Excellent placements: bits pilani has a strong industry network and consistently records high placement percentages, with many students securing job offers before graduation.
The faculty at bits are superb and also pretty chill at the same time.
Merit cum need scholarship is given to the best students who are poor but good in studies.

Dislikes

Grading is difficult , papers are also difficult
It has very bad bathing water, causes skin and hair issues
I hate the fact that there are lot of stray animals even in our hostels

Placement are very good in my college and as I told ROI is there , so average package is 15 LPA, and highest package was 2CR and it was an international offer. From 7th semester students are eligible to sit for the placement

The startup culture at the campus: BITS is well known for the startups that it has produced over the years and the startup culture present at the campus plays an important role in building and helping young budding entrepreneurs.
Student Faculty interaction : The professors at the campus are quite interactive and they engage with the students and they are easily approachable . Students can easily go and ask professors to work on project under them.
Open culture : BITS has quite an open culture , there is no restrictions on hostel entry and exit time , students are quite interactive with each other . There are also many activities continously happening on the campus which engage the students.

Dislikes

Girls to boys ratio : the ratio of girls to boys in the pilani campus is approx 1 is to 7 , this number clearly shows that the number of boys and girls on the campus is not balanced
Location of Pilani campus: The BITS pilani (pilani campus ) is situated in a small town of rajasthan near the haryana border therefore there is not much to do outside the campus

Placement Experience:

For the summer internships the student become eleigible to sit in the recruitment process for the summer internship from 5th semester onwards while for placements the students sit in the interviews from 7th semester onwards. Many big companies visit the campus like Google , Microsoft , Nvidia , BCG , McKinsey , JP morgan , Goldman Sachs, Tower research , imc trading etc. Highest package can be close to 1 Cr while average package is 25 lakhs Around 85% students get placed

Likes

The legacy and the brand value of Bits Pilani.
Flexibility in the course like having 0 attendance policy.
More focus on explaining concepts to students rather than just remembering things (we have many open book exams)

Dislikes

College fees is too high and it increases per semester.
Hostel facilities are not up to the mark considering the money that the students are paying for it.

Placement Experience:

My plans after completing my undergraduation is going for masters abroad, but the campus offers good placements. Many MNCs visit the campus during placement season and the avg package is around 20 lakhs.

Life at BITS Pilani: Academics, Life and more

Likes

Large and well maintained campus spread over 328 acres.
Excellent sports facilities ranging from outdoor sports: football, cricket, tennis, basketball, skating as well as indoor sports: badminton, table tennis, chess,etc.
Institute's policy of conducting Practice School helps in providing real hands on industry experience for all students which is insightful and gives and edge when appearing for placements.

Dislikes

Fees is a bit on the higher side. The institute is private and not government funded which explains the high fees.
The course curriculum is a bit outdated and has been the same for the past 10-15 years.
Girls to boys ratio is around 1:10 since the institute is merit based and has no reservations.

Placement Experience:

For Mechanical branch most of the students were placed(>85%) and average was around 18 LPA. Companies like HUL, JSW appear for core mechanical roles. Highest package offered in the core segment was of 36 LPA in Livguard. No mass recruiters appear for the placements as students dont feel it's a good ROI to apply in those companies.

Honest BITS Pilani (Pilani Campus) Review

Likes

Academic Flexibility: dual-degree program, GPA-based branch changes, option to pursue electives from various disciplines.
Faculty and teaching quality: The faculty here is well-qualified with PhDs and research experience.
Peer Group: The peer group is smart, diverse and driven. The student-led clubs and departments form the backbone of the campus life.

Dislikes

Girls to boys ratio: The gender ratio is skewed, roughly around 1:4 or 1:5.
Pilani Location: The remote location is bit of a downside. It's far from major cities which can be inconvenient for travel or industry exposure. However, it creates a tight-knit community and lesser distractions.
Mess Food: It's manageable, but nothing to write home about. Most students prefer food from campus canteens and eateries.

Placement Experience:

Placements at BITS Pilani are excellent, especially for branches like CS and EEE. Students become elegible for placements from the 7th semester and most sit for interviews during Practice School (PS-2) semester. Topo companies like Google, Microsoft, Amazon, Atlassian, Qualcomm, Gldman Sachs, BCG, Bain, and DE Shaw visit the campus.

BITS Pilani - It's magic

Alumni culture of BITS is arguably the best . It has it's alumni all across the globe with alums in all top tier companies which helps a lot
Ps - 1 and Ps - 2 are two internship opportunities which the college itself provides which is a great opportunity for every bitsian
Fests is bits are all student driven with oasis being the major attraction. The fests are highlighted with high profile prof shows

Dislikes

Very high fees is the only thing to dislike. Most of the students find it hard to pay.

