Likes

A very beautiful and well maintained campus! Near and clean at all times. There are dustbins at almost every 100 meters. The lush green parks and grounds really give a pleasing vibe. Especially, the aravali rocks make you feel really close to nature.
The variety of food is awesome! No student has to ever worry about bringing a tiffin. Chinese, north indian, south indian, italian and what not. They also have a special mother dairy and bhelpuri corner. Seating area is also well maintained. Kudos!
Course is very rigorous. The faculty is highly experienced and trained. All assignments are given with ample time to finish. Teachers are very understanding. They have also installed smart boards insude the classroom which help in virtual learning

Dislikes

Non availability of air conditioners or coolers. During the summer heat, it is difficult to sit in classes back to back for 4 hours sometimes without any source of coolers or ACs, that makes it really difficult to concentrate and sit

Course Curriculum Overview

I want to build a career in accountancy and taxation. I initially planned to pursue Chartered Accountancy which really aligned with the syllabus of bcom hons. The teaching can be more practical in my opinion.

Class Size: 100Course Fees: INR 28000 per year

Placement Experience

I don't know much about placements as a first year. But highest package is 23.5 LPA and median was 13 LPA. Companies visited were accenture, EY etc. the placement report for 2025 batch had not yet been uploaded on the website

Fees and Financial Aid

The yearwise fees I pay is Rs. 28000. The breakup of tuition fee, caution fee, registeration fee, compulsory / lab was not given to us. A simple one time amount of 28K was taken. There are many scholarships available for students who have single parents, or their annual family income is less than 4LPA etc.

Campus Life

The annual event of JMC is MONTAGE, usually held in mid-February each year. Each society has their own flagship event ranging throughout the year. There are over 4000 books in the library. Almost all academic books are available in the college. Some classrooms have projectors and smartboards in them. There is football ground, basketball ground, and volleyball court. Apart from that we have chess team, basketball team, tennis team etc. I love how our college has clubs (societies) for almost everything- like Marketing, Corporate management, entrepreneurship cell, economics, poetry, animal welfare, social service, green society, HR, consulting, dance, music and sooo many others

Admission

I applied abroad to various universities. I got accepted to Kelly school of business, michigan state university, university of Waterloo and in India I got accepted to Symbiosis, Christ. I got rejected from IIM rohtak and IIM Jammu for the IPM program. The reason was very basic, because I did not prepare fully for IPMAT exam. The admission process of my college was facilitated by NTA. First I gave my CUET- got my rank adm score..according to that I was allocated jesus and Mary College in the first round. Then I did apply for upgrade but could not get an upgrade. Paid my fees after accepting the seat

Faculty

Faculty is wonderful..they teach wonderfully. They use digital resources for more real time learning. I really like Ameeta Motwani ma'am, she takes ample time to teach accounts and clears all of our doubts. We don't have mid semester exams and only have end semester. So every year we only have 2 rounds of exams

Night Life

There Is no on-campus hostel. The college closed around 5 pm. The gym and cafeteria are open until 4 pm. The library closes at 5 pm. Inside college the most famous hangout spot is the 'Bhelpuri CR' Outside campus, nearby places are SatyaNiketan, yashwant place and Diplomatic enclave.

Are off campuses worth the DU hype

Placement Experience:

Placements cell works for the placements but gets bare minimum or very low profile courses. Students become eligible to apply in third year. I dont have the data because I didn't apply for the placements. Avg package is around 400000 that also in low profile jobs. % of students placed is also very low. My plans after the degree is to either pursue MBA from tier 1 college or continue/start a business/family business as it is best time in india to pick pace

Deshbandhu college, the hidden gem

Course Curriculum Overview:

I chose BCom hons because i was interested in commerce and here too they provide top level learning. With computers they teach us excel and everything and its really nice in this technical era that we are continuously learnibg and learning. I even joined my internship and there too i used all my learnings from college. So overall i love this as i can focus on other things too

I chose Jesus and Mary college as it is a well reputed college and provides a lot of opportunities for networking and making connections which will matter in the corporate world in the future. JESUS & MARY COLLEGE - AN UNDERRATED GEM

I appeared for the Common University Entrance Test(CUET) with accounts, business studies, economics and English . I scored 603/800 . In order to get a DU college I made a preference sheet of 160 college+subject combinations, where I put JMC+BVOC RMIT on 2nd no. Initially I was allocated a seat in Dyal Singh College in BA programme (commerce + economics) through my EWS quota (7th on preference list) , however I was not fully satisfied with this allocation due to 2 reasons ; the crowd and infrastructure. So I chose to upgrade my application and luckily got JMC with my prefered course through unreserved category (General , since JMC offers reservation to only Christian students ). The reason why I chose JMC over Dyal Singh was completely personal . Since I have studied in an all girls school it was easier to blend in a similar environment . The college has lived upto my expectations and I am very happy of my decision.
