Q1. Is NPAT required for admission to BA (Western Contemporary Music) at NMIMS SoPA?
Ans. No. Unlike most other NMIMS UG programs, admission to BA (Music - Western Contemporary Music) at SoPA is entirely through an audition process. Candidates must register online, upload a YouTube performance video, and appear for a virtual audition. NPAT scores are not considered.
Q2. What instruments can I specialize in for the BA Western Contemporary Music program at NMIMS SoPA?
Ans. Students can choose one of four instruments as their Major Practical: Vocals, Guitar, Piano, or Drums. The choice must be made at the time of registration and cannot be changed later (internal/stream transfers are not entertained).
Q3. What is the format of the audition for BA Western Contemporary Music at NMIMS SoPA?
Ans. The audition is conducted in virtual mode and consists of three components: Performance (50 marks - 80% weightage), Simple Improvisation (25 marks), and Aural test (25 marks). Additionally, a Personal Interview (50 marks - 20% weightage) assesses the candidate's aptitude. The merit list is based entirely on audition performance.

Q6. What is the minimum batch size for the program to commence, and what happens if it is not met?
Ans. The program requires a minimum of 10 students to commence. If fewer than 10 candidates take admission, the tuition fees of enrolled students will be refunded, and students may be offered admission to other programs based on seat availability. This is lower than the 20-student minimum required for most other NMIMS programs.
