Dislikes

Outskirts of the campus is not in a good environment.
There is not an airport in locality of dhanbad. the nearest being to durgapur, kolkata, ranchi, devghar

Placement Experience:

Internships are provided in the 5th semester and companies for placements come in the 7th semester onwards. Being an IIT the placements of this college is decent and improving every year. The average package of our college is about 17 lpa and the highest package offered is 64 lpa.

Likes

Great facilities and amenities provided, beautiful scenery,huge ground.
Large alumni base covered around the world.

Dislikes

Very dramatic climate, Summers here are very hot and humid, it rains kika cats and dogs in monsoon, and freezing winters. You will experience the extremes of all seasons here.
The dhanbad city is not very big. It has few malls and places to explore.the city is surrounded by dense forest cover.
Old hostels are very poor and small rooms.

Placement Experience:

From the third semister, the placements are open for btech students. CDC conducts placements. Many companies around 150+ visit IIT ISM for placements. Some of them are Amazon, Axel, Flipkart,jio, Goldman Sachs, Jaguar, Accenture, Oracle, sprinkle, De Shaw, arista, Atlassian, Texas Instruments, tata, Walmart, Bajaj, Axtria, Barclays, Morgan Stanley, cairn,über, etc.

IIT(ISM) through the lens of an IIT(ISM) student

Likes

The campus is really lush green and airy
ISM has a legacy of its own, one of the oldest college in India and about to complete its 100 years.
The culture here is really supportive where you will get to interact with a lot of people.

Dislikes

The administration here is a bit fucked up
There aren't much hangout spots for us in Dhanbad.
You will have to get used to the Bihari accent to understand the locals.

Placement Experience:

If you are coming to an IIT, then placements are something that you don't have to worry about provided you build your skills. All top-notch MnCs visit our campus, you name it. The highest domestic package this year was 56 lakhs and the average was 18 lakhs.

I like clubs in our college with out clubs and friends I could not survive in campus.
Culture in campus is unique as we have senior junior bonding very high

Dislikes

Very strict administration not student friendly.
Faculty could be better some are good but most lack some aspect

Placement Experience:

Placements are decent but not worth an IIT as we have talented people but no one to recruit us. If in case any company sees this review consider IIT Dhanbad for recruiting. companies like Google, Amazon, Oracle, Barclays, Atlassian come to hire

the cmapus life is so amazing , the greenery and many thinfgs.

Dislikes

reservation quota on the basis of caste from u can study here in negligible cost .

Course Curriculum Overview:

I choose to study at IIT ISM Dhanbad because of its strong reputation as an iit and ism in ECE. It may vary from department to department but in my branch, it is 1:70 . The faculty members are highly qualified, they all hold PHD degrees from prestigious institutes. it is very difficult.

Placement Experience:

Placement of our college in our department is very good and the average package of ECE is 24 lpa which is a decent amount. The highest package is 54 lpa in domestic. In ECE almost 90% of students are placed to opt for higher studies or civil services.

My college experience.

Likes

Central library the second largest library in the asia .
The greenery campus and the co curricular activities that goes on in the campus .The events ,the festivals are all celebrated here. Getting to kearn the different cultures.
The alumni network that builds and the connections you get is so strong that one will get good exploration.

Placement Experience:

Companies like Google, Microsoft, Deshaw, Samsung, Amazon, J P Morgan, Morgan Stanley, Bajaj, sprinkler, oracle, Zomato etc. The no of offers made was 1154 the highest package was around 56 lakhs and the average package was around 16.98 lakhs. The percentage of students getting placements is around 93 -95 %.

Likes

campus life is amazing and enjoyable its really very enjoying to roam around with your friends.
cultural events are very joyful and gives fun .
greenery of campus is very soothing and relaxing to mind.

Dislikes

non availability of airport in dhanbad creates problems
dhanbad is poor has no places for sight seeing.
non availability of pure veg restaurants

Course Curriculum Overview:

computer science is open to all companies and it is the best branch in all colleges. The faculties are quite good some of the subjects like dsa are very interesting while some subjects like co are quite difficult and boring. It's difficult to score cgpa greater than 9. One semester lasts for about 4 months which we find a little rushed up.

After 3rd year students are eligible for placements. Actually, most of the students have skills and good CGPAs and get placements easily. The placement rounds of the companies have some special opportunities for girls.

Which one is better, IIT Dhanbad for ECE or IIT Bhubaneswar for electrical?

IIT Dhanbad ranks 15th among the Engineering category by NIRF 2019. It is a much older establishment than IIT Bhubaneswar. The fee structure for BTech in ECE at IIT Dhanbad is 2,30,120 for one year. It Requires a JEE ranking of 3000-10000 for ECE. The ECE department of IIT Dhanbad has seen 60% placement of students with an average annual salary package of 15 lakhs per annum and highest being 39 lakhs per annum. IIT Dhanbad has a total of 332 faculty members who are highly qualified and experienced members. Out of total, 315 members are Ph.D. holders.

IIT Bhubaneswar ranks 17th in the Engineering category by NIRF 2019. It is one of the newer IITs. The students with JEE ranking between 2000-7000 are eligible for Electrical Engineering in IIT Bhubaneswar. IIT Bhubaneswar in 2019 has seen 89% placement in the Civil Engineering Department with an average annual salary package of 11 lakhs per annum, 39 lakhs per annum being the highest. IIT Bhubaneswar has a total of 145 faculty members who are highly qualified and Ph.D. holders. IIT Bhubaneswar has 2 hostels for boys and girls each. It also has Shopping Complex, Healthcare centers, gym, Sports grounds and courts, Common rooms, Media entertainment rooms, ATMs, etc.

Thus, IIT Dhanbad will be a better option to study ECE than Electrical Engineering from IIT Bhubaneswar because, Being one of the oldest established IITs, IIT Dhanbad is known for its quality of education and their campus life. It also has better and more experienced faculty members.
