Course Curriculum Overview

4

I have opted for commerce after 10th class, that's why decided to go for bcom (h), a curriculum that fits for the bcom students. It will teach you all the subjects regarding what a student of commerce needs to know about . The curriculum still needs a basic revision on its real world applications, but some suvjects like financial maths, tax, are something that you need to learn. And hence they become really important in one's life. I won't say that the course is difficult, if you are listening to the professor or doing somewhat the practice , you are good to go, you are not required to engross yourself 24*7 in the studies, and that's the beauty of this course as well that you can find time to explore and learn the things that you actually love to do.

Internships Opportunities

4

The various companies that come for internship are Bain, Accenture, Deloitte, DE Shaw, Nation with Namo. The stipend offered is even 60000, 90000, etc. These are the summer internships opportunities that came. There are many intership opportunities that circulate round the year. It may differ on duration, stipend, location, availability, etc.

Placement Experience

4

Students became eligible for the campus placements in the last year of their college i.e. in the 5th semester. There are many top companies that visits college like Accenture, Bain, Deloitte, DE Shawarma, PWC, who comes to the role like consulting, finance, audit & assurance, etc. The highest package is 2300000 and average package is 900000. My plan after getting the degree is for campus placements.

Fees and Financial Aid

The yearly fees of the college is around 30000. It does increase everyyear. Last year it was around 28000, this year it increased by 2000. But it includes everything and no additional charges are to be taken (excluding hostels) as for hostels you are required to apply and the criteria is based on merit for hostels. I am not sure about category wise off for the college fees. But yes they do have financial aid and they does provide the scholarships for that. It starts from 2000 to 15000. And apart from that there are other financial aids available for EWS as well.

Campus Life

4

The annual fest of Hansraj College is Confluence. There are many books that are available in the library. You can issue those books from the college Library card. The facilities in the classroom are smart board, A.C., etc. There is a sports ground in the college, with basketball court, and many games accessible to play both indoor and outdoor. You can play badminton, tabke tennis, to carrom etc. Yes there are many student led societies un the college. They are both extracurriculars and career based society. There are departmental societies as well in the college like comsoc, ecosoc, etc.

Admission

I have applied to Banaras Hindu University apart from the Delhi University. I did make it there as well, but I wanted to be here, in this college, because I know that this will provide me better growth opportunities and a corporate life vision where I wanted to step in. The diverse climate, culture and references is what all will i learn from. The admission process is through an entrance test CUET and based on your scores you are going to be alloted the colleges. At my time the cutoff was 770/800. But the exam pattern has been changed somehow and it is now from 1000 marks, i am not sure but it's around 910+/1000 marks cutoff for this. (General Category). The overall experience was good as all the process is online only, hence it went all smooth & good and we are not required to be physically present here, so it's convenient, specially for someone who is far off from Delhi.

Faculty

4

There are enough faculty for the students. I can't say that in the faculty to student ratio. But yes they are always approachable and helpful towards the students. We have also assigned mentors who are there for us to listen to us, our queries, our doubts regarding not only the academics but in other aspects like finding internships, courses or etc. they are there to help us, for us whom we can ask for help. We generally have end-sem exams as per the DU criteria. As well as internal examinations which is based on the proffessor. It is not something that is fixed, but teachers will take these internal exams and evaluate the students based on this and his class participation and other activities, assignments, etc.

Night Life

3

There are gym, cafes and libraries in and around the campus. The hostel timing is maximum at 10:00 PM at night for girls hostel. The boys hostel is currently under renovation so is not available atleast for this year. The famous hangout places around the campus are Kamla nagar, where you can shop, the various food places where you can go, like chhache di hatti, vaishnav chat bhandar, shreeja, etc. apart from this there are many joints like McD, Dominoes and also other famous spots. The night life is also good, but i haven't experienced it that much, because of I live in PG and my pg also has some restrictions.

I would say that SEC and VAC, were added by the university to enhance students mind, but these subjects feel more like burden to the students. And also the theoretical and numerics being taught, are not relevant to todays world, as curiculum in the books is not upto date, The assignments pressure.. and sometimes the fear of getting low marks.

Placement Experience:

The placement in Motilal Nehru College (Evening) is decent and is led mainly by the Placement Cell. Though inactive earlier, the placement cell has become significantly more active recently, bringing in more internship and job opportunities. Students become eligible for placements during 3rd year. In a good placement season, companies like Deloitte, KPMG, PwC, EY come for Audit, Taxation, Risk Advisory, HR jobs. Other companies like DE Shaw & Co, Accenture, Capital IQ also come during job fairs. Earlier, Wipro, TCS, Amazon, Flipkart have also recruited from the college mainly for Sales, Business Development, Operations jobs. Highest on-campus package is ?18.7 LPA and rhe average package is ?3.6-4.5 LPA. Approximately 40% to 50% of students who participate in the process secure placements. My plan is to get into freelancing after college.

Course Curriculum Overview:

In regard to the relevancy of the course Im quite fond of the subjects such as BL CA AND HRM they give us the better insights for both practical and theoritical knowledge making us ready for the "real" world . As For the improvement i feel like there should be some flexibility in GE so that students can choose a sub as per their choice as Hindi is fixed for me which isnt quite suitable for my course and it just drags my CGP down. The frequency if the exam is okay but the timing I feel like its way too fast just after first sem exam we had classes and all test and felt like it went on a spur
