- training is very hard in first year, there are too many rules that should be adhered to
- lack of sleep to cadets, lack of healthcare facilities,
- too many formalities to be carried out before performing some basic things like going out of the campus
Course Curriculum Overview
the curriculum prepares us for real time navigation in the sea and the cadets are ready to join the world of merchant navy after finishing the course learning many skills like navigation, firefighting, carpentary, working with electrical equipments, personal survival, which are necessary to survive in the world of seafaring
Internships Opportunities
all cadets are first frequired to do a 12 month cadetship to learn the intricacies of workinng on a ship. The stipend varies from 500000 to 1200000 dependinng onn the company. all compannies provide cadetship (internship) program.
Placement Experience
placements can happen in any semester starting from 2nd semester, it completely depends on the companies which come to the campus for cadets. 95% of the cadets get placed at the end of their course. teh packages vary from 300000 to 1200000 per year. note that this is the stipend you get while training, once this training is finished and you have al the certifications and are medically fit for sailing you get ti earn 10 times more only after 2 years.
Fees and Financial Aid
Yearly fees is 8,75,000. this includes everything, food, hostel, laundary services. Caution deposit is 30000 one time payable at the time of admission. registration fees is 10000 which is payable at the time of admission for the confirm the seat in the college. a scholarship worth 100000 is given to girls.
Campus Life
infrastructure is good but thre are many fields to be improved on. There are many future projects which are being built in our campus, there are many opportunites in co-curricular activities such as dance, drama, sinnginng, instrument playing, poetry, sports. boxing is taught by seniors, gymnasium is provided and manyopportunities to represent the campus if you are good enough.
Hostel Facilities
there are 2 fans provided, table chairs to study, beds, mattresses, personal lockers, racks, lighting, balcony. electricians are available at all times to fix any electrical equipment in your room. the mess has a good menu but you will be bored after sometime if u are vegetarian, there are variety of dishes provided and fruits and desserts. but as a human tendnecy to get bored after sometime as the meals are repeated every week.
Admission
i chose this colleges over others because of the comparatively cheap overall fees, good placement, the opportunity to shine myself through various co curricular activities held in the campus and the incredible 100 year history this campus has
Faculty
there are faculties mastered in the profession, retired indian navy officers, experienced and knowledgable captains, who ahve dedicated their life to sailing and now teaching cadets the art of navigation. there are a number of exams, viva, internal tests, external tests and end sem exam.
Night Life
there is no nightlife, no one is allowed outside the hostel after 09:30 pm. strict discipline is being adhered to and nights are only for sleep as we have to have a busy day. everything is to be done in the day and evening with permissions, there are many places to hangout and the city is very safe, many places to eat and chill
