Course Curriculum Overview

3

The thing influenced me to take this course was the course being maths heavy in sem 1 my core subjects where microeconomics, introductory statistics and introductory mathematical methods of economics and i opted for fundamental of calculus for my general elective. The thing i hate is the rest for the subject apart from these 4 don’t add any value to my skills or my resume , they are there just for show and there will be no difference in your life with or without those subject. If they remove these subjects i am pretty sure the retention rate of students will increase. The frequency of exams is not very very there are end sem and class assessments that are taken by respective teachers of the course.

Internships Opportunities

3

The Internship Cell actively brings in over 170–200 companies annually. Like for ?Financial Research (e.g., DE Shaw, EY), Data Analytics & Policy (e.g., Nation with NaMo, Research Projects) and Marketing & Business Development (e.g., Zomato, Decathlon) . Apart from corporate internships, the Economics Society and the college Research & Innovation Cell offer internal projects too.

Placement Experience

4

Students typically become eligible to register for campus placements in their 5th Semester (beginning of the 3rd year ). However, the Internship usually starts as early as the 3rd Semester (2nd year), allowing students to secure Pre-Placement Offers (PPOs) before their final year even begins .For the 2024-25 cycle, the placement cell reported over 200+ offers from prestigious organizations.? Consulting & Research : McKinsey & Co., Boston Consulting Group (BCG) , Bain & Co., L.E.K. Consulting, and ZS Associates Finance & Banking: DE Shaw, Barclays, ICICI Bank, HDFC Bank, and PwC?Tech & Others: Accenture Strategy, Zomato, Deloitte, EY, and United Airlines. Approximately 60–90% of the students from the Economics and Commerce departments who actively register for placements successfully secure an offer. while the number takes a drastic changd in field of science. My plan is get placements in bank.

Fees and Financial Aid

The annual fees is 31000 for the course of B.A. (hons) Economics per year and with extra fees like examination fees under 2000 per semester. There are also multiple scholarship program for the students of hansraj college like Dell scholarship amd also by vice chancellor , Which provides academic assitance as well as laptops to the aided ,the scholarship also helps by mentoring in the intership process and procide a monthly budget of about 2000 per month for extra expenditure. There are different fees structure for different course so check them out.

Campus Life

4

Every department has its own niche fest (e.g., Econvista for Economics), generally occurring in the even semester (February /March).? Confluence (Annual Cultural Fest): Typically held in March/April, this is the flagship event featuring celebrity performances (Star Nights), fashion shows, and competitive dance. ?Vanijya Utsav (Annual Commerce Fest): Usually held in January/ February, it’s a massive technical fest focusing on business, marketing, and entrepreneurship Empresa & Finance Platter: Organized by the Finance & Investment Cell (FIC) around October or February, these are high-stakes technical fests for finance enthusiasts. Hansraj provide dmart boards as well as air conditioned classrooms with a library having books ranges from self-help to fiction and many more. There are many societies run by students including departmental societies (eg ecosoc for economics hons) as well as 180DC, Impact project for consultancy, FIC for finance and investments and the placement cell is also operated by students too.

Admission

I chose Hansraj because it offers a more balanced environment. While SRCC can feel like a placement factory, Hansraj provides a traditional college experience with a diverse peer group from Science and Arts streams. The Economics faculty here is also widely considered one of the best in the University, particularly for my subjects. I also applied to st stephen ,hindu .the reason i didnt get into was because of cutoff and also i had a pcm background which was a disadvantage for scoring high marks.

Faculty

4

The faculty to student ratio is almost 1:40. The faculty is very nice and highly qualified . They are highly approachable and also they help with guidance in times . My personal favorite is prof madhavi moni K. She is responsible for teaching Introductory and intermediate statistics for Economic hons student . Her teaching style is very aligned with the students needs and understanding. There are 7 exams per sem with 3 being core subjects, 1 for general elective,1 for Skill enhancement, 1 for ability enhancement and 1 for value addition, the last three are pretty easy but is also a waste of time for many whereas the difficulty of core and general elective can differ depending upon the semester and all.

Interview Experience

4

No there was no such things ,the admission was based on cuet examination only and i prepared for the exam with the help of youtube and coaching institute . The exam itself is easy but it will be very much appropriate to study as hard as you can to get into the college

Night Life

5

Nightlife at Hansraj and around North Campus is less about clubbing and more about food, long walks, and late-night debates. Since North Campus is a student-heavy residential hub, the vibe is energetic yet academic. ?Inside College (LP - Lover's Point): don't be fooled by name guyyz, this central quad is the heart of the college. You'll find students here at all hours discussing economics, practicing for a play, or just sharing a Hansraj special chai. Located right across the road, this is the ultimate student hub. From branded showrooms to street food like Chache Di Hatti (famous for Chole Bhature), it’s where students spend their evenings. North Campus is generally considered safe due to the constant presence of students and PCR vans. Chhatra Marg (the main university road) is well-lit and remains active until 10:00 PM. However, the backlanes of Malka Ganj and the Ridge are avoided by us after dark.

This course curriculum includes learning across 2 feilds like i have economics and maths and later we can continue 4th year to get hons degree . So its really gives time for a person to test himself or herself about which field to go on for as specialization. The difficulty level for this course is easy to moderate.
