Additionally, the institution recognizes the importance of supporting students financially and offers various avenues for scholarships, financial assistance, and campus employment opportunities.
Faculties are highly experienced with great knowledge and some of them have good teaching and mentorship style.
The classes are also very nice, the library is beautiful, well organized and peaceful.

Dislikes

We get information about scholarships, they are not interested in giving scholarships to poor students like us.
I disliked the lack of facilities in college sports, or music room facilities gym and all and mess is also not good
There is one almirah and one table and one bed provided in the hostel but the mess is really not good which was a problem in every college.

Glimpse of NIT durgapur

It is one of the oldest NIT of India have large alumni network and global tie up here people are interactive
In campus there is nothing attractive but cultural are good in our college they organise many activities and programs so social interaction is good among students
Faculty are experienced and good they have high knowledge in their

Campus facilities are very poor there is no good cafes and canteens

From 7 semester students can participate in campus placement here multinational companies like microsoft, nvidia, samsung,jp morgon,Wells Fargo many companies recruit students highest package is 58 lakh per annum offers by DE shaw and total percentage placement is 78

The quality of education provided by the faculties are quite appreciable. There are various clubs and societies for recreation through which one can be social and develop oneself all over.
The infrastructure is good, also college provides good placement and internship opportunities, just the students need to be enough hardworking and worthy.
Mess food quality is better than other colleges, every meal contains adequate amounts of required nutrients.

Dislikes

The size of campus is not too big to explore around.
Hostel quality must be improved a bit and buildings must also be renewed.
The college must provide more funds to the students in technical aspects.

Placement Experience:

Placements are great. Even the latest curriculum of this college will be very halpful to clear gate and to get PSUs And Curriculum is not too hectic so yiu will get free time. So you can develop new skills as well for the placements

NIT Durgapur:-A wholesome Insight in the college life and it's different aspects

Likes

The different clubs which are there in the campus are great.
The overall infrastructure is at par with modern day colleges
The hostel Life has a lot to offer and thus one of the most loved part specially for me

Dislikes

Some faculties have very high level of knowledge but their inability to deliver it in classroom is a matter of concern
Sometimes there are some logistical issue which are faced.
Mess food is good but can be made even better and the non availability of 24×7 library is also a major setback for the students

Placement Experience:

For campus placements student become eligible from the 7th semester onwards and for internships student get eligible from 5th semester onwards. Wide no of companies visited our campus around 180+ and made around 580+ offers to the students. The highest salary was 58LPA which was offered by DE Shaw and the highest accepted salary was 51LPA in Microsoft.The average package rolls roughly around 10-12 LPA.The profile offered include SDE roles, management roles,finance in some cases.The overall placement percentage was around 80% with Branches like electrical and metallurgy moving above 90% followed by CSE and ECE in the mid 80s while for biotech and civil the placement percentage are generally below 70.My plans after getting the degree is to land a job offer from on campus placements.Therefafter maybe look out for and MBA from top B schools of india.

Nit Dgp from my view.

Likes

Decent placements with great companies hiring for both jobs and internships with high packages
Decent falculties with great qualification and experience
Good infrastructure and campus size with good greenery all over and good location.

Dislikes

Girls vs boys ratio is very low-1:5 ratio
Strict attendance policy -75 percent attendance criteria
Extra classes from some faculties which are not at all feels engaging and seems like torture to the students.

Course Curriculum Overview:

The course curriculum is same as the other colleges in India and mostly the 10 or 15 years old syllabus is still being taught by most of the faculties in all branches .Though they have introduced new Data base management courses along with ai and ml in our syllabus for placements in this new technical era.

the faculty is highly supportive with many professor holding phds and encouraging research projects as well as practical learning
the placement cell is very active and reputed companies like google microsoft apple Amazon tata steel deloitte visit the campus
the infrastructure is well developed with mordern labs central library hostels medical facilites anad sports activites

Dislikes

some hostels buildings old and need better maintaience especially in terms of washroom .the mess food is average and can be improved
the campus is located bit far from metro cities so exposure to industries is slightly limited campared to nits closer to large hubs
the girls to boys ratio is 1 : 7 in btech courses

The college is very disciplined and has strong restrictions specially for the first year students. Professors are also very good
The campus is 187 acres and has football ground , basketball ground , cricket ground , volleyball court and much more sports facilities .
The college offers decent placements and internships for all branches .

From 7th semester students become eligible for campus placements . Our college offers on campus placements and maximum students get placed in top companies on campus . Companies like Apple , Microsoft , Tata Steel , Reliance , BPCL , Qualcomm and much more companies and a total of 500+ offers were made. 82% students were placed on campus this year with highest package 80lpa and average 12.61lpa .

My Honest Review Of NIT DURGAPUR

Hostel Rooms and Hostel facilities , mess food , Campus environment are really good .
Classrooms have full AC , thats also a good thing .
Extra cocurriculur actives are also good specially inter NIT tournament

Dislikes

Regional Differences between students and discrimination . that something management should look at strictly
Very hectic class schedules. professor dont follow official schedule only take extra classes
Professors Are very unsupportive, they satisfy their ego first .

Placement Experience:

Placement of my college is pretty good as its an nit .. avg cse ctc is 21 lpa avg ece ctc is 18 lpa avg ee ctc is 15 lpa most of the students like 82percent get placed in campus placements only .. recently in 2025 overall average pakage is 12.61 lpa and highest is 80 lpa

The infrastructure of the college is good.I would consider the college as very clean.
The campus life is pretty good but there are strict instructions to freshers to not roam in the campus.

Dislikes

I disliked the condition of the bathroom and the corridor on the first day.
My hostel room was very filthy.The workers charges ₹100 for cleaning it

From 4th year students become eligible for placements.Google, Microsoft,Gold Man Sacks, Apple were some of the companies that visited NIT Durgapur For placement regard.The highest package was 80lpa and the average package was 13 lpa.Total of 83% students got placed.The placement is quite good.

I like the infra of college and director of this college is very chill

Here is a detailed review shared by my brother who completed his graduation from NIT Durgapur

Infrastructure: Honestly, the infrastructure isn’t all that great but will provide all the basic amenities necessary for a good academic environment.
Faculty: Most students have to resort to self-study because the professors are not very passionate about teaching. However, if you do good projects under a professor, you may be able to pursue a master's in a foreign university.
Placements: NIT Durgapur has recorded excellent placements. This year the highest CTC offered was INR 70 LPA while the average salary offered was INR 13.64 LPA. The top recruiters included TCS Ninja, PwC, ICICI Bank, Microsoft, and many others. More than 100 recruiters participated in the placement drive and 633 students were placed.
Opportunities: The NIT tag will open a number of opportunities for you and the alumni network is also quite extensive. You can also avail opportunities like workshops and clubs.
Campus life: The campus life is very active with many fun-filled events like the freshers' farewell party and celebration of regional festivals. Additionally, a number of cultural and technical fests are also held.
Administration : The administration is very slow and is not cooperative. You might face some issues.
Location : NIT Durgapur faces no major connectivity issues. The railway station is 30 mins or 14 km away while the nearest airport is at Andal, which isn't well connected, so Kolkata Airport will be a better option. You can find the Auto rickshaw stand just at the main gate.
