NIFT Patna offers UG and PG courses in various fields of Fashion Technology. Among them, B.Des is its popular program. NIFT Patna is a public institute and was established in 2008. It offers admission to two undergraduate programs, namely Bachelor of Design (B.Des) and Bachelor of Fashion Technology (B.F.Tech), and to Master of Fashion Management (MFM), at the postgraduate level.

NIFT Patna Admission to both UG and PG programs will be on the basis of the NIFT Entrance Exam (NIFTEE) conducted by the institute. Candidates seeking admission to NIFT Patna have to first appear for the NIFT Entrance Exam which consists of a General Ability Test (GAT) for all the UG and PG Programs, along with an additional Creative Ability Test (CAT) for B.Des. Shortlisted candidates then have to appear for a Situation Test or a Personal Interview, depending on the program.

Candidates seeking admission to the B.Des program at NIFT Patna must have passed the 10+2 level in any stream from a recognized school. For admission to MFM, the candidates must have an undergraduate degree from a recognized institute or university. The seat allotment to NIFT Patna will be done through NIFT Counselling based on the Common Merit Rank (CMR) of the NIFT Entrance Exam. NIFT Patna Application Process

Admission to both the UG and PG programs at NIFT Patna is based on the NIFT Entrance Exam, followed by a Situation Test or a Personal Interview, depending on the course. To apply for NIFT Patna Admission, candidates have to first register and apply online for the NIFT Entrance Exam on the official website of NTA @exams.nta.ac.in/NIFT.

After the announcement of the final results for admission by NIFT, the eligible candidates with a Common Merit Rank (CMR) need to register for NIFT Counselling conducted for all the NIFT campuses across India. Candidates have to register for NIFT Counselling on the official website of NIFT Admissions @nift.ac.in/admission. NIFT will release the seat allotment result on its official website after each round. Candidates who will be allocated a seat will have to accept and confirm the seat after paying the admission fee.

According to Meghna Manaswini, says that the campus has proper infrastructure, clean and air-conditioned classrooms, and dynamic cultural activities. But the faculty does not respond to her and the methods of teaching do not impress her. The quality of the food served in the canteens is low and there is not much space in the campuses. Though facilities of the hostel are good, there is lack of medical assistance. The curriculum is well built yet loosely taught and internship has little learning. In general, she gives NIFT Patna a rank of 3.4/5 due to both positive and negative experience in academics and campus.

Ques. How can I apply for NIFT Patna Admission 2026?

Ans. The registration of candidates can be done through online exams.nta.ac.in/NIFT.

Production applicant applications typically be be open in November 2025 and reach January 2026. Once the registration has been completed, the candidates will be required to complete the application form, post the documents, and make the necessary payment. The NIFT Admit card 2026 is only downloadable by those who manage to do this successfully in February.

Ques. What is the selection process for NIFT Patna UG and PG admissions?

Ans. The NIFT Patna admission is decided by a NIFT Entrance Exam (NIFTEE) which has a General Ability Test (GAD) in all courses and is optional with B.Des (Creative Ability Test) exam. Situation Test (B.Des) or Personal Interview is then introduced to shortlisted students. The NIFT produces the final list depending upon the Common Merit Rank (CMR) of the candidate at the NIFT Counselling process.

For MFM, a bachelor's degree from a recognized university is required. All applicants must qualify for the NIFT Entrance Exam to be considered for admission.

Ques. What is the expected cutoff for NIFT Patna Admission 2026?

Ans. The NIFT Patna cutoff 2026 will be announced following the NIFTEE port. The B.Des closing ranks however are 8476 in Fashion Design and 8601 in Fashion Communication based on past years. In the case of B.F.Tech (Apparel Production) closing rank was around 3005 and in the case of MFM, it was close to 941 in 2025. There are cutoffs every year depending on the difficulty of the examination and the availability of the seats.

Ques. How is the NIFT Patna counselling process conducted?

Ans. After the declaration of NIFTEE results, shortlisted candidates must register for NIFT Counselling at nift.ac.in/admission. Seat allocation is done based on Common Merit Rank (CMR) and candidate preferences. Those allotted a seat need to accept the offer online and pay the admission fee to confirm their seat. Spot rounds may be conducted in August 2026 for vacant seats across programs.

Other collages like NID which is considered very prestigious and India's number one design college, is very unique and different from nift which is only a fasion based coursive college, it has frequent fashion shows and events which only focus on Fasion related stuff, the course which the course which I took which is fashion communication promises to teach us animation and various other subjects like photography and videography film making and various other digital stuff but as I came across the course and teachings I got to know that it is only based on fashion related stuff and when the student goes into industry exposure it is very difficult for the student to work in an environment which is not based on fashion related stuff so NIFT is very different from NID. I could not choose nid because it has comparatively difficult level exams and even and inter view level hence I had to choose this college nift patna.

The admission process which i have gone through was quite difficult.The application can be applied through online for the entrance exam.The first eligibility to satisfy is 10+2 score from the recognized board.Then i have appeared for the NIFT Entrance Exam and it has creative ability test as well as general ability test.I have got good score which helps me to attend the counselling for the selection of score based on my cut off in Entrance Exam.