Placement Experience:

Students become eligible for placements in their 4th year in case of a single degree or in their 5th year if he is a dualite. Although summer interns get hired in their 3rd year itself which is a great opportunity to get a high pre placement offer . Around 350 companies visit the campus every year and many offers are made ig around 800 . Highest package previous year for what I have heard was 4.2 cr to a 2 time icpc finalist student which was crazy . Avg package varies around 17 to 20 lakhs. Almost 85 to 90 percent students get placed and the remaining either go for masters or continue the internships in respective companies

The freedom of your own time because of the 0% attendance policy
The amazing fests here at BITS Pilani, ATMOS, PEARL AND Arena ( technical, cultural and sports fests respectively)
Our Auditorium, that can host over 5000 students in one seating, is one of the biggest in ASIA and has an amazing vibe to it

Dislikes

Didn't like the mess food, felt that it's quality sometimes is bad and it gets monotonous after some time
the teachers and faculty. Some of them are not very supportive of students pursuing other interests apart from studies
a few hostels at bits hyderabad smell very very badly because there is a dumpyard nearby which causes foul smells at night

Placement Experience:

After your 3rd year you become eligible for campus placements almost everyone here at bits gets an offer from 1 company, the most notable ones being oracle, amazon , google , nvidia etc etc. Highest package is 1CR+ average is 19 lakhs CTC almost 90% of students get placed I want to pursue entrepreneurship after this degree.

Best hostels,Pilani" campus is considered the best campus of BITS Pilani, as it is the oldest and most established, with a larger alumni base and a reputation for high academic standards and strong placements; making it the flagship campus of the ins
The food is healthy, and tries to provide all kinds of varsity of dishes
Best placements, almost 100% placements till date. It has one of the highest average package

Dislikes

Away from city, less places to travel nearby
No proper south food, its a little bit disappointment for south people
The travelling to this place Is very costly and very strenuous job

Placement Experience:

Placements are the best in my college. They are continuously bringing a large amount of companies in every engineering branch and providing a guarantee job to almost everyone. It's maintained the literal 100% placements policy

BITS PILANI : A PORT FOR SUCESS

One of the best things in BITS Pilani is ZERO percent attendance policy which means your class attendance does not make a difference in exam marks , so student can also focus on co-curricular activities.
There is no ragging in the campus, best thing a engineering college can have.
The professors are well educated and well informed also they are very friendly in lecture( some exception like Challa in CSE dept.)

Dislikes

The placement unit do not release the exact data of placements ongoing.
Pilani is town , so there is no big city life you can enjoy like in Delhi or Mumbai.

Placement Experience:

In BITS placements begin in the final year , with candidates being available from their 7th semester. Topper firms include Google, Microsoft, Amazon, Goldman Sachs,TATA etc. The highest package is 80LPA with average package of 20 to 25 LPA in rupees. Over 90% students are placed with rolesin software development, AI/ML, finance and consulting.

Likes

Safety of the students in the campus is best as there are guards at each interval
Sports facilities like badminton, tennis, cricket, football and other sports are phenomenal
Faculties are top notch with experience in their repsective fields

Dislikes

Classes are a bit further than hostels, so in morning class it might be a issue (prefer purchasing a cycle)
Rooms are not equipped with AC's so in summer it may be uncomfortable
Girls to boys ratio is average in comparision to other engineering institutes

Placement Experience:

From 7th semester onwards (single degree students) students are elegible for placement. There are no companies that have visited but haven't given any placement. Avaerage package is around 35 lakhs 97% students are placed who applies for placement and all are placed in their desired companies

BITS WILP is a two-year postgraduate level course, in which 15 specializations are offered by the university. It is a degree course that is completed mainly on weekends to enable students and professionals to gain a full-time degree course while continuing their professional pursuits.

Pros

You get associated with the BITS tag
You can do your PG alongside working
The course is rather easy and with the right dedication you can complete it in 2 yrs.
The syllabus is the same for both on and off-campus students

Cons

You won’t be able to sit for PG campus recruitment
Not many companies consider this degree valuable and thus makes it is difficult to land a job.
The admission criteria are rather flexible thus the peer pool is not very filtered.
Most of the subjects are from bachelors and lack relevance and rigor
There is no visible difference in the knowledge base of the students.
The classes are not conducted by the original BITS faculty.

In all, I think the cons overshadow the pros and don’t deem this course a very wise decision.

Is BITS Pilani "Pilani campus" better than IIT Roorkee or IIT Guwahati?

In my opinion, both BITS Pilani and IIT Roorkee are in the same league while IIT Guwahati is a bit inferior to them. Let’s discuss further on the basis of some very common aspects

Core subjects: BITS Pilani does not focus on core subjects and the research culture is also very inactive. This is because of the extremely laid-back curriculum and attendance policy. The research opportunities offered are very less in comparison to IITs
Placements: In this aspect, BITS Pilani definitely fairs better with its flagship Practice School program. Students of this program receive many PPOs from top companies during internships arranged by the college itself.
Campus life: IMHO BITS offers the best campus life owing to the student-driven culture and great academic flexibility.
Performance: The institutes can be evaluated on the basis of the performance of their students in various entrance exams. IIT Roorkee students score the best in GATE, UPSC, etc. while BITS Pilani scores well in CAT, GMAT, and GRE.
Peer groups: The average student quality of both the institutes is somewhat similar with IIT Roorkee giving a slight edge to BITS Pilani in this aspect.

Both the colleges have their own strengths and weaknesses and comparing them is illogical. I would say that if you are genuinely interested in CSE, then Pilani will be better for you than Roorkee. But if you aren’t certain of your area of interest then choose IIT Roorkee for its IIT tag.
