- Alumni culture of BITS is arguably the best . It has it's alumni all across the globe with alums in all top tier companies which helps a lot
- Ps - 1 and Ps - 2 are two internship opportunities which the college itself provides which is a great opportunity for every bitsian
- Fests is bits are all student driven with oasis being the major attraction. The fests are highlighted with high profile prof shows
Dislikes
- Very high fees is the only thing to dislike. Most of the students find it hard to pay.
Course Curriculum Overview
Electrical and electronics can be a pretty tough branch to handle in general , The toughest branch on campus probably . The exams are very frequent and difficult too . The curriculum is exhaustive. The classes are must to attend to attempt the evaluatives. Teaching methods are pretty boring as one would expect in the colleges . Lab components are exhaustive .
Internships Opportunities
There are 2 internships provided by the college - PS 1 in the 2nd yr which is unpaid. The internships provided are both online and offline with almost all companies providing the internships namely jio , amazon etc. The second one is PS - 2 which is the paid one with almost all the companies providing the internships such as jpmc , apple , google etc.
Placement Experience
Students become eligible for placements in their 4th year in case of a single degree or in their 5th year if he is a dualite. Although summer interns get hired in their 3rd year itself which is a great opportunity to get a high pre placement offer . Around 350 companies visit the campus every year and many offers are made ig around 800 . Highest package previous year for what I have heard was 4.2 cr to a 2 time icpc finalist student which was crazy . Avg package varies around 17 to 20 lakhs. Almost 85 to 90 percent students get placed and the remaining either go for masters or continue the internships in respective companies
Fees and Financial Aid
We pay a tuition fees of around 5 lakhs . Other than that a hostel fees of around 80k a yr including electricity dues and mess fees of around 60k a yr . Registration fees and admission fees are one time amounts. There are 2 scholarship schemes offered on campus - Merit scholarship ( scholarship slabs based on cgpa - pretty hard to get on campus ) and the other one Merit cum need ( which is offered to students with income less than 13 lpa and cgpa greater than 6) .
Campus Life
Annual cultural fest is oasis which happens around oct and nov each year while the sports fest is bosm held around mid Jan and the technical fest apogee in april start . Library is fully accessible and you can find almost all the books there. When it comes to sports and extracurriculars one can find almost everything on the campus including a full fledged cricket ground , 4 basketball courts , 4 badminton courts , multiple table tennis tables , a squash court and a football court as well . A decent gym with most of the required equipments is also is in the campus itself
Hostel Facilities
Rooms are basic with a chair table provided and a wardrobe provided with sufficient space. Mess meals is pretty decent with all 3 meals provided for the day. The hygiene is maintained properly. The meals get repeated often so it gets a bit boring but still manageable to say the least.
Admission
Bitsat is the eligibility exam for admission in BITS across all four campuses ( one in Dubai ). There are 5 to 6 iterations and the cutoff varies in all the iterations every year. I also got a call from iit roorkee but ultimately decided to join bits bcoz of the branch I got here (EEE) , a very decent branch in pilani campus.
Faculty
Faculty in bits is preety decent with almost all profs with solid research background and ongoing research works. Vinay kumar chamola is the prof with the most no of publications. The faculty to student ratio is also pretty decent. The evaluatives are spread across the semester and can be pretty tough to handle for some.
Night Life
Night life is bits is one to live for. There are 5 to 6 eateries in the campus which are open till 2 am in the night. There is no hostel in time which is liberating. Campus in time is 9 pm which is good enough as there is nothing to do outside the campus. The locality is pretty safe to roam around. Knot and rotunda are the famous hangout places in the campus with the former famous for all the stuff you need inside the campus if you know what I mean
