Which is the better option; doing computer engineering at SVNIT-Surat, Gujarat or b.tech in ict at DA-IICT Gandhinagar, Gujarat?

I am a resident of Surat, and SVNIT is very close to my house. During my college admissions, I was in the same dilemma. So I spent about a week at both the colleges to make a more informed choice. One of the professors at SVNIT suggested that I opt for B.Tech ICT at DAIICT over Computer Engineering at SVNIT. He told me that DAIICT is a better option for computer related branches. Here are some pros of joining DAIICT as a B.Tech ICT student- The placements at DAIICT are comparatively better. Though the NITs have an established brand name, the reputation of DAIICT is better than SVNIT in top companies like Amazon, Morgan Stanley, MAQ, etc. It has a greater number of GSoC qualifiers, and a better environment for Open Source Coding. The environment is superior for competitive coding as well, and students participate in great numbers in online programming contests on platforms like codeforces, etc. A large number of students prepare for exams like GRE, CAT, etc. Thus, a B.Tech ICT at DAIICT is better in comparison to Computer Engineering at SVNIT.

According to my friends at DAIICT, it is definitely a better choice among the two. Considering factors like placement, brand reputation, and coding culture. The points below give a brief overview of some of the advantages of choosing DAIICT over SVNIT. According to some professors of SVNIT itself, DAIICT is a better institute for CSE and IT, compared to SVNIT. The overall placement statistics of DAIICT are far better than that in SVNIT, with more high-paying jobs offered in the institute. DAIICT doesn’t have as good a reputation as NITs in India. But, in companies like Amazon, MAQ, Morgan Stanley, etc, DAIICT has a far better reputation than SVNIT. There is an excellent open-source coding environment in DAIICT. The number of GSoC entries from both institutes makes it evident that DAIICT has much more success in open-source contribution. Course curriculum is not updated and hence feels like it's not good enough for placement.

Fees and Financial Aid:

The price is increasing every year. Overall 260000 yearly is fees for 2027 batch Overall 320000 yearly is fees for 2028 batch. (Excluding food) For students having good pointers scholarship is there. For students with low family income, there are reliance scholarship and other government schemes which can be taken.

In the start of my college tution fees was 90k now it's 1.5 laks for 1 semister fees are same for every categories and hostel fees are paid differently from tution fees it's is same and has not increased since my addmission it's 25k

The fee structure at DAIICT is as follows : (Per semester 6-months) 1) Academic fees - DAIICT has a total of Academic fees (B.tech ICT) of Rs.106500 per semester. It is extremely difficult to get/maintain 8+ GPA as faculties are really strict while submitting grades.
Curriculum is very strict. The courses taught by the professors sometimes are too advanced and complex to understand.

Our grading policy is quite strict. Very difficult to maintain good cgpa

Total 1 semester fees including hostel + tution fees - 113500 (Food is not included) Yearly - 227000/- (in rupees) We have canteen facilities so students will have to pay and eat... Avg cost of food monthly is 6000/-

At my college the fee structure is divided into tution fees and hostel fees tution fee is 300000 and hostel fees is 54000 as genral candidate i have to pay all fees there are no reservations for ews and obc category students there are reservation for sc and st category student but they have to pay same fees as genral category there are merit cum scholarship which give 100% scholarship to top 10 student

DAIICT College review for thos interested

Some courses which are in core are booring

So the per semester fees is approx 1.25 lakhs (25000 + 75000) where hostel and academic included. The btech students have a mandetory hostel stay. There are few scholarship like mysy you get and regarding placements and internship many teir 1 and 2 companys come here like google, Microsoft, goldschs, etc.

Cost to study is quite reasonable and affordable. Their are several scholarship options for students especially if you are from Gujarat though very limited options for NRI students. You also get some financial assistance from this institute.
