Hindu College has a very vibrant campus life. The main cultural fest Mecca is held around March–April and is one of the most popular DU fests, with concerts, competitions and society events that keep the campus lively for weeks. Apart from this, there are many departmental fests and society events throughout the year, so there is always something happening after classes. The infrastructure is quite good: there is a large central library with a wide range of books and journals, well?maintained classrooms, labs, sports grounds and a Wi?Fi?enabled campus, along with separate hostels for boys and girls. Cafeteria food is decent, and students get plenty of open green spaces to sit and interact. Clubs and societies are a big part of life here—dramatics (Ibtida), dance, music, quizzing (Manthan), debating, finance and many more, plus NCC and different regional or interest?based cells, so almost every student finds a community to join. These activities help in confidence building, networking and overall personality development, making day?to?day campus life engaging, not just academically focused

Hindu College was chosen over other options mainly because it is one of the top DU colleges for science and mathematics, with a strong academic reputation, good placements and still affordable government?college fees. While filling CUET preferences, colleges like Ramjas and Kirori Mal were also considered, but Hindu offered a better mix of campus environment, societies and B.Sc Maths reputation, so it was kept higher in the preference list. Admission is completely through CUET and the DU CSAS portal now; after the CUET result, course–college preferences are filled online, and seats are allotted in several rounds based on score, category and seat availability. The process is transparent and mostly online, but cut?offs for Hindu are very high, so a strong CUET score is necessary, especially for Maths Hons and popular courses. Compared to many private universities applied to through separate entrance tests, Hindu College felt more reliable in terms of degree value, peer group and long?term opportunities, which is why this college was finally preferred

In B.Sc Maths Hons, the approximate faculty?to?student ratio is around 1:45–1:50, which is decent for a popular DU college and still allows personal interaction during tutorials. The course follows the University of Delhi B.Sc (Hons) Mathematics syllabus with core subjects like Calculus, Algebra, Real Analysis, Differential Equations, Probability and Linear Algebra spread over six semesters, so the curriculum builds a strong theoretical base useful for research, data science and competitive exams. Exams are held every semester; marks are divided between internal assessment (class tests, assignments, attendance) and end?term theory paper, usually in a pattern like 25% internal and 75% external, which rewards consistent study rather than last?minute preparation. Overall, the exam level is moderate to tough because the questions are concept?oriented, but students who attend classes and practice regularly can clear papers comfortably, and many seniors go on to higher studies in mathematics or related fields after benefiting from this rigorous structure

Hansraj College was my first preference because it is one of the top commerce colleges in India and has a strong reputation for B.Com (Hons), ranking among the best in national rankings. I had also considered other Delhi University colleges like Kirori Mal and Hindu, but the overall brand value, active campus life and strong alumni network of Hansraj attracted me more. Admission to Hansraj is completely through CUET and the DU CSAS portal, so there is no management quota or direct admission; students need a good CUET score and to carefully fill their preferences during counselling. YFor B.Com (Hons), the cutoff is usually very high, with CUET scores for Hansraj staying around the top range among DU commerce colleges, which made getting a seat here feel like an achievement. The admission process itself was smooth but slightly stressful: first preparing for CUET, then waiting for results, filling the CSAS form, and keeping track of multiple rounds of seat allotment. Compared with other options, Hansraj offered a better combination of ranking, placements and peer group, so even though the competition and living costs in Delhi are high, choosing this college feels worthwhile for my future career.

Around Hindu College and the wider North Campus, nightlife is more about student?friendly cafes and markets than clubs. After classes, most students head to nearby places like Hudson Lane, GTB Nagar and Kamla Nagar for coffee, snacks and dinner; many cafes stay open till late evening, so it is easy to relax with friends after a hectic day. Inside campus, the library and main college buildings close by early evening, while hostels and many PGs have entry timings around 9–10 pm, so night plans have to respect these curfews. The area feels reasonably safe because there are always students around and streets are well lit, but late?night solo roaming in the back lanes is not advisable, especially for girls, so most people prefer to move in groups and use cabs or autos for returning to PGs. One negative side is the visible garbage and construction waste around some roads, and during winter the air quality becomes quite poor due to Delhi’s overall pollution and traffic.
