Additionally, the institution recognizes the importance of supporting students financially and offers various avenues for scholarships, financial assistance, and campus employment opportunities.
Faculties are highly experienced with great knowledge and some of them have good teaching and mentorship style.
The classes are also very nice, the library is beautiful, well organized and peaceful.

Dislikes

We get information about scholarships, they are not interested in giving scholarships to poor students like us.
I disliked the lack of facilities in college sports, or music room facilities gym and all and mess is also not good
There is one almirah and one table and one bed provided in the hostel but the mess is really not good which was a problem in every college.

LIFE AT NIT DURGAPUR - PROS AND CONS

Likes

the ambience the environment and surrounding here is very beautiful
the different club activities all round the year are very engaging
the education culture including the professors are very nice

Dislikes

the transport system is not favorable and is difficult to travel

Placement Experience:

the students are provided with good internships from 2nd year onwards and the placement cell of the college is working very efficiently to bring the best companies to the campus.the placement per year is upto 85% with some of the best companies recruiting here. the avg package is 9 lpa and the highest offered package is of 70 lpa

Likes

the faculty is highly experienced and well qualified and many of them are holding advanced degrees they are engaging mentorship is very strong
the placement facilities are very strong with companies like google amazon and microsoft the career development is very proactive resume building workshops`
the campus is equipped with modren facilities

Dislikes

the girls and boys ratio will be around 1:5
the campus is equipped with old infrastructure hostles and classrooms should be modrenized
the academics can be sometimes overwhelming

Placement Experience:

placements at nit durgapur are very strong eligibility begins after the 6th semester. in some cases cgpa should be higher regarding the company companies. that visit are amazon ,oracle ,adobe ,tcs ,seimens .highest package is between 50 to 70 lpa and average package is between 10 to 15 lpa .plans after degee are higher studies.

NIT Durgapur........

Likes

The course and the faculty of our department were excellent.
The college had quite few canteens and lot of wonderful places we could enjoy .
The facilities provided in girls the hostel were wonderful.

Dislikes

The placement for our batch was not upto the mark compared to other batches of our college.

Placement Experience:

Placements were usually very good of like almost around 90-95% of the department would get placed but due to recession during our batch the placement of our department has fallen to 70%.Microsoft usually visits us for both full time and internship along with PPO but this year the full time hiring was frozen so they could only provide PPOs .

Beautiful chapter of everyone's life - college life

Likes

The class timings because we don't have any hectic schedule, and also sufficient time is given to complete assignments.
College fests we have enjoyed and stalls during the fest the food was good
Library facilities and newspaper, magazines , story books also available

Dislikes

Some faculty are very strict and very serious
The buildings in college are far from eachother. We have to Walk a lot
Placements are little less during our course

Placement Experience:

Placements were quite good in Nit Durgapur. But due to recession in 2024 we got less placements. The highest package is 50lpa in Microsoft. And the average package is 7lpa or sometimes 10lpa. The statistics of placements vary every year. We get companies like microsoft, amazon, Texas Instruments, hero, Amadocs and also PSU 's like Beml, BPCL, Hcl, etc.

Infrastructure and campus of our college
Well organised with proper management and regular fests
Course curriculum is upto the mark. Regular fests.

Dislikes

Food is not upto the mark...............
Hostels are not good............four people have to accomodate in 1 single room.
Fees for the college is very high ........

Placement Experience:

From 3 rd semester students become eligible for campus placements.Micr osoft,Texas,Jp morgan , infosys, tcs ninja visit our campus for campus placements...Overall average package of our college is 11 lpa.

Here smoking and drinking culture is very high

From 3rd semester the students are eligible for placement and internship opportunities. Numerous companies have visited here like microsoft windows qualcomm adobe etc.the highest package was around 70lpa and average was around 12lpa.

NIT Durgapur- a quick overview

Likes

Faculties are very well-efficient and very productive. Especially talking about Mechanical Engineering branch, There are maximum number of professors and all of them are of international standards. So it is very easy learning in this college.
The college events, both internal and all-India, gives the students a good exposure to the current scenario and gives opportunity to enhance our quality and learning abilities.
The campus is quite large and peaceful. Additionally NIT Durgapur gives a very good Placement opportunity to each and every student, thereby proving itself a premium institute.

Dislikes

The gender ratio of the college is a bit poor. Girls to boys ratio is approximately 1:7.

Course Curriculum Overview:

Curriculum is extremely scientific. For instance, I am a student of Mechanical Engineering. NIT Durgapur offers us a very relevant course outline to the students. They offer us all the applications of Mechanical Engineering so that we can really become a bunch of good Engineers. Though I think some professors might take assistance of digital teaching methods so that it can be more productive. But overall courses are quite reasonable.

Faculty teaching is good. We can understand better if we pay attention. They are friendly too
Quality of infrastructure of some new buildings are good. We can click many photos also good.
Fests are conducted. We will enjoy well in those programs

Dislikes

Some old buildings need to be improved. No air it is suffocated in some classrooms
All the building are near so it's like campus is small than others .
Celebrities are not worth in the fests. And stalls also should increase to eat and drink

Placement Experience:

Imp4th year students eligible for campus interview and 6th sem students aslo. Who has good cgpa. Bajaj , amazon, reliance, flipkart, samsung other companies also visited. For mechanical engineering the placement percentage last year is 76%. Average is 9lakhs for core job. After degree iam planning to get a job in campus interview itself

Here is a detailed review shared by my brother who completed his graduation from NIT Durgapur

Infrastructure: Honestly, the infrastructure isn’t all that great but will provide all the basic amenities necessary for a good academic environment.
Faculty: Most students have to resort to self-study because the professors are not very passionate about teaching. However, if you do good projects under a professor, you may be able to pursue a master's in a foreign university.
Placements: NIT Durgapur has recorded excellent placements. This year the highest CTC offered was INR 70 LPA while the average salary offered was INR 13.64 LPA. The top recruiters included TCS Ninja, PwC, ICICI Bank, Microsoft, and many others. More than 100 recruiters participated in the placement drive and 633 students were placed.
Opportunities: The NIT tag will open a number of opportunities for you and the alumni network is also quite extensive. You can also avail opportunities like workshops and clubs.
Campus life: The campus life is very active with many fun-filled events like the freshers' farewell party and celebration of regional festivals. Additionally, a number of cultural and technical fests are also held.
Administration : The administration is very slow and is not cooperative. You might face some issues.
Location : NIT Durgapur faces no major connectivity issues. The railway station is 30 mins or 14 km away while the nearest airport is at Andal, which isn't well connected, so Kolkata Airport will be a better option. You can find the Auto rickshaw stand just at the main gate.
