mess, laundry, the training keeping in mind the profession we have ahead, opportunities to shine through your hobbies
the impeccable views from hostel, the environmental beauty of the campus
the bond we make with seniors and the batchmates, the helpful nature of everyone around us

Dislikes

training is very hard in first year, there are too many rules that should be adhered to
lack of sleep to cadets, lack of healthcare facilities,
too many formalities to be carried out before performing some basic things like going out of the campus

Placement Experience:

placements can happen in any semester starting from 2nd semester, it completely depends on the companies which come to the campus for cadets. 95% of the cadets get placed at the end of their course. teh packages vary from 300000 to 1200000 per year. note that this is the stipend you get while training, once this training is finished and you have al the certifications and are medically fit for sailing you get ti earn 10 times more only after 2 years.

Nothing much but have got some friends you fall into this pit exactl like me

Dislikes

Hostel , mess food and mess hall , no facilities for marine practical

Teaching methods of marine faculties are excellent but in my course they add some additional subject like tamil and hindi which are useless and no neede for a mariner as the marine faculties are good in teaching and explaining but they also having difficulty in teaching as the requirements didn't meet from the college management

Journey of a Cadet in Himt Merchant navy

Likes

Teachings and faculty is well educated and expert in their subjects. All the captains help in interviews exams and to get sponsorship
The Campus has newly built hostels and sports infrastructure The campus is also well maintained. With latest equipment like VR , main mast, ship in campus
All the cadets in the institution gets to apply for many major companies and the placement rate is impressive

Dislikes

The food is not up to the mark . North indian student may have some difficulty at the start but all over they are trying to improve and has improved from last sem
Phoned are not allowed in academic hours which is both good and a bad thing
The boy and girls ratio is very uneven but it happen in all the maritime college

Placement Experience:

My course student comes for training after getting placed but for course like bsc and btech u can get start the interviews after second year Many company visit the campus like v ship , synergy , dynacom, imac, maersk , wallem and many more Till the end of the course almost every cadet gets placed and those who dont gets collenge support after the course After getting tge degree u can start joining ship from the company you are placed

Pros and cons of IMU Chennai

Likes

Our college has a good faculty for subjects like general ship knowledge and celestial navigation to be honest the best in any college .
Our college has two campus one for btech and one for bsc and dns the btech campus has a big infrastructure with tennis court and all
Our college has house tournaments and has 3 fests in one year

Dislikes

The mess food in not good it actually is bad sometimes they give rotten eggs too
The hostels are very old and not maintained .We cannot even put a lock on our almirah
The faculty for sports is too lazy to teach us something

Girls in every imu campus gets placement even if they are not too good in studies so girls have no issues in placements.Talkiny about boys the placement scenario earlier was very good but after Covid the placement percentage dropped drastically but from last year this year the placements are getting better .The college is getting back to the placement percentage it had before .Im a second year student and 3 boys got into chevron which is a top class merchant Navy company,5 girls are placed in BW and rest are appearing for stenna interview.In 4th sem boys can apply for synergy exam and if they qualify they will surely crack the interview as imu chennai cadets get preference in synergy .In 5th sem many companies like torm and thome took 17 cadets .Rest in next sem many more companies are yet to come .In short in IMU Chennai if you are pass on all the subjects you'll surely get placement

coimbatore marine college- a short review

Likes

teaching is good in our college and it provides every knowledge required for our basics
faculties are good in their field of profession and very friendly type
there is no ragging inside our collge which is good

Dislikes

there are no proper bridge equipments and necessery items for practical works
sometimes they provide very avg food i our mess
for the fees which we paid we are not getting quality items from our college and they also not spending on any college infrastructure improvements

Placement Experience:

yes there are placements in our college for girls they provide placement from MAERSK comapany in 1 semester itself for other cadets they provide in their last semester of their course MAERSK MOL NYK ANGLO EASTERN SYNERGY EASTWAY are some of the main comapnies come for placements in our college percentage of students getting placed in every batch is less than 25%

Reality of marine field

Likes

Cmc infrastructure will be very nice it's look like a ship. The staffs and reception people everyone will be very friendly. There will be parade it is good. The library in the college is very useful to study about the sea. The hostel will be ok.
The sports will be encouraged in our college there will be more events and sports day will be there. in final year there will be a ship visit if ship is not there there will be atleast port visit.
The wardens are very friendly there is laundry.

Dislikes

The hostel food willl be not that much but it's ok now compared to before. THERE is laundry but manw clothes are getting missed. There is only four hours outing on Sunday that is not possible to go far because the college is located outer of the city
The fees if there's is late in fees payment the there will be fine per day that is the biggest negative.

Course Curriculum Overview:

This course is one of the toughest course same time if there's interest in this course it is the easiest course. There will be practical done to prepare you for the sea. The exams will be tough and it will be held on a room with cctv do don't think of malpractice. Till now there is no need for improvement in this course the student should understand this course and prepare him for this course. The students coming for this course by getting influenced by social media or adventure for them this course will not be suitable. It is only for who is really interested or marine background students. Its a good course.

Life at CMC

Likes

Training is somewhat okay compared to other marine colleges
They are strict in their activities on their discipline
Staffs are friendly and good in their field of profession

Dislikes

Food what they provide is not good it os avg
The products they give is not upto the mark for what we pay
There is no proper swimming pool facilities and equipments

The decision to choose this course is largely influenced by my earlier carrier passion which led me to choose this course It offers me a theoretical and practical knowledge about ships and sea It is the developing field in world trade Exams for our course are quite difficult but if we study properly we can clear it

Bsc Nautical science in tolani

Likes

Faculties are so helping and interactive with students.
Library of the college is very good, prvides a peaceful environment
There are nore than 40 clubs for extra curriculum

Dislikes

Morning pt are very hectic, they are are not even schedule.
Senior are very strict, rules of hostel are also very strict.
Doesnt like the dress code, we have to change it for different occasion.

Course Curriculum Overview:

There were no specific reasons I choosed this course but as i got a decent rank in their college based exam. Taking about curriculum i have joined the mma club which helped me alot to improve my physical fitness.

TMI the best choice for Mariners

Likes

Infrastructure and campus is really good
Faculties are really good and Frank. They help us a lot.
All the facilities and opportunities are appropriate.

Dislikes

Our curriculum and all the rules are very strict.
Morning pet and evening exercises are compulsory.
Lot's of syllabus to cover and we get very less time to study.

Placement Experience:

From 1st year only the companies start arriving and we start getting placements and many shipping companies like chevron ,stenna ,bp ,seapeak and many other come here for taking ns and me students who are eligible.

The teachers in Tolani Maritime Institute are very helpful and most of the faculty here are experienced Captains and Cheif Enginners
