What Students Say
Likes
- Placement cell is really active providing good placement opportunities along with various internship opportunities
- The societies are really active heeding to overall development of a student, the college also provide mentorship facility to every student
- The diversity is very high in college both among students as well as teachers, also the college is very welcoming
Dislikes
- The college lacks a bit in infrastructure where the washrooms are not clean enough, the classrooms are often smaller compared to the number of students
- The events organised by college such as fests, freshers as well as other events are not upto the level
- The student to teacher ratio is really high for some courses such as Bcom hons, making it a bit difficult to focus on individuality
Course Curriculum Overview
I chose bcom hons because the course include subjects such as business management, law , marketing , accounts that bring a good insight of the real world situations that may occur in businesses . Further it is one of the highest demanded course having greater opportunities ahead .The teaching methods are good as teachers share their ppts , notes with us for better understanding. The only improvement I can suggest is that the course curriculum needs to be executed in a better way for subjects introduced unde NEP such as SEC, VAC , AEC. Exams are conducted twice a year, they are moderately difficult . The exams are conducted once in DEC-JAN and then MAY-JUNE .
Internships Opportunities
The college brings a number of internship opportunities through its Placement cell, Internship cell, Commerce society, Entrepreneurship cell etc. The various companies that come are Deloitter offering Auditing internship role, KPMG offering tax auditing and business consultant roles EY offering advisory intern role etc The average stipend ranges from 10000-15000 per month
Placement Experience
The overall placement opportunities are good. Students become eligible for placements from semester 5th . Various companies that visit our college are - Accenture, E&Y, Deloitte, PwC etc. The highest package offered was 2300000 and average package was 900000 p .a. Approx 40 percent of the students secured placement. I plan to secure a placement after getting degree from college and pursue masters.
Fees and Financial Aid
The fees for whole year is approximately 31435 for General category. However, for the foreign students the fees is about 55393 per annum. The breakup is as follows: Tuition fee - 180 for undergrad and 216 for postgrad students. Admission fee is rs 5 and rest including other charges. The fees is almost similar across all categories except for PWD category that has to pay only around rs 775 approx per annum. The college does provide some scholarship schemes to students with fee concessions ranging from 50 to 100 % based on need and family background. The name of these are HRC Merit Cum Need Scholarship , Dell Aspire Scholarship etc.
Campus Life
The name of the annual fest is Confluence held in between February - March . Other festivals include Diwali Mela, Freshers and Farewell party, Dandiya etc. A wide variety of books are available from science to commerce to arts and literature every domain along with daily journals and research papers. The classrooms are smart, air conditioned with projector facilities. The college has a sports ground and complex for all major sports. There are approximately 70 societies and clubs which student can be a part of
Admission
This college was my second preference . I had applied to Sri Ram College of Commerce besides this. The admission was based on cut off criteria I couldnt clear the cut off of SRCC therefore couldnt make it there and I preffered this college over all the others left though I cleared their cut off is because this is the second best college for commerce across delhi university. The admission process is same across all DU colleges, we had to appear for an entrance exam called CUET and then clear the cut off rank wise to get here . The exams we had to appear in include a compulsory exam for language along with accountancy or mathematics as another compulsory subjects . The cut off was pretty high . The overall admission process was smooth and mostly omline
Faculty
The faculty to student ration might be low to high depending upon courses, though each student is allotted a mentor from their respective department whom they can reach out anytime throughout their college journey which makes the approachability to faculty easier. Faculties are generally friendly and understanding. Some of the faculties I like are business law faculty as well as economics faculty because they are really understanding , there is no such faculty so far which I dont like. The exam structure is aligned by Delhi University exam structure where 90 marks are for theory exam which is checked and made outside college . The level of difficulty is moderate and usually almost every student passes the exam since they are not that difficult . There are 3 core , one Ge exam of 160 marks - 90 theory and 70 internals and three additional compulsory subject exam SEC, VAC , AEC of 80 marks each.
Night Life
The college has its own gym which students can access in the morning. There are 4 cafetarias in the college and a two storeyed library and a very loved area within the campus called LP where everybody likes to hangout . The hostel close timimg is 8 pm and campus timimg is 8:40- 5 pm. The nighlife is very happening in the college as there are a number of cafetarias, gaming zones near the college and it is very close to Kamlanagarmarket as well . Some of the famous places include Majnu ka Tila, Kamlanagar market, etc
Other Applied Colleges
Shri Ram College of Commerce - [SRCC] | Bachelor of Arts [BA] {Hons.} (Economics)
This college was my second preference, since getting into SRCC was my first preferable preference as that college I believed is better in terms of opportunities as well as facilities
