The Social Work department at Guru Ghasidas Vishwavidyalaya (GGU) offers a well-structured academic program with a balanced faculty-to-student ratio, comprising 6 professors and 8-10 PhD scholars. The faculty is well-qualified and culturally diverse, enhancing the overall learning environment. Students benefit from continuous mentorship and participate in both national and international seminars. The curriculum includes internal exams worth 15 marks, a written exam worth 70 marks, and assignments worth 15 marks.

Each semester, students select around 7 subjects and engage in fieldwork. Robust internship opportunities start from the first semester, with a compulsory one-month internship during the summer vacation. The BSW program, under the New Education Policy, spans 8 semesters with a total course fee of 31,100 INR, including a semester fee of 3,450 INR and caution money of approximately 3,500 INR. The BA course fees range from 16,000 to 20,000 INR.

Scholarships are available for ST, SC, and OBC students through state government initiatives, while general category students can access national merit-based scholarships. Students from Jammu and Kashmir under the PMSSS Quota receive 50,000 INR per semester, and those in university sports programs receive stipends and equipment.
