AISSMSCOE: Students' Opinion

AI-Generated Summary based on 30 Reviews

** Admission to AISSMS College of Engineering in Pune is primarily determined by MHCET scores and 12th-grade marks, with CAP rounds managed by the Maharashtra State Government. The college is affiliated with Savitribai Phule Pune University and holds an A+ NAAC accreditation. It offers a Mechanical Engineering course, allowing for direct second-year entry for diploma holders with at least 86% in the open category. The faculty is highly qualified, mostly with PhDs, and provides excellent academic and personal guidance, with a mentor-to-student ratio of 1:20.

Class sizes range from 40 to 65, and the learning environment includes facilities like projectors. For open category students, the fee is about Rs. 1.2 lakh, reduced to approximately Rs. 50,000 with the TFWS scholarship for families with income under Rs. 6 lakh. Reserved categories enjoy lower fees and scholarships. Total annual expenses, including exam and other fees, are around Rs. 1.5 lakh.

Over 100 companies, mainly IT firms like Amazon and Infosys, participate in campus placements, with a placement rate of 60-80%. The highest salary offers range from Rs. 6 to Rs. 24 lakh annually, and the average is Rs. 2 to Rs. 5 lakh. The college offers internship opportunities, especially for mechanical sandwich courses, with stipends from Rs. 0 to Rs. 10,000 monthly. The Central Training and Placement Cell supports student placements with mock GDs and PIs.

Scholarships are available, including the EBC and Chhatrapati Shahu Maharaj EBC Yojana, which offer significant fee refunds based on income criteria. Reserved category students benefit from government scholarships, with fees varying; for instance, SC/ST students pay as low as Rs. 4,550 annually. Although the college does not offer direct loans, it partners with banks like Bank of Baroda for student loans.

AISSMSCOE BE Mechanical FAQs

Ques. What is the difference between BE Mechanical Engineering (Regular) and BE Mechanical Engineering (Sandwich) at AISSMSCOE? Which should I choose?

Ans. Both programmes are 4-year full-time courses affiliated to SPPU. The key difference is that the Sandwich pattern includes two semesters of mandatory industrial in-plant training at reputed companies like TATA Motors, Thermax, SKF, JCB, John Deere, Volkswagen, Bosch, and Forbes Marshall. This gives Sandwich students a significant edge in industry exposure and employability. The regular BE Mechanical Engineering follows the standard academic curriculum without mandatory industrial training semesters. If you are keen on early industry exposure and hands-on manufacturing experience, the Sandwich pattern is highly recommended. Both have the same intake of 60 seats and the same FRA-approved fee structure.

Ques. What is the actual fee I need to pay per year for BE Mechanical Engineering at AISSMSCOE under the CAP/merit quota?

Ans. Under the CAP/merit quota, the FRA-approved fee for AY 2025-26 is Rs. 1,41,739/- (Tuition Fee) + Rs. 21,261/- (Development Fee) = Rs. 1,63,000/- per year. A one-time Caution Money Deposit of Rs. 1,000/- is also payable at the time of admission. The total programme cost over 4 years comes to approximately Rs. 6,53,000/-. Management quota seats carry an additional one-time Management Seat Fee of Rs. 4,89,000/-. Fees for AY 2026-27 are subject to revision by the FRA.

Ques. What software tools and labs are available for Mechanical Engineering students at AISSMSCOE?

Ans. The Mechanical Engineering department at AISSMSCOE is equipped with high-end software tools including MSc ADAMS (multi-body dynamics), ANSYS (FEA/CFD), MATLAB, Altair HYPERWORKS, AutoCAD, and PRO-E, covering all major areas of mechanical engineering analysis and design. The department also has state-of-the-art equipment such as a four-wheel chassis dynamometer and FFT analyzer. Labs are set up as per SPPU syllabus requirements and are regularly upgraded. Students also get exposure to industry-standard tools through competitions like BAJA SAE and SUPRA SAE.

Ques. What are the placement prospects for BE Mechanical Engineering graduates from AISSMSCOE?

Ans. AISSMSCOE has a dedicated Training & Placement Cell that facilitates campus placements. Mechanical Engineering graduates are recruited by companies in the automotive, manufacturing, FMCG, and core engineering sectors. Given Pune's status as a major automotive and manufacturing hub, students have access to companies like TATA Motors, Thermax, Cummins, Bajaj Auto, Mahindra, and various Tier-1 automotive suppliers. The college reports an overall placement rate of around 53% (as per FRA data). Students who actively participate in SAE competitions and industrial training (especially Sandwich pattern students) tend to have better placement outcomes.

Ques. Can I switch from BE Mechanical Engineering (Regular) to Sandwich pattern after admission?

Ans. No, the Regular and Sandwich patterns are separate programmes with separate CAP codes and seat allotments. You must choose your preferred programme at the time of filling the CAP Option Form. Switching between the two after admission is generally not permitted as they have different academic structures and industrial training requirements. It is important to research both options carefully before filling your CAP preferences.

Ques. What documents are required at the time of reporting to AISSMSCOE after CAP seat allotment for BE Mechanical Engineering?

Ans. After receiving a seat allotment through CAP, you must report to AISSMSCOE with the following documents (two sets of photocopies + originals): Receipt/Acknowledgement from the e-Scrutiny Centre, JEE Main/MHT CET Score Card, HSC (12th) Mark Sheet and Passing Certificate, SSC (10th) Mark Sheet, School/College Leaving Certificate, Nationality Certificate, Domicile Certificate or Birth Certificate, Aadhaar Card, and category-specific documents such as Caste Certificate, Caste Validity Certificate, Non-Creamy Layer Certificate, and GAP Certificate (if applicable). You must also fill the online admission form on the college ERP portal (admission.aissms.org) and pay fees online before physically reporting to the college.
