- It offers a great placement after the course completion, companies like microsoft, amazon google, flipkart and other companies like goldman sachs come to recruit new freshers in their companies and even offer internships as well.
- The fests conducted in our college are worth enjoying and marvelous talent is encouraged.
- No fees hike policy.cost to study is a bit high for a government organisation but it's worth it.scholarship opportunities financial assistance and job opportunities are very satisfactory over here.
Dislikes
- The scholarship availability should not be below 5 lakh.. it should be a larger number beacuse 5 lakh income is lower income than a lower middle class family.
- The faculty advisor is a very rude and strict person who doesn't understand the student's problems.
- Placements for lower branches are not that good and being a remote area more companies are not coming to college

Remarks:
It's amazing but boring at the same time. What makes it fun are the clubs, sports facilities, hostel life and the friends we make. Studies are always boring, but we get through them. Being away from home is a bit hard, but we manage anyway.

Remarks:
Our College does not do changes of faculty often. Professors are superior here. Management hardly takes any action against them. As it is a government organization no one can suspend them if they intentionally ruin any student's career and the student fails to prove it.

Remarks:
This is a government college so there isn't much to expect in terms of living conditions and hostels. Food here is average but takes into account the preferences of both south Indians and north Indians.

Remarks:
All positives. The college has lush green gardens and trees all around. The environment is peaceful and serene. The place is lovely with access to all facilities like restaurants, saloons, stationary shops, etc. But the only disadvantage is that it is far from the railway station and bus stand thus cost a lot for transportation. Besides that everything else is fine. And yes, BTech students get a lot of holidays.

Remarks:
There are a lot of positive and negative remarks for the institute bit I would say that the main problem is the rigidness of authorities. Also there are some factors that divide the students such as zonism.

Admission:
For admission we have to prepare for the exam which is known as JEE.for that I took 1 year coaching and after clearing the exams I took admission under jossa which will give you your college under your all India rank.

Remarks:
The college is really good. The huge campus full of greenery is a sight to behold. It's very clean and peaceful. Availability of resources, good transportation and communication facilities are there. Courese from undergraduation till post graduation are on offer. Experienced and skilled professors are also there. Apart from that placements are good. Substance abuse is a major drawback.

in my view it is neither a very good Institute nor a bad Institute. good faculties are very rare..timing are such that it is almost impossible to keep on with timing ...also the scorching summer and chilling winter add a new cause to dislike the place the temperature difference from summer to winter is about 37 degree celsius year is full of fests .very good environment & peaceful place..If u r looking for a good college then you should opt for other nits or drop one year and go to IITs. one thing at last it doesn't matter where you are studying if you have knowledge you will definitely succeed..

Entrance Preview:
At my Time(2012), It was AIEEE (All India Engineering Entrance Examination) which was Mandatory Entrance exam to qualify, to apply for B.Tech in NITs. I scored 196/360. and my AIR was 16.619. I always wanted to do my B.Tech in one of the best branches(in my perspective) and only applied for those branches in different NITs. NIT Rourkela was the 5th option (after NIT Warangal, Surathkal, Allahabad, and Tiruchy).

A friend at NIT Rourkela gave me a detailed review of her college the last time she visited me. Here are some highlights from her descriptive experience
- NIT Rourkela has a huge, serene, and well-secured campus.
- The institute has diverse clubs that promote extracurricular activities and their performance is better than most clubs of other engineering colleges.
- Decent Internet speed is offered and the Dc++ is well maintained.
- The hostels are well-maintained and decked with all the basic amenities one could ask for.
- Students are actively involved in sports such as gymming and swimming.
- The faculties are a mixed bag. Some are underqualified and lethargic while some motivate you to become a better person.
- The institute boasts of an extensive entrepreneurship culture.
- The institute needs to work on increasing its alumni base and the level of fests it organizes given the huge income the institute generates.
- The placement scenario varies from branch to branch. It's decent for branches like CS while pathetic for others.
- Rourkela does not have any places to explore and also lacks flight connectivity.
- The city of Rourkela is one of the cleanest places so hygiene is not an issue here.
