Life at IIT(ISM) Dhanbad

Likes

Especially Culture at IIT(ISM) is auspicious that can'y be found elsewhere
The maintainance of clubs by students which are funded by campus
The resource we got here to study and learn anything, especially the environment

Dislikes

Many Students are addicted to drugs here which I didn't like
The infrastructure inside campus is somewhat low
The in-time for campus which restricts the students

Placement Experience:

1.Immediately after completion of 6th semester, students will be eligible for placements 2.Companies-Google,microsoft,Goldmansachs and many more 3.percentage of students getting placed-80% 4.My plan is to get a high paying job

Likes

Great campus life, good coding culture, Pretty good peer group
Extra Curricular activities are also supported in the campus
Overall development is seen in a student

Dislikes

A student must have a good peer group must not indulge in illicit practices.
The night canteens do not have good employees.
There are not many food outlets in the campus

Placement Experience:

The placements in the college are pretty decent. This year the highest package went 52 LPA. Pretty good companies like Microsoft , Accenture, Deloitte, Goldmann Sachs comes at the campus. Core companies like ONGC also visits the campus. Approx 70% students get placed. And off campus opportunities can also be bagged as the degree from the institute has a pretty good value in the market.

I was very mich interested in this course and I opted for it. faculty:student ratio changes based on the course All are well qualified and good at teaching yearly two sems and in every sem there is a mid term and end term

from 7 th semester we can apply for on campus placements Career development centre is there to take care of companies highest- 50lpa average - 20lpa nearly 50 % of the students get placements others will go for off campus or higher studies

IIT ISM Dhanbad college review

Likes

I liked the social life around the campus.
Library is the best. Open till 12pm which is best
Sports facilities are also good. You can have all the types of sports facilities

Dislikes

I disliked the location dhanbad which actually does not have enough connection via train and flight
Faculties are something I really hate. Sometimes i think to kidnap their kids but nvm
The exam part is worst. They should drop the idea of exams.

Course Curriculum Overview:

My course is integrated mtech in mathematics and computing. A good combination of computer science with mathematics such as linear algebra, number theory, probability and statistics, and a lot of subjects including industrial and applied maths.

Good Review IIT

Likes

The student run clubs are really good and inclusive
Placements are also quite good for a new IIT
Good competition and smart people are there

Dislikes

Infrastructure is sub par compared to older IITs
Little future prospects for fields apart from circuital or core Petroleum
Tough competition in higher branches for grades

Placement Experience:

Placements are good circuital branches and Petroleums branch which is niche to our college. Most student get into good companies and some go ahead with masters in other good IITs or forieign universities. Highway package reach around 60 LPA

Nice atmosphere in the college, the Trees and all gardens
The Clubs are really helpful in personal development so are the seniors who are always there to help
Some of the Professors are very helpful who really take interest if you are really learning

Dislikes

Regionalism is very much evident nowadays
Outside the campus the atmosphere is not so pleasant
Opportunities for boys are less compared to girls on campus

Placement Experience:

Students get eligible for the Placements in their Final Year. However many grap PPOs which gives them a upper hand. Google, Microsoft, Accenture, Media. Net, Qualcomm, Axxela, Future First, PhonePe, Flipkart, Zepto, Texas Instruments, ONGC, Tata Motors, Bajaj Auto, SLB etc. Around 80-90? get placed. Others go for MBA or higher education. I plan to do MBA.

After 7 semester candidate can apply for placement. So many companies are come for placement of students. Google, amazon,ongc , etc so many software companies are comes in our college. Highest package of our college is 5600000 In cse branch. 75% student are placed in so many companies. I want to become a software engineer.

Ragging is prevailed for some specific students from specific states
Food is very bad for south indians like me
No indoor theatre and no nearby restaurents

Placements have gone very well last year with avg salary 17.01 lpa and highest package was 56 lakh(ece) with more than89% students placed and 1154 jobs with 11 international offers . My plans after getting the degree are to go for a job thats it

Which one is better, IIT Dhanbad for ECE or IIT Bhubaneswar for electrical?

IIT Dhanbad ranks 15th among the Engineering category by NIRF 2019. It is a much older establishment than IIT Bhubaneswar. The fee structure for BTech in ECE at IIT Dhanbad is 2,30,120 for one year. It Requires a JEE ranking of 3000-10000 for ECE. The ECE department of IIT Dhanbad has seen 60% placement of students with an average annual salary package of 15 lakhs per annum and highest being 39 lakhs per annum. IIT Dhanbad has a total of 332 faculty members who are highly qualified and experienced members. Out of total, 315 members are Ph.D. holders.

IIT Bhubaneswar ranks 17th in the Engineering category by NIRF 2019. It is one of the newer IITs. The students with JEE ranking between 2000-7000 are eligible for Electrical Engineering in IIT Bhubaneswar. IIT Bhubaneswar in 2019 has seen 89% placement in the Civil Engineering Department with an average annual salary package of 11 lakhs per annum, 39 lakhs per annum being the highest. Thus, IIT Dhanbad will be a better option to study ECE than Electrical Engineering from IIT Bhubaneswar because, Being one of the oldest established IITs, IIT Dhanbad is known for its quality of education and their campus life. It also has better and more experienced faculty members.
