SIMSRC: Students' Opinion

AI-Generated Summary based on 12 Reviews

The admission process for this medical college has become more complex with the introduction of the NEET exam, primarily based on NEET ranks as allocated by the Karnataka Examination Authority. The college hosts around 100 experienced professors, mainly aged between 35-50, from prestigious institutions like AIIMS and JIPMER. Despite a challenging student-teacher ratio, personalized teaching is ensured by dividing clinical classes into smaller groups. Fees have become clear but expensive, with government seat fees around Rs 1,20,403, private seat fees approximately Rs 8.5 lakh, and management quota fees exceeding Rs 90 lakh.

Hostel fees are about Rs 60,000 per year, while mess fees range from Rs 2,500 to Rs 3,000 monthly. A 12-month internship follows 4.5 years of the MBBS program, providing hands-on experience with a stipend, reportedly 5,000 INR per month. Approximately 95% of graduates secure jobs in private or government sectors, with placements available from the 8th semester, offering salaries between 2 to 10 lakhs per month. The college supports students in applying for government scholarships, with Karnataka domicile students benefiting from reduced fees and special stipends.

Scholarships are available through the National Scholarship Portal, ePass, and Vidyasiri, with bank loans accessible at lower interest rates. Hostel costs for double and triple sharing rooms, including mess, are INR 1,40,000 and INR 1,25,000 respectively, and transport fees are INR 55,000 per year. SSP scholarships offer about INR 56,000 per year for eligible students.
