Course Curriculum Overview

2

“The curriculum in DSCE follows the VTU pattern and covers the essential subjects for the CSE branch, but most of the components feel outdated and not fully aligned with current industry standards. There are 3 internal exams and one semester-end exam for every subject. All internal marks (including AAT) are combined and reduced to 50, and the semester-end exam for 100 marks is also reduced to 50, making the total 100 per subject. Most subjects carry around 4 credits, especially lab-integrated ones.

Placement Experience

1

Students become eligible for placements from the 6th semester, but the overall placement scenario in DSCE for CSE is below average. Not even 50% of students get placed in good companies. Most students end up getting offers from mass recruiters or in sales and non-tech roles. Only a small percentage of top performers get decent technical packages. Companies like TCS, Infosys, Wipro, Capgemini, Accenture, Cognizant, and a few mid-tier companies visit the campus, but the number of high-package, core-tech roles is very limited. The average package is on the lower side compared to other top COMEDK colleges. Because of this, many students plan for higher studies, certification courses, or off-campus drives after completing the degree. The on-campus placement support definitely needs improvement, especially for technical roles.”

Fees and Financial Aid

I studied at DSCE (Dayananda Sagar College of Engineering) and here is my honest experience. My total fees were ?2,42,000, and every semester they charged around ?5,500 as examination fees. The recurring exam fee felt a bit high considering the overall fee structure. If someone is planning to join, just be aware that apart from the main tuition fees, there are additional recurring costs like exam fees, internal fees, and some miscellaneous charges every semester.

Campus Life

3

“My overall campus life experience in DSCE was decent. The campus is large, lush green, and peaceful, which makes the environment feel very relaxed. Students usually hang out near the central lawn and canteen areas. The college hosts cultural fests and technical events like Gandharva and tech symposiums once or twice a year, which adds some excitement, although participation is average. The library has a good collection of books and is accessible most of the day, but the availability of the latest journals can be improved. Classrooms have basic facilities, projectors, and Wi-Fi, but the infrastructure is not very modern. Sports facilities are available, including a ground and indoor courts, but maintenance can be better. There are different student clubs for coding, arts, and cultural activities, but club involvement depends on the student; some are active while others are quite inactive. Overall, the campus life is chill and comfortable, but the infrastructure and activity engagement can be improved

Admission

“I applied to a few other higher-ranking COMEDK colleges, but because of my low rank I did not get good CSE-based branches in those colleges. I also got ECE in JPN (Jain/JP Nagar college), but I was not interested in taking a non-CSE branch. So I finally chose DSCE as it was one of the better options available for my rank. The admission process at DSCE was simple and based on the COMEDK counseling procedure. After selecting the college and branch through the portal, the document verification and fee payment were done at the college. The overall process was smooth without

Faculty

2

The faculty-to-student ratio is around 1:20, and teachers like Chandrakala ma’am and Suresh sir are really good and supportive.”“Some teachers are not very supportive, but it wouldn’t be appropriate to name them individually.”

Night Life

3

“The nightlife around DSCE is decent, but not extremely happening like central Bangalore. The campus itself closes by evening, and the library and most public areas shut down around 6–7 PM. Hostel students have fixed in-out timings, so late-night campus access is limited. Outside the college, there are several hangout spots like cafés, tea shops, bakeries, and small restaurants that stay open till 10–11 PM. JP Nagar and Kumaraswamy Layout have good street food options, juice shops, and casual places where students usually chill after classes. Areas like Brigade Road, Koramangala, and Jayanagar are around 15–25 minutes away and offer better

Course Curriculum Overview:

The curriculum seems to be a little outdated as we were following the VTU syllabus. But since 2024, our college has become an Autonomous College and since then, most of the outdated syllabuses were replaced with newer, required contents. And we have exams regularly, every month. This helps us alot in preparing for our final exams.
