It offers a great placement after the course completion, companies like microsoft, amazon google, flipkart and other companies like goldman sachs come to recruit new freshers in their companies and even offer internships as well.
The fests conducted in our college are worth enjoying and marvelous talent is encouraged.
No fees hike policy.cost to study is a bit high for a government organisation but it's worth it.scholarship opportunities financial assistance and job opportunities are very satisfactory over here.

Dislikes

The scholarship availability should not be below 5 lakh.. it should be a larger number beacuse 5 lakh income is lower income than a lower middle class family.
The faculty advisor is a very rude and strict person who doesn't understand the student's problems.
Placements for lower branches are not that good and being a remote area more companies are not coming to college

A Deep Dive Into NIT Rourkela

The college I got was not my dream college but after exploring the campus and taking classes it felt fascinating I liked each and every thing about the campus and faculties behaviour not a single professor is having any kind of attitude.
Here the involvment of students in studies is very high and mentorship quality is very good senior students are assigned as the mentors for the 1st year students.
Currently I guess in NIT rourkela the girls to boys ratio is 30:70 not sure about it. Personal and professional development of student happens when they went to college after intracting with people from different places and parts of the country.

Course Curriculum Overview:

Course curriculum in B.Tech is little bit tough but as much as you get involved in studies you will see that every thing for you becomes easier. It helps and provide exposure to so many real world problems . 2 exams are there in the whole semester 4 in a year 2 mid sems and 2 end sems. end sem gets little bit tougher as compared to mid sems.

Dreams Of Many :- NIT Rourkela

Likes

I like the environment of the hostel and college
I like to facilities provided here for living such as Internet and many more
The teachers are very much cooperative and interesting.

Dislikes

The hostel food is okay okay type not so much celebrated
The semester exam is not 6 months approximately it last for 4-5 months
Not much guidance about career development and personal experiences

Placement Experience:

It's quite simple you have to study the courses offered by the college and in your own you have to develop your skill to compete with others in order to get good placement opportunities. My plans after getting a degree is to join where I get placed and prepare for the civil services exam.

Nit Rourkela: Efforts doesn't go in vain

Likes

the lust green vast campus of 1200 acres provides a lot to explore.
The societies and clubs provides a lot of exposure to students to take their skills to the next level.
Nearly 4 fests are organised in each year, which provides a lot of relaxation to the students from the academic curriculum.

Dislikes

The mess food is not up to the level and unhygenic .
The entire fee structure is vey high which seems unaffordable for a lower middle class student.
The college also sticks towards the 75% attendance criteria.

Placement Experience:

Basically from sixth semester we are eligible for the campus placements and ths approximate number of companies visited would be more than three hundred and the job offers would be nearly thirteen thousand. The average package was nearly thirteen lakhs and the highest package that was recorded was one crore and twenty lakhs. The placement percent is more than ninety percent

Infrastructure and the buildings are the best and the hostel are even good
Student Activities Centre and all other area
M I G 21 K plane is also there and it looks fantastic

Dislikes

Mess foods are disgusting and they lack quality
Cycles stand are the problem in some hostel
Some restriction between senior and junior

The campus placement in NATIONAL INSTITUTE OF ROURKELA is excellent not outstanding as the average placement is around 13,00,000 and the highest was 1.82 crore from Electronic and Instrumentation Department but Metallurgical and Materials Science Engineering also have 100 percent placement and median and average is almost same around 12 lacs

Quick Review of NIT Rourkela, by a backbencher

Likes

The enviroment, it has lot of greenery and hills, the campus is big and there are lot of shops inside the campus
The infrastructure and lab facilities are good. Everything is well maintained and the equipment are aslo in good condition
The research facilities are great and professor will guide and take you under his arms if you ask them for guidance

Dislikes

Away from city centre and it is far away from the centre so, if you want to have a party or watch a movie
The campus is big, and it is hard to travel around in a cycle, vehicles are not allowed
Ongoing construction on the campus, everywhere you they are either building something new or repairing something. They are making something between LA 1 and LA 2 in the academic area and also at the back of the university.

Placement Experience:

There are campus placement and internship opportunity are coming in our campus. There is a placement commitee in our college that takes care of this, In 3rd year we start applying for internship and from 4thyear there are campus placement. Almost 70-80% get placed there are others that opt for govt jobs and further education. I plan for a psu or government job after the degree is over.

"Life at NIT-Rourkela"

Likes

area of the campus, easy acces to everything, gym is also there
faculties are nice depending upon the branch also there are courts for every sport
hygiene is proper and hostels for boys are good except in food

Dislikes

electrical professors are not very chill unlike other branches
food quality is vey bad and the price for the same is very high
campus dogs are very dangerous and snakes also...during exam time twe face a lot of electricity shortage

Placement Experience:

over 1300 job offers were made in the last placement season.. the ghest package was of rs 1.2 cr of a senior from ei branch and that was off campus the average package was 15 lac per annum nearly all the people who registered got job

Likes

The quality of infrastructure and amenities are very good, campus is eco-friendly
From 2nd year onwards they will give the placement training with the help of placement training group
The faculty is so good,and there are mentor's to help the mentees of their respective mentors

Dislikes

We have to maintain 85% attendence , that is too difficult
Here ,In winter climate is too cold and In summer it is too hot
Campus rules and regulations are very difficult to maintain and those are very strict

Placement Experience:

At the end of the 4 th semester the college internship placement will start In some branches 100% placements are there Companies like microsoft, amazon, google, Barclays, qualcomm,texus,visa, SAP labs etc

NIT Rourkela: An Overview

Likes

The college placements are quite commendable.
The college infrastructure is good and provides nice ambience.
The club culture is very good and provides good environment.

Dislikes

The need for 85% attendance is compulsory in the college.
Some professors of the department are very strict and sometimes not reasonable.
Rooms are smaller but adjustable but they should be bigger.

The placements are quite good compared to other colleges especially in the current times when there is a global recession happening. The average package is about 14LPA which is commendable. Above 90 percent of students get placed. Highest package was 83 LPA last year. I plan to sit for the college placements after i get the degree.

Likes

I like the infrastructure here. It is so good.
The placements here are great.the avg package is 18L for my branch.
I also like the club culture here. They encourage coding in my club.

Dislikes

there is nothing that I don't like here.
I don't like the politics happening here.
In coordinating team for fest. They took our interview but didn't select us.

Placement Experience:

Placements are very good here. The college average package is 14 lakhs and our branch average is 18 lakhs. Everyone of our seniors for placed last year with good packages. But only problem is we can get only one placement.

A friend at NIT Rourkela gave me a detailed review of her college the last time she visited me. Here are some highlights from her descriptive experience

NIT Rourkela has a huge, serene, and well-secured campus.
The institute has diverse clubs that promote extracurricular activities and their performance is better than most clubs of other engineering colleges.
Decent Internet speed is offered and the Dc++ is well maintained.
The hostels are well-maintained and decked with all the basic amenities one could ask for.
Students are actively involved in sports such as gymming and swimming.
The faculties are a mixed bag. Some are underqualified and lethargic while some motivate you to become a better person.
The institute boasts of an extensive entrepreneurship culture.
The institute needs to work on increasing its alumni base and the level of fests it organizes given the huge income the institute generates.
The placement scenario varies from branch to branch. It's decent for branches like CS while pathetic for others.
Rourkela does not have any places to explore and also lacks flight connectivity.
The city of Rourkela is one of the cleanest places so hygiene is not an issue here.
