Course Curriculum Overview

4

The course curriculum can make you a busy person doesn't matter the course but you will seek the time to chill and fresh up and grow during this time. The course curriculum is more global based which makes the Delhi University colleges world class. The course may include elective courses such as General Electives GE and Disciplanru Specific Electives (DSEs), Skills Enhancement Courses (SECs), Value addition Courses (VACs) and Ability Enhancement Courses (AECs) which prepare you for a professional oriented lifestyle and these may vary according to your core courses.

Internships Opportunities

3

College has Various internship cells ensuring students involvement in professional sector Companies like collegedunia, shiksha, and other are famous among students for providing various industrial opportunities for students.

Placement Experience

3

Geology course doesn't produce any campus placement just after UG since it is a field which needs in deep knowledge. But, Hansraj College make you apt for competitive exams after Undergraduation also the atmosphere here help you to prepare for Entrance exams for further education in best Universities. Also scoring very good marks make you offerable for various scholarships from top institution from all over the world since University of Delhi and Hansraj College are globally recognised. My current plan is to do an MBA or PG Diploma in Management (especially in the field of Environment, Forestry or Travel and Tourism).

Fees and Financial Aid

1st year Fee: 25665 2nd year fee: 28892 3rd year fee: 33,313 This fee includes all the fees mentioned above and this is the final college fee in my respective years. We science students had highest fees in our college. Other courses like Arts, Sports, and Commerce etc. have lower fees. Also merit based scholarship is available for toppers of the respective departments. I am not much aware of that.

Campus Life

4

During October the freshers party occur, apart from college official freshers each departments welcome freshers and conduct party accordingly. During beginning of the spring mainly in February the Interdepartmental sports competitions occur. It includes wide range of Sports. During the spring season, mainly in March other fest occurs likely the college fest too. The Library is equipped with wide variety of books for each disciplines. I have never felt regret searching library for the right book. Almost all classrooms have very nicely done ventilation apart from AC and all classrooms are digitalized and modernized. There are many student run-organisations, clubs and Societies within the campus.

Admission

I only applied to the Universities and colleges having geology. And the best college for geology was Hansraj College and I got admission here so, simply I didn't think twice. Admission process for Undergraduate Programs is through CUET (UG) only. You can apply through DSAS portal (for Delhi University colleges) after the CUET results are out.

Faculty

5

Faculties are quite supportive generally, but some faculties are a bit strict in case of assignments, deadlines, and Internals. I have never felt any bad vibes from any of the faculties of our college. My favourite teacher is Priyanka ma'am who is a guest lecturer in chemistry department who teaches our Generic Elective subject. Internal Exams/Assignment occur for each subject as per the teacher's wish and accordingly Internal marks are given. Theory exams (Main exam) held by the end of the semester for each subject. If you take the subject with only practical component you will only have a practical exam apart the internals.

Night Life

4

College has limited gym facilities but library is very good. College closes by 8pm and opens by 8 am. I am not aware of hostel timings. There are a lot of hangout places within the campus which is famous and known as LP. There are good cafaterias around that. The night life surrounding the college is really safe but a bit unhygienic.

Other Applied Colleges

Pondicherry University - [PU] | Integrated Msc Geology

I wanted to explore Northern India. So, I chose Hansraj College over PU.

Indira Gandhi National Open University - [IGNOU], Bachelor of Science [B.Sc] (Mathematics)

Placement Experience:

Placements in IGNOU are quite limited compared to regular universities. Since IGNOU is an open and distance learning university, it does not have a strong campus placement system like DU or private colleges. There is a Campus Placement Cell (CPC) that conducts job fairs and recruitment drives at some regional centers, but these are not very frequent and mostly depend on the location. Usually, students who are in their final year or have completed the course can apply, but there is no fixed semester rule since the system is flexible. The companies that visit are not very large in number and vary every year. Some private firms, NGOs, BPOs, insurance companies, and small IT firms have participated in the past. The roles are generally entry-level such as sales, customer support, data entry, insurance advisor, or junior IT support. There are very limited opportunities for core mathematics or research roles through placements. As far as packages are concerned, the average package is usually around ?2.5 LPA to ?4 LPA, but since IGNOU is an open university, it cannot be expected to have the same placement levels as regular colleges with full-time classes. Also, the percentage of students placed is very small because most IGNOU students are either working professionals, homemakers, or people preparing for competitive exams, so placements are not the main focus. Many students use the degree as a qualification while pursuing their own career path outside. I am currently in my 2nd year, so I do not have personal placement experience yet. The data I have mentioned here is based on internet sources and feedback from other IGNOU students. From what I have learned, placements exist but are very limited, and one should not rely only on them for career building.

Course Curriculum Overview:

The curriculum of my course BSc honours physics is pretty good and it provides sufficient informations in theory classes and practical labs are maintain good and teachers are actively participate in the practicals with the students to teach them more about this course. The frequency of the timing is difficult I can say that because it has many theory classes and on everyday due to which the students can't focus on the subjects and regular activities other than main course.
