Remarks

College management was seen in bad light after few cases of suicides over the last ten years. However, those cases were handled sensitively by the college authority. The management had seen an able leadership under Mr. Gokhale who was the former director

Entrance Preview

AIEEE, scored state rank 708, opted for VNIT over other colleges because of its reputation and native place advantage.

Course Curriculum Overview

4.5

Course curriculum is good. First year electives are common. Second to Fourth year - option of choosing your own electives. Remember taking Linear Integrated Circuits, Signals and Systems, Network Theory, Electric Machines, Machine Design, High Voltage Engineering. All the courses were good especially machine design which gave a lot of practical exposure.

Internships Opportunities

We had searched for internship on our own through a reference. However, college internships were also good. Big companies like NTPC, NPTI, L&T, Persistent, Infocepts, Reliance etc used to visit for internships. General stipend on offer was about Rs. 10000 per month. In some cases, technical courses were offered instead of stipend.

Placement Experience

4.5

Placements were also good. Almost everyone got placed from our batch. Companies that came to the campus were NTPC, Power Grid, Reliance Power, Bajaj Auto Ltd., Tata Motors, L&T, Coal India, Persistent, TCS, Infosys, IBM, Kirloskar, Infocepts, Microsoft, Michelin Tyres etc. Packages were in the range of 3.5 lakhs per annum to 14 lakhs per annum.

College Events

5

Technical event is Axis. Held on a big scale with participation from all the engineering colleges of state as well as national level. Cultural event is Aarohi which is central India's biggest cultural festival. Organized by students outrightly from end to end be it raising funds through sponsorship or bringing in performing artists. Participation from across the country to the tune of thousands.

Fee Structure And Facilities

Fee structure is quite feasible. Being a government institution, the fees was very low. Yearly 18000 for both the semesters. However, now it has increased to around 45000 yearly.

Fees and Financial Aid

Some scholarship available for students with economically weak family background which is limited to a fixed number of students only. Apart from that, scholarship available for category candidates.

Campus Life

5

Gender ratio was low at about 10:1. Campus life was very good. Lot of extracurricular opportunities were available in terms of workshops, sports and art competitions, department gatherings. Competitions for Sketching and drawing, Street Dramas, Singing, Dancing etc., Jam sessions, Debates used to happen frequently. Though there were statewise regional groups, each individual had tolerance to ethnicity of others. Cricket tournament Krik Mania is famous for participation from different colleges involving players of Ranji Trophy level.

Hostel Facilities

5

Hostel rooms were good but on sharing basis in first year. Single rooms from second year onwards. Enough hostel rooms are available for accommodating all the seats. Mess food was decent with a 24 hour canteen in addition to the mess. Hostels had the facil

Alumni/Alumna

Alumni of college is very active and connected through Google groups as well as Facebook page. Meets happen for the alumni once or twice a year where they discuss college's achievements, focus and future course. Seniors are pretty much connected and easily available for help on any matter be it personal or professional.

Exam Structure

There were two sessionals which happened almost at an interval of 45-50 days and then there was a final term exam apart from practical examinations. Submissions and vivas were a frequent phenomena. Altogether it was balanced. Not too hectic and not too ch

Placement Experience:

Placement in my college are decent, especially for computer related branches. Students usually become eliggible for campus placement from the 7th semester. The placement cell conducts taining programs from earlier semesters, including aptitude tests, technical sessions and mock interviews to prepare students. Many companies visit the campus every year, mainly from the IT and software sector. Some ofthe common recruiters include companies like TCS, Infosys, Wipro, Capgemini, Cognizant and mid level companies. A few products based or higher paying companies also visit for specific branches. The average package is usually around 4-6 LPA while the highest package can go above 10-12 LPA in some years, especially for computer science and IT students. The placement percentage varies by branch, but overall, around 70-80 % of eligible students get placed with higher percentages in computer related branches. As for my personal plan, after completeing my degree, I aim to get a good campus placement in a reputed company and start my career in the engineering field. I also plan to keep improving my technical and communication skills during the course to increase my chances of getting a better package.
