- The startup culture at the campus: BITS is well known for the startups that it has produced over the years and the startup culture present at the campus plays an important role in building and helping young budding entrepreneurs.
- Student Faculty interaction : The professors at the campus are quite interactive and they engage with the students and they are easily approachable . Students can easily go and ask professors to work on project under them.
- Open culture : BITS has quite an open culture , there is no restrictions on hostel entry and exit time , students are quite interactive with each other . There are also many activities continously happening on the campus which engage the students.
Dislikes
- Girls to boys ratio : the ratio of girls to boys in the pilani campus is approx 1 is to 7 , this number clearly shows that the number of boys and girls on the campus is not balanced
- Location of Pilani campus: The BITS pilani (pilani campus ) is situated in a small town of rajasthan near the haryana border therefore there is not much to do outside the campus
Course Curriculum Overview
The courses thart are planned are very relevant and are in sync with the current industry trends , there are constant efforrts made to make the course more industry relevant. quizes are generally taken once evey week or once in two weeks depending on the course and if preperation is done then scoring around 70% is quite easily possible
Internships Opportunities
There are many internship opportunities available on the campus like PS1 , PS2 , Summer internships All big companies come for internships like Google , Microsoft , Nvidia , BCG , Bain , McKinsey , Amazon etc.
Placement Experience
For the summer internships the student become eleigible to sit in the recruitment process for the summer internship from 5th semester onwards while for placements the students sit in the interviews from 7th semester onwards. Many big companies visit the campus like Google , Microsoft , Nvidia , BCG , McKinsey , JP morgan , Goldman Sachs, Tower research , imc trading etc. Highest package can be close to 1 Cr while average package is 25 lakhs Around 85% students get placed
Fees and Financial Aid
Tuition fees : 4,90,000 /yr Admission fees: 53,900 hostel fees: 80,000 mess fees: 20,000 caution fess: 3,000 student union fees: 450 total fees : approx 6 lakhs scholarships: there are both merit scholarship and merit cum need scholarship available , both have a cgp criterion and based on your cgp you get a particular percentage of scholarship. Merit cum need scholarship varies from 20% , 40% , 80% ,100%
Campus Life
There are 3 fests held in a Year which are Oasis ( Cultural Fest) in Oct-Nov Apogee ( Tech fest) in Apr-March BOSM ( sports fest) in Sept A wide variety of books are available in the library ranging from educational to fictional and non fictional , all the course books and self help books are also there The sports culture is quite good and a large amount of students are a part of some or the other sports team . The sports facilities are also at a great level. There are a large number of clubs and departments run by the students in almost every field you can imagine
Hostel Facilities
Hostel facilities are quite good , all the necessary facilities are available in the room , there is no AC in the room , AC is in the common room , The food quality at the mess is quite good . The hostels are alloted randomly.
Admission
I applied to DTU and was getting admission there and I also applied to other other IITs . For admission in BITS you have to give the BITSAT exam which happens twice every year , all the branch allocations and admission into the college are done on the basis of your marks that you score in the BITSAT exam
Faculty
In Lecture classes. the faculty to student ratipn is approx 1:100 In the tutorial classes the faculty to student ratio is approx 1:20 Faculty members are quite approachable There are mid semester exams and final comprehensive exams with quizez and lab test in between the semester Students generally clear the exams , the curriculum is relevant to the current industry trends
Night Life
The nigh life at BITS pilani is great , all the student run activities of clubs and department usually take place at night . There is no restriction on entry or exit time at the hostels. Food outlets are open till 2 a.m Gym and grounds are open till 12 a.m Its very safe to roam around any corner of the campus at any time
