open and accepting in many fields that are considered a "taboo" in our society, like sexuality, gender identity and other aspects of Individuality, which I think is absolutely Amazing!
NIFT makes a conscious effort to always promote traditional handicrafts, handlooms, artisans and fashion sustainability, which I think is wonderful!
I also really like how the Institute establishes grounds for a secure professional life for you. Almost all my seniors are doing extremely well for themselves, career wise, and so I think NIFT really does set you up for your professional life.

Dislikes

I'm not sure if this is campus specific or not, but regardless. Creativity is encouraged but also limited to the understanding of the judge. It's almost impossible to go beyond the limit set by them.
Since majority of the examinations are practical and not theoretical, scoring is difficult. The answers are subjective, so it all depends on how well you can defend your presentation and how well the panel understands you.
Again, since the scoring is done on subjective presentations, scoring depends on your ability to defend your work and also, how well you get along with your faculty.

Admission:

So, in my case, my parents initially wanted me to pursue a more academic course, but i was set on pursuing Fashion Communication. So, they finally settled on letting me pursue my course only if I did it in NIFT. NIFT, being the best Design College in the country, and having a plethore of successful alumni was the obvious choice. So, yeah, I had my mind set on NIFT, and that's what I worked for. I didn't apply to any other colleges or other courses, but in case, things didn't work out, I had thought of pursuing English Honours in DU, because that's what my parents wanted. But I didn't need to give the entrance for it, since i got my results almost a month before the entrance. Now, getting into the college was difficult, given the high competition, so I spent almost 6 months preparing for that. I took coaching to prepare for it, and even spent the rest of my time for the same. The Entrance Exam is didvided in 3 parts: General Aptitude Test (GAT), Creative Ability Test(CAT), and Situation Test. GAT is about the basics, English, Maths, GK and Logical Reasoning. It's not that difficult, considering you need to be up to date with the Current Affairs, basic Logical Reasoning and 10th grade Mathematic skills and have at least an average command over the English language. CAT judges the student's overall creativity and innovation, their ability to be unique and think out of the box and present their ideas just as neatly and precisely. Along with the students creativity and innovation, their drawing skills are also judged, since they must be capable of presenting their ideas just as precisely. If one passes through these 2 exams, they are eligible for the Situation Test, where we must make a 3D model of the given situations, like a village fair or doctor's office etc. Along with all these criterias, they also judge how well can one explain their idea, and their ability to communicate with the judges.

All about NIFT

Likes

The hostels are situated within the campus which benefits the students as they can connect with the other students.
The mess and the canteen provide us good and tasty food. The labs and classrooms are top-notch.

Dislikes

The campus happens to be 25 kilometers from the Jodhpur city so the campus to city travel is that of 40 - 45 minutes.

Admission:

A person studying in grade 12 can apply for NIFT bachelor's course upto the age of 21. The first step of the admission process is to fill the admission form that can be found on the official NIFT website and pay the admission fee. Once the student clears that, they are further invited to appear for the situation test. the student has to pay the first semester fee.

NIFT jodhpur's GOODs and BADs

Likes

The college campus is really neat and clean.
A lot of social activities are done which are really good for the personal growth of the students.
The curriculum is wholly practical based which gives the best knowledge.

Dislikes

If you get selected by one company in placements you are not allowed to sit for another brand.
There are a lot of assignments which helps but also feels hectic for the students.
There is no air conditioners, common room and microwave in boys hostels yet. They are provided with coolers instead.

There is an entrance exam for NIFT which is held in 3 rounds which are: a) CAT(creative ability test)- 3 hrs b) GAT(general ability test)- 3 hrs c) Situation test (3D modeling with some given situation) After this the campus is allotted on merit rank basis. I got NIFT jodhpur campus in general category with AIR 1441 There is reservation quota as well.

Good choice for my carrier

Likes

Friendly and understanding faculty who guides good
Course teaches many rhings related opening our own brand
Very big campus allows to do any thing in campus

Dislikes

Temperature and heat of jodhpur is very bad
Students and their behavior is not at all friendly
Collage campus is far away from the main city

Admission:

Eligibility, of course, is maths and science students of class 12th. After passing the Nifts entrance test. We can find all details related to the admission form, admission fees, admission dates, and admission test details form nift.ac.in Many scholarships were provided to less-income families. And many more reservations are also provided. The admission process is easy admission test is also easy so any student can easily get admission to nift which is decreasing the good quality of students at nift which may create problems for students as well as college so the test should be tougher and skills-based so the more creative students can come to nift and expand their creativity

I liked the faculty, infrastructure, subjects, way of teaching, amazing canteen and auditorium

Dislikes

There scholarship system was really bad they don't even inform that the firm's are online
There students were nerd they are really selfish specially Nikita

Admission:

The admission is purely based on the entrance exam and it includes the CAT(creative ability test) and GAT(general ability test).They selected me through this exam and called for the admission counselling process to select the course.
