Pune University- MA English Entrance exam details

Pune University conducts subject- specific entrance exams for all its postgraduate courses. Candidates applying to the MA in English course need to necessarily apply for the entrance exam in the English subject.

The entrance exam is of 120 minutes duration.

The examination has 2 sets that the candidate needs to attempt.

In Set 1, the questions are given based on general knowledge, aptitude, logic, and English comprehension.

In Set 2, the questions are from topics that include history of English, literary criticism, and theory.

Set 1 sums up to a score of 20 marks whereas Set 2 totals to a score of 80 marks. The whole examination adds up to 100 marks.

Pune University MA English Course Details

Pune University provides a Master of Arts (MA) program for students across 35 specializations. The MA program in English is one of the most popular courses opted by students.

The M.A English program consists of 4 semesters. Students have to take 4 courses per semester, for a period of 2 years minimum.
Each course involves at-most two internal examinations and one semester-end examination.
Students' performance is graded through marks and on a grade scale. The final result sheets and certificates will have an effect on both marks and grades of the student.
The students need to select an optional course of their choice in every semester.
2 core courses are taught in the first two semesters of the course. Later, in the last two semesters, only a single core course is provided along with optional courses.

M.A. Course in SPPU

Likes

The capacity of my batch is very less, that gives all the students to gain more individual attention from the teachers.
The teachers are friendly, interactive, and very helpful.

Dislikes

Some subjects are dry, so there’s a lot of theory which is a little difficult to gulp.

Course Curriculum Overview:

I wanted to learn to read more, and also understand the Indian as well as the English literature. There is one subject names Indian literature in English translation, so the curriculum has certain poetries and a novel for the 1st semester, and it's awesome. The novel is 'Samskara' by U.R. Ananth Murthy. The people who want to pursue writing or literature for that sense in the future, this course is perfect for them.

The fee structure is quite feasible. However, there are two sections : 'grant' and 'non-grant'. The fee structure varies in these scenarios as mostly non-grant section has a higher fee structure. Also, there are multiple courses provided at college encompassing both bachelor's and master's degree so again this aspect needs to be considered. Overall though, the fee structure can be referred to as feasible.
